My ipod touch gen 4 screen has suddenly gone black, i tried resetting it and the white apple symbol suddenly appears then goes black again, restoring it to factory setting and updating it but it hasnt changed any assistance would be greatly appecited

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
They are probably dead pixels or a signal of damaged GPU. If you can, connect an external display and see if the issue appears here.
In both cases, I suggest you to take it to an Apple Store or reseller. It doesn't look as a software issue, and your display or GPU have to be replaced

  • My ipad Classic has suddenly gone dead - no indication of charging when plugged in - nothing! Is there any way to reboot it?

After about five years of reliable use, my ipod Classic has suddenly gone dead. Charging seems to have no effect - no sign of life. Is there any way of rebooting it?

    Start here... http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
If you try the above and all else fails, leave the iPod unplugged for a few days. This should drain the battery. Once that's done, plug the iPod into power and wait (for up to thirty minutes) for the screen to turn on and charging to begin.

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • TS3274 My iPad screen has gone dark, but when I use internet it goes light please advise

My iPad screen as gone. Funny greeny colour, everything including pictures are that colour, but when I use the internet it is normal. Please could you help. I've rebooted but no change

Some folks here have reported that giving the back of the iPad a couple of sharp whacks has solved this issue - but you do this at your own risk. Best of luck.

  • My screen has suddenly gone black and doesnt respond to anything

    Hi all,
Last night my screen suddenly went black, however the phone is still on as it vibrates when I ring it.
Ive tried the master reset but it wont actually turn off. Ive also restored the OS and its still faulty.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you restore "as new iphone", without using the backup to restore from afterwards?
Also try this, mentioned here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Display has no backlight or dark screen
1 Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
2 Turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
3 While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge iPhone until it is fully charged.

  • My screen has suddenly gone dim. The lightness control is set to the highest level but the screen is still very dim. Any help?

I thought it might be the power saver or something but all is as it should be as far as I can tell.  Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

I found the solution from another users question and response.

  • My accent menu has suddenly gone away on all word programs. How do I get it back?

My accent menu has disappeared on all word processing programs. I no longer can hold down a key to display the menu. How does one restore it?

    shiva2002,
open Terminal, and give it the following command:
    defaults read -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled
    What output does it produce?

  • My ipod touch 4g, has a white spot on the screen when you turn it on, what is that and how do I fix it?

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what.  Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:
    Cleaning iPod touch
Clean iPod touch immediately if it comes in contact with any contaminants that may cause stains,
such as ink, dyes, makeup, dirt, food, oils, or lotions. To clean iPod touch, disconnect all cables and
turn off iPod touch (press and hold the On/Off button, then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a
soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners,
household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to
clean iPod touch. Rubbing the screen with an abrasive material may scratch the glass.
For more information about handling iPod touch, see the iPod touch Important Product Information
    Guide at www.apple.com/support/manuals/ipodtouch.
