My iPad is about 1.5 years old. It just started this business of not sending. My ipad will receive texts and emails but it won't send - the send button doesn't light up? It has been updated. to 6.1 IOS.
Anyone have an idea what to do for this?

I would think this might be the case but I am trying to texting friends and family members with iphones.
I am really stymied.

Have you tried rebooting the phone? Also maybe removing and reinstalling the sim card? Make sure your not in airplane mode or check under settings -- general --cellular and see whats turned on or off.

Alright, I'll take a mea culpa on this. I just recalled the one thing I didn't try which was establishing an application-specific password for the phone:

Receiving text and email notifications while on call

While I'm on a call, I receive text and email notifications (by a sound and a buzz). Is there a way to shut this off, as it's annoying when there are multiple messages coming through.

Sure; go to settings > sounds and set "new text" and "new VM" to off.
Of course this turns them off ALL the time; your only choice ( I am sure there is a hack for this oversight out there somewhere, though)

Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. Is there a way to prevent Itunes' volume from lowering when I receive texts and email?

Whenever I have my iphone connected to a speaker, the volume lowers when I receive a text or email. This can be very frustrating and I'm wondering if there is a setting to prevent this from happening. Can anyone help?

If the reset does not work, try quitting mail completely and then restart the iPad and see if you can cancel the email or send it.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Didn't the link to contact the iTunes Store staff in the 'Additional Information' section of that article work for you? If you don't already have a valid rescue email address, only Apple itself can reset the questions.
A rescue email isn't the same as an alternate email.

While I am sorry this happened to you, I am beyond glad to know that this happened to someone else. I was typing my Graduate thesis when this happened to me! Lost a lot of work and learned a very valuable lesson about auto save and multiple copies! I called Microsoft about this, the woman I spoke with claimed I was the first one she had ever heard of having this issue...blamed it on Apple, said it was likely some key stroke? Kinda would like to know how I did it, so I NEVER do it again. And the button was not stuck!

What in the world is an iPhone 4G? There is NONE. There is an iPhone 4, and an iPhone 4th Generation, but there is NO iPhone 4G.
Anyways, what it sounds like is that you've got the MMS subject line on, and if this is the case, then you've been typing into the subject line, instead of the body of the text.
You can either type in the body of the text, instead of the subject line, or disable the subject line in the settings.
If your subject line is off, or you ARE typing in the body, then something's wrong with your iPhone.
