TS3274 Problems with the front facing camera

Black screen in FaceTime ... Grey grid in photo booth ... Frozen screen when switching to front facing camera in Camera ... Help !!!

Try a Force Restart just in case it is a software/firmware issue. Hold down Home and Sleep until screen goes black and a white Apple logo pops up. Release and let it finish starting up.
If that doesn't help, there may be hardware problems, in which case you would need to take it in for assessment and service. Be sure to have a fresh backup of the phone beforehand, for warranty "repairs" entail a replacement with a blank refurbished unit you would have to Restore to.

  • Problems with the front camera on iPhone 4

    Hey, guys. Just faced a problem with the front camera on my iPhone 4. So, when it's enabled this thing is on screen and all the pictures taken on it also has it:

    I've never dropped the phone, it isn't jailbroken or unlocked, it was bought in Britain but using in Russia, the firmware is 4.2.1.
    So, guys, can you help me?

    Have you tried resetting your phone by holding down the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time until the phone restarts?

  • How secure is the front facing camera?

    Is there a way to tell if the front facing camera is on? Since iOS supports multi-tasking. From the security side, is it safe to assume the front camera is always on, unless a tape is covering it?
    thanks

    When not using the Camera app, it is not on or running in the background. The Camera app is quit when leaving the app just as it was quit with leaving the app prior to iOS4. Just because an app is in the fast app switching and recently used apps bar or dock does not mean the app is running in the background. Very few apps will run in the background when leaving the app such as a music streaming app and a GPS navigation app. Some 3rd party apps will be placed in a suspended state when leaving the app such as with a game. An app in a suspended state is open but not running in the background - it is suspended or frozen not using any processor cycles or battery. Nothing has changed with the Camera app in this regard with iOS4.

    My iphone 4 camera shutter won't open. I have already done a restore and I am using the latest iOS. The front facing camera works during FaceTime but crashes when I switch to rear camera. in Camera mode I can't switch to front camera. I plan on replacing this phone with an iphone 5s when it comes out but I need this phone to work until then.

    When you did the restore, did you restore from a backup or restore as new? The final step of user troubleshooting is to restore as a new device, not from a backup. If you restore as a new device and the camera still does not function, it is probably a hardware issue. Make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar and have the device checked by a Genius.

  • Access to the front-facing camera

    Hey guys:
    I've downloaded AIR 3.0 and have been anxiously awaiting the front facing camera!  Any news on when LCCS will adopt?  Or is there a way I can replace the default getCamera() functionality of the publisher?  I'm excited after coming back from MAX.
    Keep up the good work,
    -Eric

    Well, I have not yet had a chance to test it, but with AIR 3, you should be
    able to use WebCamPublisher.CameraNameIndex to set the camera to the
    front-facing one.
    You should be able to do something like:
    function setupPublisher(publisher:WebcamPublisher):void {
           var camera:Camera;
           var cameraCount:uint = Camera.names.length;
           for ( var i:uint = 0; i < cameraCount; ++i )
              camera = Camera.getCamera( String(i) );
              if ( camera.position == CameraPosition.FRONT )
                  publisher.cameraNameIndex = String(i);
    (with apologies for the formatting)

  • Will screen protector affect the quality of the front facing camera?

    I got my screen protector cut out and fitted on my phone in Hanoi very cheaply - looks great. However, they were not able to cut out the hole for the front facing camera as well as I would want it to look like (it was either to big or not round enough, etc). So I ended up with a screen protector covering my front facing camera.
    They said this will not affect the quality of the front facing camera. However, Lenovo S90 has a 8MP front facing camera, so I it's not like fitting a screen protector on a 5 year old nokia with VGA front camera. How much do you think this will affect the quality of the front facing camera? Unless I can compare 1:1 pics, its hard to say.
    I know the Lenovo original screen protector has a hole for the flash light, camera, and the sensor. So I wonder if anyone at Lenovo ever tested how does screen protector affect the quality of the camera? (Btw. I really do not see a need for a hole for the proximity sensor, it seems to work well with screen protector on it, so why bother?)
    P.S. I am currently in KL, JameZ, so I was wondering if Lenovo KL can do a screen protector for S90 and how much would that cost. My screen protector is actually so well done that you could not say there is a screen protector on the phone. I only worry about the quality of the front facing camera.

    Welcome to Malaysia mate!
    I think the best place to get screen protectors in Malaysia (KL) would be Low Yat Plaza. At the 3rd floor, there are heaps of shops selling accessories.
    Separately, I use glass based protectors and they are do have holes for Proximity sensor, light sensor and front cam.
    I don't think the screen protector would affect the quality of the front cam but rather the light sensor.
    Also if the screen protector you use is clear, it should be fine. Take a selfie!

    recently recieved a second hand Iphone 4. I was testing the Camera, the rear one worked perfectly fine, however when i pressed the switch button the front facing camera shutter freezed and started flickering. In order to get it back to the rear camera I have to reset my settings. Does anyone know why the front facing camera is doing this and how i can fix it.
    iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

    I would ask the person you received it from if they've had this issue.
    You can completely close out of the camera, then do a reset, hold down the home/power button together until yo usee the apple logo and then release, then wait for you phone to boot back up.

  • Has anyone else had trouble with there front facing camera on Ipad with Retina display since last update?

    Since the most recent update for IOS 7.1.1 my front facing camera has not been working and the tech people say it is a hardware issue.  Anyone else out there have the same issue?

    At this point you probably think the errors are SyncPX's fault.
    And you would be right.
    I started by taking the fault up with SyncPX's developer, Qdea.  One other user had noted a fault similar to (2).  Qdea maintain that there's nothing wrong with their code, and blame Apple's disc drivers.
    What steps can I take to pin this down further?  All advice and comments will be gratefully received..
    Dump Qdea for someone who knows how to write Mac software.
    1. Qdea displays the following logo: . This is a pre-MacOS X logo.
    2. Qdea displays the following review:
    MacFixit had a good reputation, if you are old enough to remember when it used to exist.
    3. Qdea provides download links to SynchronizeX and version in French, German, and Japanese. Apparently they don't know that Mac software can be localized into a single executable.
    I'm sure there are any number of similar utilities available, all of them cheaper than SynchronizeX's $99.99 price.

  • N95 - sensor beside the front facing camera !

    please can someone confirm something for me ... does the light sensor on the front of the n95 flash at all once it goes into standby mode .. ie the n73 .. screen completely goes blank after a while and the light sensor starts to flash blue ??? cheers.
    chris

    Nope, not with N95 at least it's just a sensor.
    With Version 12.x of the firmware, one of the buttons on the side of the phone (next to the camera shutter button) flashes blue once when it goes into standby, but that's all.

  • The front facing camera of the iPhone 5 automatically flips/mirrors the image right after it is taken. This is annoying since I would like for the image to look the same way it did while it was captured is there a way to stop this feature?

    Right after I take a picture using the camera which is made to face you the image is flipped as soon as it saves to my library. Is there a fix for this? Ive read a few other posts saying apple intended for the software to do this but I was wondering if there was an option to turn this feature off.

    I actually tried the steps below due to the error -5000 I had encountered during the previous tries updating my IOS to 5.1.1
    "Perform a normal sync and check your iTunes to make sure everything was synced in the right places like the tabs at the top of your "summary" when you plug in your iPhone to iTunes.  If everything is there and all the right boxes are checked for the stuff you want to save, then put your phone into recovery mode by keeping it plugged into your computer with iTunes still up and running. Next you want hold down the power button AND the home key button (the big button on the bottom part of your screen) AT THE SAME TIME. Your phone will go thru 4 different screens before you
    Can let them go.  U will see your normal power off slider screen, then a black screen, then a black screen with an apple logo, then finally a screen with the iTunes logo and a picture of a sync cable below it. Once you see this screen LET BOTH BUTTONS GO but not before you see this screen.  Your computer will tell you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, say ok.  Then hit the restore button on your iTunes summary screen, it should then ask you if you want to restore from a backup and update, say yes.... And at the end of its restoring and uploading you should have iOS 5!!"
    Then it proceeded to a reactivation process... =(

    Apple aren't here. This is a user-to-user forum only.
    When in the Camera app, what happens when you tap the icon to switch to the front camera?
    Have you made sure that Settings > General > Restrictions and make sure Allow: Camera is on.

    Thank you very much for your help

    Hello DUARTE
    Drivers for OS X apps are built into Mac OS OS. There are no drivers to reload for use with OS X.
    Try all relevant suggestions in How to Troubleshoot iSight.
    If you are still getting red lines on your display when you turn the camera on with any app in any user account you try, see your AASP for service.

  • Having problem with the Lumia 1020 camera

    I got my Lumia 1020 today (from ATT). The camera worked fine when I took some pictures with auto settings. Then when I decided to change the settings the camera apeture closed completly as it was taking a photo...but didn't open again. And still doesn't open. I tried to do factory reset and nothing. Still having this problem. I tried to see if there is any update .. nope. I went to Settings --> Applicatoins and on the camera option there is a Reset Camera. I press there but nothing happen.
    So now everytime I open the camera I see just a black screen with no options on the screen.
    Is anyone having this problem?

    Hi nrabishek,
    Welcome to the forum!
    When did the camera issue start to happen on your Lumia phone? Is it for a 1020 as well, or for another Nokia Lumia phone? Did you try doing the same troubleshooting steps mentioned in the previous post? You may try doing the other fixes shown at this link: Nokia Lumia 1020 - My camera is not working correctly.
    Let us know how it will go.

  • A7000 | The images taken from the front facing camera(FFS) (5MP) are mirrored. Is this an issue?

    Hello Team,
    I just took an image from the FFS off my new A7000 and i noticed that the images are mirrored. Is this a software issue?
    I even owned a A6000 but the images from that were proper.
    As far as i know mirrored image should be displayed while taking the picture but  proper un-mirrored image should be saved.
    Please look into this issue.
    Here is an image(re-sized) i took from FFS which is reversed/mirrored.
    Admin note; picture >100K converted to link.  About posting pictures in the forums.

    Yes i have updated to the latest firmware S141. And yes i am using the default camera app but still the issue exists. Is this a software issue or is it a hardware issue? If its a software issue, then is it possible to fix through future firmware updates? Anyhow i'll take the phone to nearest service center. Can you give me the address for service center in Bangalore(India). Thank you for the reply.
