TS3274 Screen still won't rotate on iPad

Screen won't rotate. The settings show it is unlocked & it's not set to the mute button.
Tried resetting iPad based on other threads & it still won't rotate. Any ideas? Thank you.

If you do not see the padlock icon in the upper right corner, then the screen isn't locked. If the padlock icon is there, the screen is in fact locked. If you don't see the icon, and you have tried resetting the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, try resetting all settings.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but ALL device settings will have to be entered again and that does take some to time to do that again.

    Please HELP!
I just got my Iphone 4s last month. It's kind of an hand-me-down and I don't know about it's first owner but yesterday it was still fine but when I got home, the screen orientation won't rotate anymore. If I unlock the "portrait lock on" it just reverts back to its landscape orientation and won't rotate no matter how much I turn my phone. I really don't know what to do :(

    Hello there, Halloween.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting issues with performance of an iOS device:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro

  • TS3274 Screen image doesn't rotate

Screen image does not rotate with iPad position

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT4085 Did all of these options as instructed.  Screen still doesn't rotate and remains stuck in portrait view

Did all of these options as instructed.  Screen still doesn't rotate and remains stuck in portrait view. Help?

Not sure what you've already tried. Have you locked it using the Side Switch then accidentally changed the side switch to permit Muting/Unmuting?
Settings > General > Use Side Switch to: Lock Rotation (make sure check box is here).
Then try sliding the side switch. Also try turning off the device by holding the power and home buttons, then sliding the red slider to the right (then repower).

  • Screen images won't rotate when I rotate phone

Screen images won't rotate when I rotate phone

It depends on what image you are referring to. Not everything will rotate on the phone, the home screen being one of them. Check to see if Orientation lock is on, it will display a small lock and circular symbol near the battery icon. It is controlled in Control Center. Swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen and Orientation lock is the icon on the far right side of the top row. Tap to turn on or off, white is on, black is off.

  • I tried to remove the rotation lock, it is not off but the screen still will not rotate. Any suggestions?

i tried to remove the rotation lock, it is not off but the screen still will not rotate. Any suggestions?

it is not off but the screen still will not rotate
Well, if it's not off, that means it's on.  So naturally it will still not roate.

  • HT4085 Did everything in the arcticle and app still won't rotate. The same app rotates for coworkers

Did everything discussed in the article and the app still will not rotate. Coworkers with the same app do not have this issue

If you haven't got rotation lock on (other apps and/or the homescreen rotate ?) then try closing the app that isn't rotating via the taskbar and see if it rotates when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then also try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Screen sticking won't rotate

are there any updates coming to solve the screen sticking when it rotates?
my phone sticks in the media player and text messages mostly. i can get it to unstick by closing and reopening the app, or if i rotate my phone all the way around it unsticks.

    User troubleshooting is:
    1.restart, ie power off/on,
    2. reset  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430,
    3. restore from backup, restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You can take it in if you suspect it is a hardware issue.

  • Inbox won't rotate with iPad

My inbox has stopped rotating as I turn my iPad.  All other apps rotate as expected just the inbox that has stopped. Other than this it seems to be working perfectly.
Can anyone help me fix it?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it rotates when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad2 screen locked / won't rotate / locked orientation

Just received my Ipad2 yesterday and found that the ipad2 has occassionally locked the screen to either portrait or landscape orientation(depending on which side you holding) when i flip my smart cover to use.
My ipad2 comes already with IOS 4.3.3
All orientation settings/buttons are in unlocked mode. it is clearly not user issue.
Although i can solve the problem by hard power off and power on back again, it will still occasionally happen.
    Anybody has the same situation?

You posted elsewhere in the iPad forums too and I answered you, but here goes again....

  • TS3274 Yahoo calendar won't sync with Ipad

Up until 2 days ago, my yahoo and gmail calendars were syncing with my ipad without issue, but then all of a sudden, they were not syncing anymore.  I deleted and reinstalled the accounts, but no love.  I have not had a software update or added any applications or accounts that would cause this problem.  My exchange server account and calendar is working fine.  Any ideas?

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. I noticed some of my events were not syncing. I deleted and added the calendar back. Now I have NO events.

  • My iPad 4 won't rotate

My iPad won't rotate. I've already tried rebooting it, resetting all settings, and backing up my iPad and it still won't rotate. My lock rotation is not on. It is an iPad 4 and it is ios7.2.1 it has been happening for about a week now. Please help!

You probably have the screen locked in that way if you double click the home button fast you slide over once to the left. Your left. Then in the circle with an arrow it might have a lock icon if so then tap it if not then i am not sure how to fix this.

  • ITunes won't recognise my iPad since the latest update.

iTunes won't recognise my iPad since the latest update. I have tried the solution on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538, twice over but with no result.
I have repaired each of the iTunes elements and restarted both the computer and the iPad several times.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit operating system.
    Processor: Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
    iOS 8.0.2 iPad 64GB

    Hi Skydiver119
Thanks for your reply. That was what the solution I found on that link I posted, except it said to include the 'Bonjour' too. I've uninstalled everything, downloaded the latest iTunes, reinstalled and restarted the computer twice, but it still won't recognise the iPad. I've also rebooted the iPad each time.
Any other ideas on what might work?
    Thanks in advance

  • TS3274 My iPad screen won't rotate

Please help, I have an iPad 2. My screen won't rotate, I have checked the settings & also the lock on the bottom bar but it's still not working????

Check a number of other topics related to this question - causes include hardware lock (with the rotation / mute switch), software lock (music controls) or possibly an app issue - see this discussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/19636641#19636641 in particular for details on different possible causes as well as links for further information (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085 in particular). If the usual solutions don't work, it may be worth looking into newly installed / updated apps that may hijack the rotation lock as I've just come to experience myself.
