TS3276 deleted mails reappearing

Hi
I have been cleaning up old emails. I have deleted several many times and they keep reappearing my inbox. Any ideas what may be going on. This seems to be happening on one of my yahoo accounts.
Liam

It sounds like you need to setup your account in your browser correctly and then delete Gmail in Mail and add it back with the new settings. See directions here.
Use Gmail with Mavericks Mail

Using Mail 4.5 on my iMac.
I have thousands on emails showing on  ON MY MAC.  When I delete them, they are back moments later.  These are messages that I deleted from the MAILBOXES.  Some of the accounts are POP and some are IMAP.
I also use Mail on my MacBook and I do not have this issue.  There it is Not continually reloading all my deleted mail.
I have my Preferences for the POP account set to "Remove copy from Server after retrieving a message."
On the IMAP & POP account I have checked  "Move deleted messages to Trash Mailbox" and I have Unchecked "Store deleted messages on the Server" on the IMAP account.
How do I stop all this mail from returning?
Also, when using one of my POP accounts to Send mail, it often gets sent from a different POP account - even if it is a Reply email, it doesn't get sent from the email address it was sent to.  THat creates confusion for the person I am trying to communicate with.  The two email accounts do use the same server.
Am I better off making all my accounts either POP or IMAP. THe 3 servers I use can work either way.
    Thanks

so what you are saying is that if you delete mail from iphone trash, and it is still on server, it will be redownloaded?
This is not what is supposed to happen with a POP account. When downloading new messages with an email client for a POP account, there is an option to remove messages from the server when downloaded With the iPhone's Mail client, the options are Never, after Seven Days - after a message has been downloaded, and when removed from Inbox.
With an email client used on your computer for accessing a POP account, there is an option to remove messages from the server when downloaded which is not available with the iPhone's Mail client.
Although a new message downloaded with the iPhone's Mail client cannot be removed from the server when downloaded especially when Never is selected for remove messages from the server when downloaded for the account's settings with the iPhone's Mail client, even though a downloaded message is marked for deletion which moves the message from the account's Inbox mailbox to the account's Trash mailbox, the message should not be downloaded again by the iPhone's Mail client when the account is checked for new messages again. If this is occurring, something is wrong, which deleting and recreating the account with the iPhone's Mail client should resolve.

  • Deleted mails reappear in All Mails

I have two accounts and both are from Gmail.  One is IMAP and the other one is POP3 account.  My problem is that even if I delete the unwanted mails from the account and then go to trash and delete them, I still find all the mails back in 'All Mails'.  Please let me know how to erase deleted mails permanently.  I have Mountain Lion on MacBook Pro.

  • How can I stop deleted mail 'reappearing' in inbox?

I have email [email protected] set up on my mail app on iphone 3gs iOS 4.2.1. I have a small but annoying issue where I read and delete messages from my inbox but next time I check my mail they have reappeared as new unread messages. I have to delete messages then ensure i click trash folder and delete a second time from there. My settings is set to 'delete from server when removed from inbox' but there is also a setting. Deleted Messages Remove 'AFTER ONE DAY'. I cant set it for anything less than that; so is this why I have to keep deleting them over and over again for a day each time?

I have a similar problem with netadress.com. It started after one of the 4.2x updates. When I delete email using the WEB interface, the items are not being deleted from the iPhone inbox. This used to work before 4.2 and have tested on another phone that still had 4.1 which works fine. If I delete on the iPhone, the WEB interface shows the item deleted properly. In fact, even reading on the server does not update the iPhone inbox, which still shows "unread".

  • TS3276 Deleted mail keeps returning

I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion.  In MAIL Gmail All Mail I keep deleting and removing from Trash but the messages keep returning over and over again.

try rebuilding your mailbox.  it may just be that your local storage has gotten out of whack with the online storage; rebuilding should fix that.

  • IMAP: deleted mail reappears, read messages marked Unread again.

I set up IMAP yesterday (I was previously using POP) and now I have a couple problems:
    1) I delete a message and go work on other stuff. Later, the message is back in my inbox again.
    2) I read a new message. Later, it is marked as unread again.
What's the deal? I searched around the forums and didn't see solutions.

  • Deleted mail keeps reappearing in my in box, apparentlt randomly

I am frequently receiving advice I have new mail only to find the new mail is in fact mail dating back some days or weeks. This may be 1 mail or multiple mails, perhaps up to 30 and is a real nuisance, Any advice most welcome, thanks. This only affecting Thunderbird, not Bell / Sympatico.

Deleted mail can reappear if the folder has not been compacted frequently.

Suggest you move all good emails out of Inbox to other suitable folders for organising.
Then delete all emails you do not want.
then right click on Inbox and select 'compact'.
    Then empty the Deleted folder.
Also Empty and compact the Junk folder.

  • TS3276 Is it possible to delete mail from your iPhone and it be deleted from all your Apple devices?

I would like to delete mail from all my Apple devices in one go rather than having to access each individually and then read/delete on each, is this possible? I have a Mac Book Pro an iPad mini and an iPhone 5.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Regards,
    Andy

It depends on the email you use, if you have a provider that only allows POP then it is not possible. If your provider supports Imap or Exchange then it is.
    Who is your email provider?

  • Deleted Items Reappearing in iCal

I am trying to delete items from iCal but they keep reappearing after a few minutes. I'm not syncing to an iPhone, iPod, etc, so I can't figure out why this keeps happening. For example, I am looking at my April calendar, I delete items that I no longer want on the calendar, they appear to be deleted, and then 2 to 5 minutes later they all reappear. If this has something to do with syncing with .mac I can't figure out what. I've tried turing syncing with .mac both on and off to see if that makes a difference and it doesn't appear to. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I had all sorts of weird things happening in iCal this morning: Deleted events reappeared, edited events were accompanied by an empty ghost event that had the default title "New Event", birthday entries were duplicated, etc.
I tried various things and finally what restored everything back to normal so far (fingers crossed), was the removal of a Microsoft Outlook Exchange meeting invite I had recently received in Mac OS X Mail and accepted which then popped into iCal. I deleted the event, Mail sent an automatic Decline email (which I had to manually reply to saying that I am going to the event nonetheless) and now everything seems fine again.
I think there are some significant flaws in the way Microsoft Exchange Calendar events and iCal work together.

  • How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail"     and "Archives"?  To my horror, I've emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes  (and why do I need to enter this question three times?"

How can I prevent deleted mail from ending up in "All Mail" and "Archives"?
To my horror, I emptied these boxes and lost all my mail from all my boxes .
All mail also disappeared from my iPad, I suppose because they are "synched"
(Also, no offense, but why do I need to enter this question multiple times?)
    Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

  • IPhone not deleting mail from server

I realise that this appears to be a recurring problem, but I haven't found a post with an outright solution.
The problem I have is with the the 2 POP accounts. the MobileMe account works fine.
On the phone, I have it set to remove mail from server when moved from the inbox. Unfortunately this does not occur and sure enough the mail reappears on my Mac. I've tried setting the 2 accounts on the Mac to mimic the setting on the iPhone (currently the accounts are set to delete right away) but this also does not work.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have Deleted Messages under Advanced set to Never, but do not have anything available to change about Server settings under Incoming settings - just SSL, Authentication, IMAP Path Prefix, and Server Port.
As already provided, this is an IMAP account.
All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account. You can select to store the account's Drafts, Trash, and Sent mailboxes on the server or locally, but the account's Inbox mailbox is stored on the server and cannot be changed.
When deleting a message from the account's Inbox mailbox with an IMAP account, the message is removed from the account's Inbox mailbox on the server and transferred to the account's Trash mailbox. This will be reflected automatically when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account since all server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
If you have the account's Trash mailbox set to be stored locally, you can try transferring the messages from the account's Trash mailbox back to the account's Inbox mailbox so these messages will be available when accessing the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client on your computer.

  • Deleted mail keeps reloading in my Drafts folder.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, my email keeps putting old deleted messages (usually the same 5 messages) in my Drafts folder. I delete them there, but they just keep coming back. Anyone know how to fix this?
I am running Mavericks on my MacBook Pro with Mail 7.3.

  • How can I delete already deleted mail...it keeps coming back?

What folders do they reappear in?  Is this a gmail account?

  • Delete mail from server after removed from IN BOX

I have a mail management issue I have not been able to fully solve.
I am balancing the same POP email accounts among the laptop using Mail (for home use) and my desktop using Eudora Pro (for work). Using Eudora, I can manually select to delete a message from the server. Eudora's manual deletions are flawless. Using Mail, the only option I can see that will help me do this is to select delete mail "When moved from In Box." If I hit the "delete" key, wouldn't that be the same as "moving if from the IN BOX?" When is the protocol actually carried out? On the next mail check? Immediately? Upon quitting and restarting Mail? I'm confused as to how this happens and why it does not seem to work all of the time.
Any and all assistance is most appreciated.
    Much obliged,
    Mick

Yes, deleting a message counts as moving it out of
the inbox. The commands to remove the message from
the server are sent the next time you check mail from
that server, but only if there are new messages to be
received from the server. Yes, many of us feel that
is a bug in Mail, that it should send the remove from
server commands the next time you check mail, whether
or not there are new messages to be downloaded.
Oh Gawd, I bet that's it. Yes, if that is the case, I would agree. It does not lead to efficient mail management if there needs to be a new message there. Do you know of any plans to change or alter that? Or has someone written an AppleScript of some kind to execute the command regardless?
It's a great command, otherwise. It's nice to be able to delete a message off of one computer and have it delete off of the server without any extra hassle.
Just wondering if there are any workarounds out there other than sending oneself a new message to get the delete from server command to activate.
    cheers,
    Mick
