TS3276 Hotmail on Mac Mail not sending attachments

I have my hotmail account set up with Mac Mail. I can send & receive emails without any problems, however as soon as I attach anything (small or large) it will not send. The same attachments will send fine if I log onto Hotmail through Safari/chrome. This has only been happening in the last week or so.
What do I need to do?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Since moving to iCloud my mail not sending attachments any answers?

    Hi
Since moving to iCloud my mail not sending attachments any answers?

After the migration I started having problems with all NON Apple things.
Now, as of July, 6th this is my situation:
Lion devices and iOS5 devices (MacBook, MacPro, iPhone 4s and iPad I) - fine
have a look here for info:
AUTOMATIC SETUP FOR APPLE MAIL ON LION MACS
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html
Snow Leopard - set up after some trouble using these instructions:
OLDER SERVER FOR APPLE MAIL ON PRE OS 10.7 MACS
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5330
Non Apple clients should work with these instructions but I still cannot get MailForge to work:
    SERVERS FOR GENERIC EMAIL CLIENTS
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
    MOBILE NON APPLE STUFF
With my HP (Palm) Pre 3 I am still figuring out why every single day they change the servers:
this however might help you as the Palm is more similar to the BB than the iPhone:
PALM PRE 3 SETTINGS: I also have updated the password on iCloud, deleted the old iCloud account on the Pre, created a new one. Please note that it now sends using the older server, I do not know for how long.

  • Mac Mail not sending my yahoo emails

Since yesterday, my Mac Mail will not send emails out for my Yahoo smtp email address. This has been set up for almost two years and I did not change anything. I am still receiving my email fine! I'm not getting the normal relay error message I sometimes get with other email accounts. It just sits in outgoing for hours!
    Can anyone help me?

Try opening up a terminal window and telnet to the smtp server's port 25. If that doesn't work, there is probably some firewall issue or you might have mistypyed the name of the smtp server.
The telnet command would look something like ...
    telnet smtp_server 25
If you get a response from the SMTP server, check with your ISP's tech support to verify that you are connecting properly.

  • ATT Uverse and Mac Mail not sending emails!

I've read through all the other discussion topics pertaining to this and tried them all, adding and deleting accounts, setting up my account preferences according to the Uverse help page but nothing seems to work. I can receive emails fine but sending emails doesn't work any more. We just had Uverse installed less than 24 hours ago and ATT tech support won't help me out unless I pay $50! Are you kidding me? Because Mac Mail is a 3rd party app they won't help me solve this annoying issue, they've told me to just use their web mail program instead. I'm not sure what to do at this point, does anyone have some info that may help me out here?

AT&T U-Verse (uverse), as of July 2014, requires that you verify your non-AT&T mail accounts before they allow you to send outgoing non-AT&T mail.
Here's how to verify your non-AT&T mail accounts and link them to your AT&T U-verse account
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22291865
Log into your AT&T U-verse webmail att.net email account (e.g. Yahoo mail)
    > click the gear at upper right of screen next to your name
Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Add
Add your non-AT&T mail accounts/  Enter info they require
U-verse will send a verification email to those mail accounts.
After you reply and verify your identity, you will be able to send outgoing email for those accounts via Mail, so long
    as you have Mail configured.

  • Mac Mail not receiving attachments properly

I have been using Mac Mail 4.4 w/ IMAP for the past year. All was working fine until yesterday. Seems that any attachment sent to me .jpg .pdf etc come in all scrambled as letters and numbers. This has happened from four different people. I can view my email via webmail, attachments are fine there. Has anything changed in the last few days to mail? Help would greatly be appreciated as Apple as said they don't support attachments...

This has been happening on my iPad as well please fix it apple

  • Mac Mail not sending from correct account.

I constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook.
On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else).
When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).
Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address.
It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.
This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients.
This only just started happening to me this past week. Does anyone else have the same issue, and any help would be greatly appreciated

Some mail servers such as gmail will change the address when sending from one account through another account's server.
Go into Mail's preferences under Accounts. Highlight each account and make sure the correct outgoing server is listed for that account with the correct user name and password. Each account should have their own. Check the box to use only that server with that account. Do this for all accounts.
If you don't check the box and the server fails, it will move on to the next one in the list. Then you will get the address from that server even though you're sending from a different account.
If the server does fail, you will get a selection box to try again or select another server.

  • Mail not sending attachments

On behalf of a friend who I usually do phone support for when he has a problem.
    This problem has stumped me!
    Mail 4.5 (1084)
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
He has mail set to access Gmail (IMAP) and it works fine when sending a normal email, however, when sending an attachment, the activity monitor, goes halfway and then the reate drops off and the mesage about cannot be sent from this outgoing server is displayed. - mesage goes to outbox. - Open that message back up, delete the attachment and send, it goes no problems.
Tried to work out what the problem is, by:
checking Gmail (with attachments) through browser, sent OK
trying different file types, jpg, txt, zip, and different ways of attaching them, either from menu or dragging them into the meassga pain. - No send
repair permissions for mac, incase any pref files corrupt. - No send
brand new jpg created from photoshop - No send
image emailed from me, copied to desktop and then sent back to me - No send
So wondering what it could be.
I'm thinking of suggesting he updates to Lion, however, he has some equipment and software (scanner and camera) that may not work with Lion!
You guys got any ideas? - thanks in advance!

    Thanks Gerry
The files are tiny (few kb)
I thought about windows friendly files, but we are both Mac (and Mail) users. I will suggest that.

  • Mail not sending attachments properly

Hi- I'm trying to send clients emails with attachments. They are receiving the emails, but with no attachment. I sent it to a coworker and the attachment was there. Additionally, another coworker sent the same message to the client, and the attachment was sent with it. "Always send Windows-friendly Attachments" is checked, the whole attaching process is completely normal, but some clients are not getting my attachments.
The machine I am using is a Mac Mini with OS 10.5.8, Mail version 3.6.
Any ideas of what I could do?

You aren't the only one having this problem. Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box, other solved threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • .mac mail not sending

I'm receiving mail fine. I haven't adjusted any settings but since around 12pm today mail has stopped sending my emails. They're just sitting in the outbox. Have also tried sending from my gmail account but that does exactly the same thing – just sits in the outbox and the sent folder has a continuously spinning wheel next to it.
    Any ideas?

    Ben,
Again not working, but With Mail on my G4 running Tiger, sending via the smtp.mac.com and that account is working.
In Mail 4.x, on my Mac Pro with SL, it seems that I cannot change to try using smtp.mac.com, and it is constantly changed back to smtp.me.com, and then that fails.
I am trying to check this at a higher level.

  • Mail will not send attachments

Ok riddle me this: I can send and receive mail without trouble. I cannot send any email with attachments. On my campus (high school) all other mac users cannot send attachments. It all started around 12 noon today. We're pretty sure its not an account setting or something. Thanks!!

What indicates you cannot send attachments? Any errormessages?
    Here is what I discovered:
    1) When I send email with an attachment (2 screendumps that I just made) to my Tiger mailserver at home (over the internet) the transmission stops (in this case) at 27%... Looks like the connection was lost... Mail.app tells me that it cannot send email using this smtp-server and offers me to choose another one...
When I look at the log-file on the server at home I see:
Nov 29 08:13:48 Server postfix/smtpd[17690]: timeout after DATA from pbo....
    2) I changed SMTP-server to a relay SMTP-server at the office and retransmitted this email...
The SMTP-server accepted the email and tries to send it to the next relay-SMTP-server...
The process aborts with the message that the 2 SMTP-relays lost the connection while sending the body. This means that while the message has gone out of my Mac, it will probably NEVER reach it's destination!!!
I then logged in onto the relay that the Mac sent the email to, the relay that cannot send it to the next relay.... I went to the postfix directory and found the 'deferred' email...
When I looked at that email-file I was surprised to see that it looked like a mess... Not the kind of email-files that I was used to (I have been a postmaster for many, many years, so I know what email-files should look like!)... It seems that Mail.app has created an outgoing-email-file that is far from perfect, and that SMTP-servers are having troubles receiving those...
Sure wish Apple fixes this problem soon!!!

  • How do I stop Mac Mail from sending an unauthorized "out of office" message to a few, not all, my associates

How do I stop Mac Mail from sending an unauthorized "Out off Office" reply to several, not all, of my associates emails?  Only happens with me.com mailbox, not Earthlink.  Am not getting some important e-mail from brokerage and business associates.

If Earthlink is unaffected it is probably a settimg in me.com.  Log into me.com account in a browser such as Safari (will get icloud.com) and select the settings (gear) icon bottom left, and then click on the airplane icon. Make sure vacation setting is unchecked.

  • When I am sending one message, mac mail shows sending several (6 last time), is it virus?

when I am sending one message, mac mail shows sending several (6 last time), is it virus?
mac mail also freezes from time to time and closes for no reason

It is not a virus. It's a bug in Mail that fails to reset that count, so it keeps incrementing each time you send a message. When it says it's sending 6 messages, that really just means you're sending the 6th message since you last opened Mail.
