TS3276 How do I block an unwanted email sender?

Other than bouncing back to sender, or changing my email address, putting them in junk mail or a file, how do I block my abusive ex from sending me unwanted emails?

FWIW, If there were a simpler way, I would have posted it, and I am not intentionally withholding information here, nor are other folks.
As mentioned upthread, you can use server-side mail rules to delete (and generally not block, nor bounce) incoming mail messages, though whether you or your mail  provider can access the mail server varies by provider, and by mail server.     Some providers have this capability.  Some do not.  Some provide web access into SpamAssassin or other server-side rules.  Others do not.
Check with your mail ISP for details here.
I do use server-side rules to blacklist specific users and specific domains.  This is possible with OS X Server hosting your mail, and with hosting providers that offer SpamAssassin or similar access.
Locally within a client, you can use mail rules within Mail.app or similar mechanisms available within other mail clients to delete messages from specific senders.   Not all mail clients have this capability.  If your mail client lacks rules — such as the iOS mail client — then you can potentially have a computer system — a desktop that can remain powered on at all times — then that system can generally be configured to recieve and delete these mail messages on behalf of the script-less clients.
Alternatively, use the junk button a few times, and train the junk filter to find and nuke the messages.
If you want to see Mail.app  provide a one-click nuke button, then please send the suggestion to Apple.   There's a suggestion submission item within the Mavericks Mail.app menus, and probably earlier.   The  folks might or might not see what's posted here.

On my iPhone 6, how do I block an unwanted email source.  I send a particular piece of spam to "junk," and the next day another piece of spam arrives from the same source.  How do I block the sender permanently?

That's not something you can do from the built in Mail program. Check with your email provider to see if they have spam filters that you can access through their web interface.

How do i block/delete certain senders from sending me emails

remove these senders from your addressbook, if they are there
mark all of their messages you currently have as Junk
create a specific rules and add their addresses to this rule, then have the messages deleted upon arrival
Send them an email asking to leave you alone, perhaps? Unless they are noreply addresses
I'm sure there are other ways.

Hi there irock2! I know how pesky those unwanted calls can become. Since the calls are not coming from a normal 10-digit American number, it may be someone international attempting to reach you. Our Usage Controls http://bit.ly/plz3pA feature offers the ability to block international calls, and even calls from private and restricted numbers. We also offer the option to change your number at no charge through My Verizon http://bit.ly/WJbRNG if you'd like.

  • TS3276 how do I block harassing senders, mail I don't want to receive

I am receiving harassing emails with unwanted suggestions (sometimes suggestions appear sexual).  I want to block these emails from coming thru.  I think they're from the same person, he/she just keeps changing their name & email addr, but most are from hotml.  How can I block these emails?  They are very offensive.  I've already emailed hotml, talked with my provider and talked with the police.  No help

The best option available now is to use the junk mail filtering.

  • TS3276 How do I block a sender who keeps offering me a banking deal?

Mearly every day I receive an email from a Bank with whom I have no account and no dealings. I would like to block this sender from contacting me.

If you are from (Adelaide) Australia, you have the right to unsubscribe from unwanted email. Failure to allow this opt out link, usually at the bottom of the email, carries penalties for the sender. Don't seek a workaround to this,  exercise your right and make it known that you don't wish to receive this.
If notiication to the sender fails to resolve your problem contact ACMA and lodge a complaint.

  • I received a "junk" email that I attempted to dispose of by sending it to "trash" and then deleting it from "trash". At that point, instead of deleting, it simply rotates back into "junk"--and over and over. How do I delete this unwanted email?

I received a  "junk" email and attempted to dispose of it by sending it to "trash" and the deleting it from the trash file (the way I always do). This particular spam, however, instead simply rotates back into the "junk" file-- ad infinatum. How do I eliminate tis unwanted pest?

Try logging on to your email via the web browser (assuming the email account is gmail, yahoo, etc) and deleting the email from there. It could just be that the email program on the iPad is not properly synching with the web server so the email keeps re-downloading.

  • How can I block persistent unwanted text messages from Games Co.

One day an uninvited text message arrived on my iPhone to click to win an iPad. Stupidly I clicked, won nothing, but now I get daily SMS messages and Safari website from a US games Co. Trying to sell games, wallpaper and other junk. Trying to unsubscribe the "home" website is a blank page and the contact phone number is permanently engaged. This is more than inconvenient it's stressful. How can I block this daily scam on my iPhone?

It is pure and simple deception and Apple should have a remedy.
You're right. I mean, all they have to do is snap their fingers and wish the scam out of existence.
What makes you think Apple is responsible for chasing down scams on the Internet?

  • Blocking an unwanted email address

does anyone know if you can specifically block someone's email address so they know you have blocked them? I realize that the "bounce" allows you to, but I would like to do it permanently, or at least until I choose otherwise. Thanks.

    MKurpier:
Although Apple Mail does not allow you to block senders, you can log into your ISP's webmail account and you can often do it there. That is actually the portal for incoming mail. However, it can be an exercise in frustration, as they often change their address sufficiently to get by the blocking software. But if you make a point of doing it regularly you are able to eliminate a few over time. I have one email address where this is a constant problem, while other addresses with the same provider get no junkmail at all. I may just end up changing that email address.

  • How do I get to the rules section in iCloud mail on my iPad. I want to block just one email sender.w do I post

How dom I get to the rules box in iCloud mail on my iPad. I just want to block one address.  Thanks

The replies have helped me to conclude that in this instance apple have failed by a long shot to provide any reliable help.  I have exchanged chats with them and been told to just read variuos support notes which explain how to set the rules on an iPad.  After many exchanges I was not convinced they had grasped the real problem.  In the end they would appear to be wrong in the advice given.  Apple were no help at all, I gave your replies a HELP star because they helped me conclude that.
The situation was and still is, the iPad was a gift to an 85 year old relative of mine, she loved it, really getting used to emails, photos,, web and so on.  Suddenly things started to go wrong, photos started failing freezing up during uploads and albums sharing etc.  in the end had to dump everything and with help call on Dropbox, all well now with that. Then an email from one of her eldly friends was delivered every 10 minutes, over 400 panic.  Nobody  gave any simple answer to her of the sender to stop the emails.  She called me, 500 miles away to see if I could help, yep I said until you get someone close to help you just block that email address, easy or so I thought, you know the trauma from there.
I got the roundabout way to stop them with my own winbox and iPad., she as just got the iPad and is housebound.  I have offered that if she gives me her security info I'l  log into her iCloud mail in windows and set the rules and any other preferences for her.....highly desirable solution isn't it.
I,ll say to anyone that apple and many of it apps are not user friendly and fail badly.  Sorry for being a bit longwiinded in this reply but it's given me some experience with this facility that again was not easy to master.

  • TS3276 How do I delete a large email that has crashed my mail system?

I have sent an email that is too large, and appears to have crashed the mail system. I have accidentally done this before, and got help from the call centre (they are closed today) but cannot remember how to fix the problem by deleting the large outgoing meassage.
How do I delete that message from the computer?

Try sending it in the Apple Mail program. I just did that. It has a provision for sending large files through the cloud.
Following are the instructions. It's easy -
