  • Import email from apple mail not working

    I have a simple applescript which imports emails from Apple Mail into filemaker
    tell application "Mail"
              set theSelection to selection
              set theMessage to item 1 of theSelection
              content of theMessage
              set the clipboard to content of theMessage as text
    end tell
    This works in the Old Apple Mail in 10.6 but Lion changes everything doesnt it. This is not working in the new Mail 5.1. It will import the first message in the string but not the HIGHLIGHTED message which may be in the message string of 3 or 4. I want it to set theMessage contents of the highlighted message. Does anyone know how to select the highlighted message in a string - sometimes called the selected message. Thanks

  • Move emails from apple mail to windows outlook

    Hello Everyone,
    I have recently bought a windows laptop as majority companions in my office have windows only. I also have mac book pro having apple mail as my e-mail client. I work in a small company in which e-mail is the life blood of our company. So now what I need to do is move all my emails from apple mail to outlook that is present in windows laptop. I haven't found any answers or discussions regarding this topic on this forum site. Can any one please help me get over with this problem or atleast guide me or direct me to the forum where solution for this query is posted.
    Your help will be really appreciated. Thank you.

    If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
    But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
    Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email programs. Then when you logon with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.

    Sorry but this didn't work. I have around 4000 mails in some what 45 folders. Using IMAP i can transfer only one file at a time, that will take me days to transfer that amount of files.
    Are there any other options available...???

  • How to get notes from Apple Mail to iPad Notes?

    Greetings,
    I can not seem to find any way to get notes from Apple Mail on my Mac to Notes on my iPad.
    What the heck do I have to do?
    There is no Notes sync option in iTunes.
    Also, I can not sign in to MobileMe in my System Preferences. It alway says the member name or passowrd is wrong. How do I find out what my member name is? I only know my Apple ID which is an email addres, and that does not work. I am able to sign into MobileMe on my iPad.
    Help

    On your phone.  If you have Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud, and also had notes on the phone prior to turning on this setting, you should have two accounts in the notes app: On My iPhone and iCloud (listed as your iCloud ID).
    Did you have notes on your phone prior to turn on Notes in Settings>iCloud?  Is Notes turned to On in Settings>iCloud now?

    I can export a csv file but verizon does not seem to like it.

    There are many V Card converter programs. This is one of them. I have not used or tested it. Do search on the web for .vcf to .csv.

  • How can I copy and paste quoted emails from Apple Mail v4.5 into another application?

    Hi,
    Having just moved from Entourage to Apple Mail on an Exchange back-end, everything is running smoothly except for one thing - when I copy emails that include quotes from replies (i.e. those coloured vertical lines down the left of the message) and paste them into other applications (Word, TextEdit, etc.) these indentations are not preserved, and instead each line starts at the left margin. This makes following interleaved conversations in the pasted document very difficult. It's as though Mail allows me to copy the view onto the message, rather than the source of the message (I believe that Mail simply reinterprets the '>' quote indentations for presentation, but retains these in the stored message).
    How can I restore copying of quote indentation in Apple Mail for pasting in other documents?
    CT

    You will need Pages or a sjmilar word processing program for this, TextEdit doesn't appear to be capable. Using Pages:
    Open your message. From the 'View' Menu choose "Message>Raw Source'.
    Copy the body of the message.
    Paste into a Pages Word Processing blank template.
    Open Find, click 'Advanced'.
    Set 'Find' to '>' (no quotes)
    Set 'Replace' to tab (select from the 'Insert' drop-down menu)
    Click 'Replace All'.
    Set 'Find' to '=20' (no quotes)
    Set 'Replace' to a single space.
    Click 'Replace all'.
    Obviously this will lose the colours which identify the level of quotes but you will have the indentation.

  • Can't send talktalk emails from apple mail.

    My talk talk inbox on the apple mail programme is stubbornly empty and I can't send emails from it. My aol account works fine. It's a POP setting account I think and the incoming port number is correct at 110. Don't know how to check the outgoing port which I gather should be 587. How can I repopulate my inbox and send emails from the laptop again? I can from my phone and iPad.

    No, there have been no problems here. Run Connection Doctor, and tell us what it reports, particularly about the SMTP?

  • AppleScript to auto BCC emails from Apple Mail

    I recently moved the email out of Entourage and into Apple Mail for a company I do business for. I created a rule for them which does not run automatically, see my other post <a href="https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3300257">here</a>. Having experimented with variations on the rule and searched for answers on the web I have come to the conclusion that I may not be able to get the rule to run automatically. I found various suggestions on the web for using Terminal to automatically BCC sent emails but the downside is that it appears that you then can't send BCC emails to anyone else without using Terminal to disable this, which is not an option.
    The best alternative would appear to be an AppleScript but I can't find anything suitable. Can anyone suggest a script that can be added to an Apple Mail rule so that all emails sent from '[email protected]' are automatically forwarded to '[email protected]'

    Look, if I were going to do what you're trying to do, I would stop fiddling with rules and set up a launch agent that would periodically (once a day, once an hour, whatever your needs are) forward all unforwarded emails to the people they need to be forwarded to.  That requires two components: a launchd plist (which goes in ~/Library/LaunchAgents or /Library/LaunchAgents) and a script file (which can go anywhere, but /Library/Scripts would be conventional).  the launchd plist looks soemthing like this (save it as user.mail.forward.plist):
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
              <key>Label</key>
              <string>user.mail.forward</string>
              <key>ProgramArguments</key>
              <array>
                        <string>osascript</string>
                        <string>/Path/to/scriptfile.scpt</string>
              </array>
              <key>StartCalendarInterval</key>
              <dict>
                        <key>Hour</key>
                        <integer>18</integer>
                        <key>Minute</key>
                        <integer>0</integer>
              </dict>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    That runs the script once a day at 6:00 pm.  the script itself would look something like this:
    property lastForwardingDate : (current date)
    property bccRecipientAddresses : {"[email protected]", "[email protected]"}
    tell application "Mail"
              set unforwardedMessages to messages of mailbox "Sent" of account "gmail" whose date sent > lastForwardingDate
              repeat with thisMessage in unforwardedMessages
                        set messageToForward to redirect thisMessage with opening window
                        tell messageToForward
                                  repeat with thisRecipient in bccRecipientAddresses
      make new bcc recipient at end of bcc recipients with properties {address:thisRecipient}
                                  end repeat
                                  set lastForwardingDate to date sent of messageToForward
      -- send
                        end tell
              end repeat
    end tell
    This is a testing version, where the email pops up so you can see what it looks like before it gets sent.  in the final version you'll want to delete the 'with opening window' phrase (so that the emails are generated invisibly in the background) and uncomment the 'send' line (so that the emails are sent automatically).
    You'll can try replacing 'forward' with 'redirect': redirect sends the email to the new recipient exactly like the old; forward sends a quoted version.  not sure which you prefer.
    warn people that they should expect to see extra email activity periodically, and that they may see emails appear in their drafts mailbox (which will happen if they are offline when the script runs - they'll get sent later). Also, you should probably set permissions so people can't edit the script file - if it gets saved again it recompiles, which will reset lastForwardingDate to the date it recompiles, and may cause some emails not to get forwarded.

  • Please Help! Trouble sending email from Apple Mail to PC-users

    When sending email in RTF format from Mail to PCs, we have som trouble which I havent found out how to solve:
    1) the PC user gets a scrambler email, in which some of the text is like "chinese". Illegible! This seems to happen especialle with PDFs attached.
    2) Graphics or pictures we wish to appear directly in the mail is not visible to the receiver, but is only included as attachments.
    I know most mail encoding problems can be avoided if we send mail i the "old" simple text format. But we wish to send mails in which our company logo appears in the signature, and sometimes we send graphics and pictures that we wish to be seen directly in the mail (and not as attached files only).
    I have set the preferences so that mails as standard are send in RTF format and attachments are send in the "windows friendly" mode.
    What really irritates me is that we have more success sending PC friendly mails from Entourage. But for two other reasons we wish to use Mail instead of Enrourage (Entourage has more crash downs/"broken" database issues. And we use Plaxo which does not sync with Entourage)..
    Could some of you Please help or direct me to helpfull info?
    Sincerely ...Peter and Thomas

    Hello Peter.
    Your OS detail provided indicates you are running 10.3.9 but you posted in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger discussions.
    1) When you say PC user, more than likely the PC users reporting this problem are using Outlook for their email client since Outlook has always had problems with Mail's RTF and sometimes severe problems depending on the version used by the recipient. Using Plain Text for message composition will resolve this but check this link for an alternative.
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/woutlook.html
    2) All Mail.app versions prior to Tiger Mail (2.x) do not support composing in HTML. RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML but Tiger Mail does not include an HTML composer/editor.
    The Mail.app displays all photo/image and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off. This is not the same as being embedded which cannot be done with any Mail.app version directly regardless. Depending on the recipient's email client and available settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient (as when receiving such attachments with the Mail.app) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
    The same in reverse. Photo/image attachments to a Windows Outlook message appear as attached files only when the message is sent but when sent to a Mail.app user, such attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened which the Windows Outlook user has no control over.
    The company logo included with your Signature is likely appearing as an attached file to the message only but how the logo appears when opened by the recipient depends on the recipient's email client.
    The only thing the Windows Friendly Attachment option does is remove the Apple resource fork for attached files which are invisible to fellow Mac users.

  • No one is getting my emails from apple mail????

    Emails appear to be sent from my computer but no one is getting my emails????? any ideas???

    The only detail you've given is that it's been "working fine", so without making any assumptions about how many messages you've sent and to whom:
    * Have your recipients verified that the messages haven't gone into a junk or spam folder?
    * Do the recipients have a filter on their incoming mail to verify that the header matches the DNS address for the sending server? Is forward and reverse DNS set up for your SMTP server?
    * Can the recipients check to see if their server has received your mail?
    * Can you connect via SMTP to their mail server without using Mail.app? (open a terminal window and telnet to their mail server, port 25 to see if you get a response)
