TS3276 iCloud email problems

my iCloud account has stopped receiving email. Senders get a message saying that the email was blocked. I don't know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Icloud email problem

I am using icloud email on my Mac Mail client. Problem is that i can receive emails but cannot send any mail while i m in Dubai region.. i am using the default settings which icloud configured... and the same settings work while i am in other country.. it gives an error to select an outgoing smtp server.
The issue remains even after i tried different smtp settings as suggested on google

You have been using MobileMe's email settings, which sometimes continue to work for a time after migration but then get turned off. iCloud's mail server settings are different. Strictly speaking Lion 10.7.2 is required for iCloud, and on that Mail is set up automatically.
Snow Leopard cannot access most of iCloud's facilities, however you can set Mail up manually to access your email. The method is described here:

Transfer MobileMe to iCloud - email problem

I transferred from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday
I am using the same .mac address but have changed my AppleID to this as suggested
I now see an iCloud account on all my devices (iMac, iPhone and iPad2)
I receive emails but the inbox only holds one or two messages and then seems to shift them direct to Archive
I can't read archive file on the regular Mail programme - only by going to iCloud.com.
I have not instituted any rules on iCloud but it seems to be behaving as if I have?
Any ideas??

Same bloody thing here. I've gotten several different errors. iCal invites won't sync from mail to my calendar. My password hasn't changed, I've logged onto iCloud, no problem. Why did't Apple just create a .cloud email addy? On top of this, since Lion, I've seen more spinning coloured wheels and just frozen apps than I care to see. I'm thinking all of this was shoved out the door before it was ready. I regret the upgrade and am seriously thinking of a reinstall to SL. Starting to think I am dealing with Windows. Since the update to the ios, I've lost a chunk of my email. I'm sick of these issues. Please give me software that will allow my Mac Pro and super HS connection work for me. Gawd.

iCloud email on OSX 10.8 does not connect to the server after sleep. The only way I can reconnect the iCloud email is to restart the computer. Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

I would suggest you try opening "Mail">click on "Mailboxes" in the Menu Bar> and select "Rebuild" from the list. That may solve it.

AOL and iCloud email problem - any ideas?

Hey everyone!
I have three email accounts — gmail, aol and iCloud (which migrated from mobileme). Recently only the gmail will work in Apple mail on my iMac. I have attempted to remove the accounts in system preferences under mail contacts and calendars and add them back but it's failing. With AOL, it says Connection failed. This also happens if I use outlook for mail instead of Apple Mail. With iCloud, all services will turn on except Mail/Notes. It will look like it's on then you browse away from the setup window and go back and it's been turned off.
I've been reading about issues with iCloud mail, but am confused now with the AOL issue as well, which I haven't seen listed anywhere.
So far, I have created a new user and the problem persists. I also installed a fresh copy of lion over my copy (not an erase and install, just a reinstall leaving my files in tact). When I attempt this on my MacBook running 10.7.2, I have neither problem. All my accounts work perfectly.
I'd apppreciate any suggestions you might have!

I just wanted to update this in hopes someone can recommend a solution.
I erased my drive today and tested it and it worked. I restored from a time machine backup and it stopped working. Then I erased again, verified it was working and manually placed my files back on the machine. After reinstalling all my store, it stopped again. Clearly, there's something installed in the system that is conflicting with the mail setup. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. The problem persists on other uses on the machine, so it isn't user specific.

hi....have a problem ! My email that I used for my I cloud was hacked ..I have a new email address now but how can i change it on my I cloud ? Do I have to set up a new iCloud and if so what happens to all my stuff in the old account ?

Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.
Your contents and data will not be affected. They will disappear from your devices when you sign out but will reappear when you sign back in (allow time for this to complete).

What's up with ICloud mail? Has anyone received an answer from Apple?

I'm on Mountain Lion. I've already tried Snow Leopard as well as Lion (my MacBook Pro orginally came with Snow Leopard, upgraded to Lion when it was released.) The problem with iCloud is only the email part. I can access the iCloud website/Find My iPhone/etc. on the website as well as all my devices. The only problem lies with the email. I get the spinning then "Cannot Load Mail" on the iCloud site/Email portion, and on iPhone "Username/Password may be incorrect," but everything is correct.
I've read A LOT of people having the same problem, but theirs seem to get resolved within several days. It's been over 2 weeks for mine.

Suddenly all my computers are asking for my email password and then not accepting it when I do enter it. This began suddenly on my two computers and my iPhone. All running the most current OS. I am able to sign into iCloud, and the iTunes store, it's just email that is accepting the password. Any suggestions?

Exact same problem for me today. All of a sudden too.
When I came to the Apple support site and tried to login using my password it wouldn't work so I used the password reset.
I went back to my Mail with that new password and was able to get 'online' for mail.

This what works fine: I can send email out fine. I recieve solicitor emails/junk mail (i.e., Shutterfly). I recieve email from private senders(friends), even if it in a group message.
This where the proble is: I cannot receive emails when the sender responds by choosing "reply or reply all" and a day or two passes and that person recieves a response that the message failed or was not delievered. It lists an email address that is not our
I have trouble shooted to see if emails are receieved from our servers wedsite and all is delivered correctly.
The problem onle seems to be if I use my email from the Mac "stamp" icon.

If you are sending and receiving some mail with the Mail.app tool ("the stamp icon" tool) and having issues receiving certain mail from certain senders, then your local settings are likely correct.
If you're not running your own mail server here, you'll want to contact whomever is providing your mail services for assistance with this. (Given Mail.app is working, this is likely the mail server that's involved.)
If you are running OS X Server as your mail server, then this would imply either a mail server configuration issue or a DNS configuration issue, or possibly both. If you post your public domain, folks here can verify the DNS configuration, or you can perform the same checks with the dig command:
Launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and...
dig +short example.com MX
dig +short mail.example.com
dig +short -x returned.ip.address
If DNS is correct, then the dig MX record for your domain (first command) will return the host name of your mail server. The forward translation of your mail server host name (second command) will provide the IP address, and the third command should return the same name as your MX record and the input to the second command.
You'll also need to look at the mail server logs, to see if you can determine why some of the mail is bouncing. (Getting the wrong host name for your mail server — the so-called MX record — from public DNS will definitely cause messages to be misrouted, so that'd be one of the first details to investigate.)

I am trying to send some photos by email from iPhoto. I get an error message: The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination.
There is no option tom re-enter an email password - it is supposed to be going from my standard email (gmail) address, for which my Mac is signed in un=der a password which gmail accepts. What can i do?

You can re-enter your password under iPhoto > Preferences > Accounts. However, if you have 2-step verification enabled on your Google account, your usual gmail password will not work. You must generate an application-specific password: https://www.google.com/settings/security (App passwords). Use this generated password in your iPhoto account preferences for Gmail, and it should work!

Need help regarding Icloud-Email problems

I got a new appleID, but in order to sync it to itunes, i have to enter the old appleID password wich i don't remember. when i after i entered the old email in the "forgot appleID" section, i did not get an email. i did this several times, but i have never got a mail on either one of mye email-adresses.

How can I fix my icloud email problems?

That is correct. That is Activation Lock, the antitheft feature of the iPhone. Only the person who registered the old Apple ID and has the password can unlock it.

You don't need to start a new thread to continue a conversation, you can just tack onto the original one. The settings I referred you to are for the Blackberry, since that's the device which is not receiving mail: anything which is working can be left alone.

Your iCloud and @icloud.com login ID is an Apple ID. Go to http://appleid.apple.com and sign in with the ID you use to sign into iCloud (you can check this by going to http://www.icloud.com and signing in there).
Click 'Password & Security' in the sidebar and you will be able to change the password.
HOWEVER
Before you do this you must turn off 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' if you have it enabled on any of your devices, otherwise you will land yourself in difficulties.

Problem setting up an iCloud email

I'm trying to set up an iCloud email on my iPad. I typed in the email address that I would like to use. When I hit DONE it says "there was a problem turning on your email. Please try again later"
It's been doing this for the past 2 days.

Do you have an apple id? If not at bottom of icloud will say create a free icloud account and just follow the steps. If you already have an apple id you need to turn on notes or mail in icloud and it will prompted you to create a free @icloud.com attached to your current apple id. If you get error message or stop on a screen tell us so we can help. Also you can always check with apple because they make the apple ids, if you needed to.
