TS3276 Imac with Mountain Lion can receive mail but when to access it it says -no associated application could be found

Try to open mail message shows-no associated application could be found.

Looking around, you seem to be all over the place on this.
Try resetting Launch Services:
See here: http://macs.about.com/od/usingyourmac/qt/remove-duplicate-applications-from-open -with.htm
There is both command line instructions and links to GUI-based programs you could use.

Just got new MacBook air. Having trouble with email, can receive mail but cant send. Any suggestions?

If you still have the MobileMe account setting up the Mail App should be very simple BUT if you do not you WILL need the incoming and outgoing server setting and the easiest way is to follow the email cheat sheet by apple
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
You WILL need to contact your Email Service Provider for this

Running iMac OS X Yosemtie 10.10.2. Cannot send or reply to emails. Can receive but not send. Have tried all the recommended fixes without success. Even used the same data/setup that's on my wife's Mac. The ATT and Yahoo mix seems to be the issue.  If anyone has experienced this issue I like to know if you found a fix that works.

I noticed another symptom that may shed some light on the same problem.

In all my incoming messages, links do not work.  The error message reads=No associated application can be found.  Any hints?

Open Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the General tab.
Select Safari from the pop up menu next to:  Default web browser
If that doesn't help, launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Click:  Verify Disk Permissions
Restart your Mac when it's finished.
    Try Mail.

  • I can log on icloud on pc but when i enter password on my ipad mini first gen with ios8 it tells me wrong password. and i can receive mail but cannot send any mail via icloud, gmail, yahoo never had to set this up with ios7. how do i resolve this?

I updated my ipad mini first gen 32gig (4.3gig free) to run ios8 8.0(12A365) and i have a problem sending emails. i can receive mail but when i send it fails. my dropbox works fine, safari, and other apps work fine on the internet just the receiving of mail. Do i need to add a new outgoing server, though i dont remeber having to do this when i updated to ios7. how do i resolve this?

Here's a troubleshooting article from Apple:  iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
It doesn't seem to cover your specific issue, but have you tried using a different network (either a different wi-fi network, or switching from wi-fi to cellular or vice-versa if you have a wi-fi+cellular iPad)?
For GMail, iCloud and Yahoo, copies of messages are stored on their respective servers, so you could try deleting the account on your iPad, then re-adding each account one at a time to see if that resolves the issue.

Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable.

  • My iMac running Mountain Lion can't see my iMac running Snow Leopard on my network.

My iMac running Mountain Lion can't see my iMac running Snow Leopard on my network.  Both Macs work fine and the SL Mac can see and connect to the ML Mac.

    There isn't a script.
Mail connects to any standard email server.
Open the Connection Doctor from the Window menu.
Click Show Details and Check Again.
What errors does it post trying to connect to your email provider.
I dont' think there is any personal information in the output, but you might want to sanitize the output in a text editor before posting the output here in case there is a login user name or something like that.

  • I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion - signing out means losing contacts, etc.

Help.  I have tried to sign out of I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion but it says if I do so it will either delete my contacts, documents, etc. from the computer. Something is not right here.  How can I prevent this from happening?  Thank you.

You have to remember that your email, calendars and contacts live on the iCloud server, not on your Mac, and your Mac reads them from there (like webmail)*. So if you sign out, you don't affect the actual data in any way because it's still on the server, but your Mac loses access to it. When you sign back in it's all still there.
However, as Julian says, there is no reason to sign out unless you are actually having a technical problem that may be solved by signing out and in again. The whole idea is to stay signed in at all times.
*Just to clarify, your Mac maintains a cached copy of the data to speed things up, and so that you can still see it when you are signed in but have no internet connection; but this cache is deleted when you sign out. For practical purposes you can ignore it. As with all caches (and your Mac has a lot) it's hidden (hence the name) and can't be regarded as an actual copy.

if you have internet sharing on imac with Mountain Lion its stil problem with sleep mode ! why ???

Log a bug with Apple, with whatever details you can provide.  In the interrim, consider acquiring a router; either a repurposed x86 box running open-source networking or gateway software, or a commercial device.

  • Why does my iMac with Mountain Lion fail to print.

My iMac with Mountain Lion fails to find my 2 networked printers on 50% of the occasions I try to print.  Even though I have earlier switched the iMac on, the only way I can get the iMac to see the printers is to restart the iMac?  After that I have no more probs.  Leaving the iMac on standby overnight doesn't seem to help as the problem frequently re-occurs the next day
The Brother Laserjet printer and iMac are cabled to my router, while the HP Photoprint uses wi-fi connection. There is a PC/Windows 7 also on the network which shares the printers.
I seem to get no help from the Printer utilities in system preferences.
Any suggestions what I need to do to eliminate this apparent breakdown in communication between the printers and my iMac.

    Hello Mike17swr,
Thanks for the post. I'm not sure which model of Photosmart printer that you have connected, but I have included a link below with some great t-shooting steps to help identify the issue.  Good Luck!

Try downloading the update from the Apple Downloads site. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658

  • I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto.  Every time I try to export to iPhoto slideshow folder, it freezes.  Help!

I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

    Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
    HD/ Library
    and
    HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
