In sending photos by email from iPhoto on Macbook Air 10.9.1 my Yahoo account password was not recognised?

Make sure the password is correct here:
In iPhoto > Preferences > Accounts > Select your Yahoo account on the left > Password
If your Yahoo account is not there, click the + and add it

    Or
IMHO the better  course is to set Mail as the iPhoto email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Sending photo in email from iphotos

When I try to send a photo by email I get the following error message 'This message coiuld not sent. It will remain in your Outbox intil it can be sent.
This message could not be sent because your account does not have a preferred outgoing mail server. Select an outgoing mail server from the list below."
There is no list of servers. What do I do or could some clever person suggest a way of getting photos from my iphoto on my Mac to my iphone 4.

Go  into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account and then add it back.
A better solution, IMO, is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto in iPhoto's General preference pane.  Mail is more reliable, gives better access to your Contacts and also has templates in its stationary section.

  • Sending photos by email from iPhoto

    Hi
when I try to share photos from iphoto by email I can't as I keep getting a message that says:
'The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination.'
How can I fix this?  I have had a few issues with this.
    Many Thanks

Saving and deleting attachments When you open a message with attachments, the header area lists the number and size of the attachments. To specify where attachments are saved: By default, attachments are saved in the Downloads folder, accessible in the Dock. You can specify a different folder. Choose Mail > Preferences and click General. From the “Downloads folder” pop-up menu, choose Other and select a location. To save an attachment: Drag the attachment to your desktop to save it there. Control-click the attachment in the message body and then from the shortcut menu, choose where to save the attachment. In the message header area, click Save (or Save All, if there are multiple attachments). Choose File > Save Attachments and select a location. To delete attachments: To delete all the attachments in a message, choose Message > Remove Attachments. The message remains in the mailbox, with a notation that the attachments were manually removed.  Mail will not delete an attachment that you have edited or saved. Attachments are deleted when you delete the message. To have Mail delete attachments when you quit Mail, or to not delete them, choose Mail > Preferences, click General, and then choose items from the “Remove unedited downloads” pop-up menu. If you open an attachment in a message, Mail temporarily saves the attachment in the Mail downloads folder, located in the Library folder of your home folder. Related Topics attachments
If I understand you correctly, if not, let's try again.

  • Sending photos as email from iPhoto

Even though it is asking for user/psswd as the error,  it has to be the correct smtp address for it to recognize your 'correct' user/psswd.
Here's the issue, it is assigning a user name to smtp and asking for my password. As far as I know smpt and my mail prefs it states "smtp authentication method: none". Yet it furnishes a username that I've used before but is no longer in use.
It is possible it needs authentication method.

How can I compress photos when emailing from iPhoto?
current photos are 7-8Mb each if I just attach them directly

Aperture won't delete the photos from your iPhone. Most users have settled on using Image Capture ater importing into Aperture to delete the photos from the iPhone.

Are you using Yosemite and not apple's Mail app? Then you may need to set up an app-specific password: See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • Can not send photos by email using iphoto

hello ...I can not send any photos using iphoto as i have changed my email address,  I can not change it on the email ..as a box comes up saying ...Email server did'nt recognize user name/password.  ??? where do I change  my old Email to my new one  it is getting very frustrating,   please help  Marie

Not sure what you tried but the starting point would be:
Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Click on the + sign to add an account. From the first screen you are presented with, providing the email address and password you enter is correct, Mail will try and auto configure your account. If it can't do it on its own you'll need to input extra information from your ISP - pop or imap server address, smtp server address, authentication info, etc.
Once the email account is up and running, to directly email from iPhoto go to iPhoto>Preferences>General tab and select Mail from the drop down menu against 'Email photos using...'.
To email a photo from within iPhoto '11, select a photo, click on the 'share' button, bottom right of the screen and select 'email'.

  • When emailing from iPhoto I keep on getting 'server not responded' message.

Would anyone be able to help with the issue I have with iPhoto. Every time I try to email photos directly from iPhoto I get this message 'server not responded'. I have the lates Mountain Lion OSX installed on MBA. Also, in addition to iCloud account I tried to add two more email accounts to iPhoto hoping that this might solve the problem, but it didn't. Would anyone have any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
    Thank you.

    Marius,
set the mailer in the iPhoto Preferences to "Mail.app", not to "iPhoto"
    iPhoto > Preferences > General
              Email Photos using: Mail
This way you will be able to mail your photos directly from iPhoto, but you cannot use the iPhoto cards; use the Mail Photo stationary instead, once the mail panel opens.
For some reason mailing using iPhoto as Mailer works for me only, if I am mailing from my iCloud accoun,t and if Mail is set to use the iCloud account by default.

  • Cannot send photos via email from within iPhoto

Hi, I used to use the functionality to send photos directly from iphoeto by email, using the templates provided.
    It has always worked.
I have not used it since the last update to iPhoto 9.3, but it does not work anymore.
    I get an error:
"Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.
Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later."
My mail is working fine, I can send and receive.
I did not change any email settings for a very long time.
    Settings in iPhoto seem fine.
    Anyone can help ?
    Thanks !

In the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete that account and re-enter
    OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple Mail as your e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Sharing photos by email from iPhoto 11 takes far too long. Easier to specify email via Mail in iPhoto Preferences and forget the fancy presentation in iPhoto.

Though there is an attractive range of photo presentation options in iPhoto email sharing, the time taken to send an image using these is inordinately long: 4-5 minutes for a single image. Added to this is all the confusion created by 'unrecognised username and password' error messages. All in all; though it's a pity given the sophistication of the new options, it is easier and much faster to set the email option to Mail in the iPhoto General Preferences. An unfortunate shot in the foot by Apple I think.

iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback is the route to the Developers.
Also, remember that the Stationery feature in Mail has more templates - and you can download others too.

i have an existing me.com email on my IPAD2, then i had my iphone 5 activated, created an Icloud email, which is not working.
The outgoing email was rejected by the server. What changes do i need to do on the Settings to correct this?

If the settings are correct?, Then delete the account and start over. You may also try to restart your phone by holding the home and off button down till the apple symbol comes up.
