TS3276 mail 4.5 unable to send?

Hi all,
I have 3 email acct and all work fine on my old imac.
Got a MacBookPro and copied the exact same settings from my mail app and except for iCloud/me, they do not allow me to send. I do recieve all emails.
When I run connection doctor all get green lights and 1 red ligh as well!
When mail is open all 3 accts look normal and running, until I try to send. Then a warning window on top of the message pops up saying the sender address was rejected by the server smtp.me.com (or the gmail or send.one.com too) and it shows my those servers are offline, yet in the connection doctor green lights for all but also red for gmail and send.one as well.
Very confused here, any help would be gratetely appreciated.
Thank you!
Rodolphe

Hi Slayzr
I am in the UK and eventually found the problem was due to my BT Home Hub Router.
I found this fix below on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4604180?start=15&tstart=0
It worked for me.  If you can't link to the URL, here is the body of the text
There's an issue related to the BT homehub that is providing a hostname that is "syntactically incorrect" for several smtp server.
Here's how you can fix it.
Using your internet browser, go to the address "192.168.1.254
- Follow instructions to reset your password if asked.
- Then go to "Settings", then "Advanced Settings" and "home network"
You will see there all the devices that are connected or that has been connected before. It's gonna be easyer if yout computer is the only one connected.
Your computer should have a name like "unknown-xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ...
Click on this name, chose another name without any special characters, like "macbook" for exemple.
And then click on "apply"
- restart your computer.
That should fix the issue.
Credit goes to vincentfromcork for providing me with the solution.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • I recieve mail but am unable to send mail! Bill

I can receive mail on my ipad but can not send . Any suggestions?
    Bill

It would help to tell us what kind of mail service you have (POP and/or IMAP), what providers you use, do you only have one email account and if not, do all of them prevent you from sending?  Have you ever been able to send, how long has this been going on?
My guess is that you are not using the right server for email output; are you sure you have the right address, did you define one in the setup?

  • Mail Problem. Unable to send.

    Hi
My email just stopped sending (still receives). No setting have changed. I have tried dumping preferences, reinstalling account with no luck, I get the same error. Webmail is working fine (Sends and receives). Account also works on my iphone with no problems. My SMTP shows as (offline) — all settings are correct.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

There's a whole lot of details and info missing here and honestly you'll probably have better luck asking in the Mail forum.
Under Mail > Window > Activity and see if any error messages pop up in the window while sending. You will have to turn your SMTP back on again to test.
Mail > Window > Connection Doctor is another tool you can try that should show exactly where the process is failing.
    Good luck!

  • Can receive emails but unable to send

    Hello
I have a yahoo account and use a macbook pro.  I am able to receive mail through Mail but suddenly unable to send.  Have checked the smtp numbers and all seem to be the same as the yahoo support page.  Would be so grateful if someone was able to help.  Many thanks.

Have you tried to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars, remove the mail account in question, then exit out, go back in and re-enter the info?

  • I can no longer use my mail account. Won't send or receive.

How do I reset my mail account in order to receive and send messages?

You can also delete the account and start over. Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>Delete Account.

Suddenly I'm unable to Send messages in Mail from any of my email addresses ...they just immediately go to the Outbox & sit there.
Have made no changes in Accounts Prefs settings prior to the issue.
Have double checked all info, passwords, etc.
Have since tried all sorts of changes, including AT&T's automated email setup app, live Chat via AT&T support...things have actually gotten worse, now I also don't Receive messages either.
No issues with Web...can access via Web mail & iPhone, but not home computer.
    Driving me nutz...!
Any & all help is greatly appreciated.

Well, it seems to be working correctly now -- but I'm still a bit nervous.
I have no idea what exactly fixed it.
Thinking it might be a wireless issue I connected the MBP via ethernet and mail sent quickly.  Switched back to wireless and it has continued to work as it should with the wifes account.  At first my user account on the MBP was not sending mail but now it too is working.
    I give up.
    Thanks for the replies
Strange indeed. It will be interesting to see, if it happens again, if connecting ethernet will resolve it again. I wonder if doing that reset a preference or cache.

  • TS3276 unable to send mail via charter.  Have desk and lap top.

    An Update of sorts.
On my E72 I removed all references to Verisign under: Ctrl. panel -> Settings -> General -> Security -> Certificate management -> Authority certificates. (There were about 6 entries)
I tried to connect afresh, but the phone took two attempts to pick up my password for email.
I now have a 'Trusted site certificate' for the email server.
However, I still can't send.  A message pops up 'Unable to send message: <target address>'
