TS3276 mail doesn't recognise password. my bt yahoo is working ok .help?

my mail doesn't recognise my password athough my bt yahoo is accepting it and is working .Help?

I've now managed to log back into my email account but now the server seems to be suffering some sofrt of intermittent memory failure. Now although I have been sending and receiving emails from this account most of the day in the last couple of hours the connection to the email server has become very slow, though a test gives perfectly usual speeds of
Download 12.5Mb
Upload 2.54Mb
yet my last few attempts to send emails have all failed, most simply timed out but a few that did get through have now been bounced as
'334 535 invalid user ID or password'
Obviously both are in fact correct, as neither have changed in the past couple of hours, so it would appear to be a problem at the server end though I can find nothing about a problem anywhere. Any suggestions or should I just hope it will be feeling better after a good night's rest.
Many thanks

  • Mail doesn't save password for iCloud IMAP account (works fine with other email providers)

Mavericks Mail doesn't save the password for my iCloud IMAP account no matter how many times I enter it into Preferences or enter it when prompted.  Doesn't seem to be saving in Keychain or wherever it should be saved.  Passwords for all other email providers that I use are saved.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?  Thanks!!!!!

Oh no! I'm sorry to see there's a lot of confusion here and data shared, x-rayDon. We can definitely work to fix. This happens when two devices share the same Apple ID, so she will need to reset hers. She can do so by assessing this link Apple - My Apple ID. You will need to decide who will keep the account if want separate Apple IDs since purchases cannot be shared unless you do Family Sharing.

  • Since updating my iPad, iTunes no longer recognises my password to purchase music.  I've tried resetting, but the system doesn't recognise any of my details. Can anybody help please.

I did the update the other night on my iPad and since then I haven't been able to purchase music on iTunes.  The system doesn't accept my password, and when I've tried to reset it doesn't recognise any of my details.  I didn't have any  problem before the update, and everything else seems to be working ok.

It may be best to recreate the folder and the smart playlists from scratch.

  • Mail doesn't remember password

Since updating to Maverick I have to enter my password every time I open Mail.  Opening the accounts settings shows that the password is not entered but entering it and saving it doesn't work as it asks again the next time and the accounts settings has again lost it.

The trouble with this is that it has to re-sync all 8,000 read messages that I have never gotten around to deleting.
I did this last year when buying a new computer and migrating everything.  It still took two days to re-sync iCloud and gmail and I ended up with hundreds of "unread" mail.
Deleting and re-adding the account may work, but why can't it remember my password from one execution of Mail to the next?  Is this something to do with the revised Keychain?

  • Upgraded to ML, mail won't recognise passwords and now won't quit.

I just upgraded to ML and mail didn't recognise my passwords for two accounts.
I was able to send email out but cannot receive.  Mail now won't quit.

After mucking around with settings for a while and rebooting twice, I changed the incoming server from pop.xxxx to mail.xxxx and hey presto it worked.
No idea why this change was necessary.  I have some recollection that during the upgrade to Lion I had to change from mail.xxxx to pop.xxxx to make mail work.

  • Snow Leopard: Mail doesn't remember passwords no on login keychain

I keep my mail passwords in a separate keychain.
Prior to 10.6, I would only have to unlock the keychain and grant Mail access to the passwords.
Now, with Snow Leopard, I'm bugged to enter my keychain password every hour or so. It's completely busted.
I've tried deleted the passwords and re-entering them. Also tried moving the passwords onto anothey keychain.
    Can anyone suggest a workaround?

I'm have exactly the same problem. both my accounts are hotmail and even if i fill in passwords both in the pop up box and in pref -accounts it bounces!
I shall await with interest on a reply from apple!

  • Mac Mail doesn't recognize password but iCloud does

Beginning yesterday the Mac Mail stopped recognizing my password.
    iCloud does recognize it.
Checked all the online sources for Preferences and all seems to match the recommendations.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
We're users here, and several of us have apparently encountered the same problem today.
The solution posted by Tareg in this thread worked for me:

  • Mail down - doesn't recognise password ?

Is this what's happening to everyone else ? Fine yesterday; hopeless today !
Migrated to iCloud over two weeks ago now.
Can't access mail via Mac Mail or Thunderbird IMAP as of today.
Are Apple ever going to acknowledge ? All services are NOT fine (as claimed last time I looked at their service update !)
You're starting to feel like Microsoft, guys. Please don't go there...........

    UPDATE
It came back of its own accord.
Can only assume this is all within Apple's control, but no status update and no apology.
Your hardware is still great guys but it won't be long before others catch up.
If you've lost your other USP (well-functioning software and good support for those who do more than just play around on an oversized phone that doesn't make calls), the future looks bleaker.
(On the plus side, easily got a Genius Bar appointment. Now how to cancel it...!)

  • Mail doesn't recognize password after upgrading to Mountain Lion

    After updgrading to Mountain Lion:
The gmail account in Mail began to ask for its password. it is preseent [in dots]; when i click to continue, dialog box indicates it doesn't recognize it.
i had time to to go over details in a gmail help page with details (port numbers and other things).
    I decided to start over.
I deleted the account in Mail, system preferences, Accounts, began anew. Later I deleted inactive Gmail from  menu, Mail. Contacts & Calendars.
Reading some interventions in Communities mentioned the Key Chain. I had changed the Gmail password while using an older Mac Book. In June i purshased a MacBook Air and had Apple migrate my files from the old to the new mac. Mail had not password problems until I updated to Mountain Lion, which I thoroughly enjoy.
    I'm at my wits end.
Throughout all this, Mail on my ipodtouch o.k.
    I appreciate help.

Is it sleeping or shutting down?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there.

  • Mail doesn't save passwords after 10.5.7 update

Did clean install and updated to 10.5.7 but now 2 of my IMAP accounts don't save passwords and keep getting asked for it everytime I launch Mail. Anyone having this issue too?

Launch Keychain Access (in the Utilities folder), go to the First Aid tab in its Prefs, and see whether the choices are set to your liking. Then run First Aid from the main menu. If that doesn't help, try Reset in the Prefs/General tab. While you're at it, you might see whether the choices there look right, too.

  • Mail doesn't remember passwords

Each time I log onto mail and check for emails I get the error that the password was refused by server. I check the preferences and, on one or more of my 4 mail accounts, the password window is empty.
I re-enter the password and save it and everything returns to normal, until I re-open mail and one or more have gone again.......

    HI John,
    Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities).
Under Keychains on the left, click: login
    Select Passwords under Category.
On the right, select your e-mail password name and press Delete on your keyboard. You will have to do this for each e-mail account.
Quit Keychain Access, launch your Mail app and see if it will accept your password.

  • TS3276 mail doesn't send

It has been a long time and many of the computers in our office (all macs) have the same problem.  I'm tired of having to quit the program or restart my computer to get it to send email.
    All the settings are right.
Come on Apple Genius person, fix it and tell me how.
    Thanks,
    David
