TS3276 mail messages often fail to display pictures and graphics?

i have a problem with some mail messages in that they do not display picture and graphics. i have Flip4Mac installed and have a late model Macbook Air 13 inch running Mavericks

Assuming that your operating systems are as steated in your signatures, you both may find it helpful to remove the account from Mail Preferences/Accounts and then set it up again following the instructions here:

I work with students developing HTML/CSS pages. Having trouble displaying pictures and graphics offline in web pages. IE displays student graphics, but Firefox will not. Help?

Students create web pages offline with normal C:/ drive designations. After they have all coding issues worked out, the server address is added prior to uploading code. Graphics are placed in an image folder and code is managed in a pages folder. All located on C:/ drive. However, FireFox will not display pictures. IE will display. Suspect I need to change settings, but don't know what or where.

You not are using the latest Spry files
The latest version of the Adobe Spry Framework is 1.6.1, this is the same version that ships with Dreamweaver CS4. If you use Dreamweaver CS3 (uses Spry 1.4), its wise to upgrade your files to the latest version. This can easily be done using the Spry Updater that can be found here.
If you replace

you will notice that it works as it should.

Cannot get rid of mail message which failed to send

I am "stuck" with a MAIL message which failed to send and has returned: "cannot send message using the server smtp.gmail.com:...... ".
I cannot delete it since the "delete" radio button on the message in inactive, it's not in the outbox or in "drafts".
It's sitting there and even if MAIL is closed and relaunched or if the system is restarted it appears again.

There are five messages in my Outbox.mbox>Messages folder (suffix .emix) all dated today. Only one of them is from my .mac account, the rest from Verizon email accounts. When I sent the .mac email, it seemed to be sent, but a copy did not end up in my sent folder as it usually does, yet the others all did. I’ve closed and reopened Apple Mail as well as restarted my system (iMac) and they are still there. Why are those 5 emails in the Outbox.mbox>Messages folder? Nothing shows up in the “Outbox” in my Mail sidebar. And if they have not been sent, how do I send them?

Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

I seem to have pixulated pictures and graphics on my iphone 3gs after the latest update

I am having an issue with a 3gs 32 gig iphone. I have blurry or pixulated pictures and graphics. Not on everything. The pictures in my photos file are ok. Games are ok. The Map App that comes with it, can barely read the streets. Seemed to have happened after the latest update which is 4.3.3. Any ideas? Thanks

TS3276 Mail Messages Taking Up Too Much Room

I want my MAIL messages in the SENT file to be saved forever on the SERVER, but not on my laptop because they are taking up too much room.
How can I delete the SENT messages from the laptop without deleting them from the SERVER?

If it is a POP account, go to the e-mail provider's web site and check for a settinbg there.
If it is an IMAP account, try Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors - check the box to store on server.

Display picture and video in the same indicator

Unfortunately that's how it works. If you have a 3rd party editor you could add the text to the picture before adding it to the calendar. Put in a feature request at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Banking web site after login fails to display properly and says I need to have CSS enabled. Can't find how to do that.

Running FF 5.0 on Win XP Pro. Several web sites stopped displaying properly overnight without a computer shutdown or FF shutdown. One of the sites is a banking site which displayed normally until after login when it failed to display and there was a message saying best viewed with CSS turned on. I've restarted both FF and then the computer and FF to no avail. Tried both No Style and Basic Style Views with no change. Did not do a power off full computer shutdown and restart yet. Has only happened in FF 5.0. Never happened in previous versions.

My mail messages have not updated since Sunday and Safari is not opening--any suggestions?

On my iPad 2, my mail messages have not updated for 2 days and Safari won't open.

TThanks Meg-when I got through to Apple tech support, that's exactly what they had me do, but It still had to go further. In Settings I hit Delete Account (very unnerving), watched my messages disappear, then hit Add Account, re-entered my account info, and everything came back, including updating my messages. Success! Safari started too.

Pictures and graphics in emails

When I drag a picture or graphic into an email, it is too large. I would like to make the size of either a picture or graphic smaller. How do I do that?

After attaching a picture or graphic to a message, at the bottom right of the message window with Tiger Mail is an Image Size selection. Actual is the default and you can select between Small, Medium or Large.
Smaller PDF file attachments (1-2 pages) also appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default but do not use the Image Size selection with a PDF attachment.
Keep in mind all image/graphic attachments appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message with the Mail.app by default which cannot be turned off.
Depending on the recipient's email client and available preference settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place when the message is opened by the recipient (as with the Mail.app when receiving such attachments) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to view for which we have no control over.
You can also control-click on the viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon which does not affect the size of the attachment or how the attachment appears when the message is opened by the recipient - either inline or viewed in place or as an attached file only which must be opened separately.

Moved mail messages often reappear

This is a problem that has been plaguing me for the last several months: when I move a message from my Inbox or Sent Mail to my Done folder on our work email server, the message reappears in its original location a few minutes later. I can delete it from the Inbox/Sent Mail, and will often return again. Sometimes I can delete the message 3 times before it stays deleted. I cannot tell where the source of the problem is.
I'm using Mail 4.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.4. The account is an IMAP account on a dovecot-1.0.7-7.el5 server, which is redhat's port of dovecot v1.07.
One oddity is that I use MailTags [1] to add info to the header of the email which I can then use for filing the email in the work email system. When I add a tag, MailTags resaves the message to the server. It does not change the identifier of the message.
I also tend to remove attachments after I've filed them, so I don't have extra copies of data files bloating my mailboxes. This also causes a resave of the message to the server.
I ran some experiments with different numbers of attachments, sources etc, and could not find the pattern.
Does anyone know how I can figure out where the problem is? It is completely crippling my email at work, because it is typically tripling the time it takes me to mark a message as done.
I've looked through the discussions, but nothing suggested there has done a lick of good.

Yes, it's always been kept up-to-date.
The behavior you describe would be consistent with errors in the indexing of mailboxes, and it may be possible that MailTags is not keeping track of the messages when moved to the Done folder you describe, via communication with the index.
MailTags shouldn't have any influence when it comes to moving the messages to the Done folder, because they get dragged there by hand. It could have some influence when resaving the messages after adding the tags, but I would then expect to see duplicates when I add or change the tags, also.
I'll run some experiments and report back...

TS3276 mail messages in inbox gone! Could this be virus or malware?

Mail has been acting weird for almost one week. I have Comcast internet and use Apple Mail. Have not been able to receive messages, using Xfiniity Comcast online to check messages - I am able to send from Mail but not receive. Xfinity works fine. Tonight I checked emails on Mail and every message in inbox (message area) are blank. Address, subject etc are there messages are blank. I am freaked out.
ALSO - some weirdness and I am hearing about Malware issues.

Hi - in case there is anyone out there who has the same problem - mine got miraculously cured with the recent update of Mail. I only wish I hadn't spent upwards of 8 hours trying to fix something that was a software fault all along. Had I known this Apple, I wouldn't have wasted lots and lots my time trying to fix it...doh.

How can I see the entire mail message without making it smaller font and not having to scroll to the right?

when i open a message in hotmail i have to scroll to the right to see the entire sentence. I did not have to do this before what has changed? Me or you?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
