TS3276 Mail not receiving new messages
I just purchased my MacBook Air 13 in last week. Love it, but I am having a problem with Mail. I use Google mail for my work, and it sends fine. It also comes through fine some of the time, but after a time, it stops receiving new messages. I notice, as I continue to get them on my phone. Once I 'exit mail' and then reopen, they all suddenly come through.
Any idea what I can do to fix this?
Same issue. Not found a fix other than restarting mail.

Mail not receiving new email messages.
The Mail application on my 2006 MacBook has stopped retrieving new messages. The Mac is running 10.5.8, and the Mail is version 3.6. I have not made any changes to the mail preferences in years. I have two email accounts configured: my Gmail as well as my university email account. Comcast is my internet provider. About a week ago, the incoming email was slow to update. I would click "Get Mail", and it would pull in only 4-5 emails at a time. I would re-click "Get Mail" several times until all the new mail was retrieved. But for the past 4 days, no new mail is coming in. When I click on "Get Mail", the wheel next to both accounts spin like they are working, but nothing happens. There is no error message given (such as "no internet connection"). I have tried the mailbox "rebuild" on both accounts several times, as well as rebooting the computer. (When in doubt, reboot!).
The outgoing emails I send from Mail are being received by the recipients, so I know the connection is working in that direction! The Comcast internet is working, and I can log in to my Gmail account through the web and view my emails there just fine. I'm also receiving the new emails on my iPod Touch. So, I know there are new emails, but they are not coming to my MacBook.
Any ideas?Thanks for the suggestions, BDAqua. Unfortunately, the new mail is still not coming in. I am still able to send mail out through Mail (I did another "test" mail to myself, then checked it on Gmail.com).
A couple of comments & questions (to make sure I was doing things correctly):
The "Connection Doctor" had all green dots. So, that all looks OK.
What do I do with the Mail folder and Envelope Index file that I had moved to my desktop during the Safe Boot? Right now, they are just still sitting on my desktop while in normal start-up mode.
When you said "redo to Rules", I moved the two files you mentioned into the trash. Is this what I was supposed to do? Should I "empty trash" to make sure they are gone?
After I ran through your suggestions once, I did the "safe boot" again and re-ran the Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". Of the things it found, none seem to be Mail related. But, just for kicks, I'll paste the results log below.
Any other ideas? I am able to get my mail through Gmail.com, so it's not the end of the world if I never get this fixed. Just annoying!

As of about 4 days ago my Mail app is not displaying new e-mails. It says '19 incoming messages' but they never appear. I have tried:
- Replacing mail.plist with older version from time machine
- Rebuilding mailboxes
- Asking my web hosts if there is any problem their end - no problems there.
- Checked the 'get account info' box which displays the 19 messages with 'unknown sender' still on the server.

After clicking on the Stop Sign icon beside the stuff in the activity window (which effectively "stops" that task it's beside), I can then right click and "synchronize" my Exchange account and it receives all messages immediately, including the inbox. It's a work around, but I'm not sure that just command+Q and reopen wouldn't be easier.
It appears that a receive action just freezes up, which is why a resync before you kill the first sync doesn't fix it and a quit+restart does. As a side note, I can send messages through Exchange just fine when this receive lockup occurs.
Apple, please look into this...you have a better mail client than M$, but at least theirs stays connected. -
Since installing the latest update my Mail won't receive any new emails from my business account run through gmail.

RegardsI am having the same problems. I am not receiving email to one of the six addresses I have in Mail. Ever since I updated to Mavericks, I've had problems with Apple Mail. I checked the activity and conneciton doctor, everything is green and connection is fine, but no email. I only receive the message if I quit mail and restart.
I've been using apple for 10 years, and in the last year or so noticed they are going the way of windows in that there programs don't "just work" anymore. There are more and more issues creeping up with each new update. -
Problem with Mail not showing new messages
Since 2 weeks, my Mail does not show any of my 'hotmail' messages receive. The connection diagnosis said there are no problem with the account and server. It seems to download incoming mail (which also show in hotmail) but Mail does not show any new messages.
Back up all data.
Select the problem mailbox in the mailbox list, then select

Mac Mail Not Receiving New Mail from Exchange
Hey everyone, in the last few days, I've noticed that my Mac Mail isn't downloading new messages from my company's exchange server.
I can log into the web-based exchange server and see new messages sitting there, unread. If I quit Mail and re-open it, it fixes the problem, but taking all of the accounts offline and bringing them back online does not fix the problem.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? I'm thinking some cache might be full or something.

Apple mail on my iMac/ iPhone is not functioning. I cannot send or receive messages. The New Message Sound on iMac works but messages do not appear.

I'm not receiving new messages
I am unable to get new messages in Thunderbird on my iMac. I can get new messages on my iPhone, PC, and MacBook, but not on my iMac. I tried restarting in safe mode, and I double-checked my account information. I am running Thunderbird 31.3.0, OSX Yosemite 10.10.
Nothing so far, other than to look for answers. I'm a newbie to this. I can successfully send messages, but I can't receive them, other than an initial message from my cell phone carrier confirming my plan with my new iPhone 4S.

Mail wont receive new messages except on startup????
After upgrading to Mavericks, mail will only seem to receive new email on startup of the app itself. Otherwise it RARELY fetches mail automatically. It also wont fetch anything when I hit the get mail button.
This seems to be true for all of the accounts I have on it, but theyre all gmail...

Not receiving new messages in my inbox?
I am no longer receiving messages in my inbox. I have tried taking the accounts offline/online; changing the preference settings and it is still not working.
Any suggestions?
ThxThough I am still unsure as to how it happened to begin with, I was able to resolve this by deleting and creating a new account in mail.

Mac Mail not fetching New messages 10.9.4
This is on a MacBook Air (mid-2011) using OS 10.9.4 and for the past 6 days the Mail program has stopped fetching new mail. The messages come thru on my phone but I have to restart the computer, check the connection doctor, restart a few more times & then finally the mail will start coming through again on the computer. Hi, hoping someone can help. I have my mail set up so that it sends and receives mail from the hotmail server.
For the last few days it isn't receiving any mail, I can however, still send mail from there using hotmail, I just can't receive any.

Can't receive new messages using "Mail"
My MacBook Pro's "Mail" stopped receiving new messages!? It appears to be continuously trying to receive messages but nothing comes through. Messages sent to my ".me" account appears on my ipad and ipod but not in my "Mail" Software on my MacBook! All my settings appear to be correct (although i'm no expert). I've tried using "Connection Doctor" and the "Mobile Me" account has a message in the "Details" that says: "Logging into account..." but it never connects! Conversely, the "smtp.me.com..." accounts has a message saying: "Connection and login to server succeeded".
In addition, I should mention that I can send messages (i.e. they get sent) but the "blue bar" in the "MAIL ACTIVITY" window always stops halfway and never moves again. The message sent also never appears in the "SENT" folder even though i have specified that it should in "Preferences".
Finally... I cannot quit "Mail" without using "Force Quit".
What is wrong? How can I fix it?Thanks Ernie for attempting to help... the port is set on "993"; the "use SSL" is checked. The "Authentication" is set to "Password". However, I did not know I needed a "password"!? I never used one before when i checked mail!? Anyway, if I need a password to check my mail, how come "mail" does not ask me for one?
You may want to know that "IMAP Path Prefix" is empty and "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" is checked. I have no idea what theses things mean but that's the way it is. Should anything be changed?
