TS3276 mail settings issues

Why does Mail persistently ask for or seem to lose my, and my wife's hawaiiantel.net SMTP settings and or passwords?

I've noticed that Apple Mail will sometimes prompt for a mail server password as a result of an intermittent network error; due to WiFi networking problems, cabling problems, flaky router, etc.  Most recently, troubleshooting a similar report for one site reporting this issue found a Time Capsule with a weak WiFi signal.

  • TS3276 mail settings lookup shows imap when i am using pop3

I am having problems with my mail settings, I use macbook pro OS X 10.9, I also have an ipad as does my wife. Recently I have noticed that when my wife or I delete a message it deletes from both ipads. I have checked my settings and made sure we are using pop3 account but when I check my mail settings lookup it shows that i am using imap.
I have deleted the account on my laptop in mail and set up another ensuring the settings for pop a/c are correct but this seems to have no effect.
    How can I change this?
    any help is appreciated
    Thank you
    Keith

You are, in fact, using IMAP. Whether you can use POP instead depends on your mail service provider.

  • TS3276 Mail signature issues / attachments

I can setup Mail to use embedded or "attached" attachments, but when I attach files (my preference for business use) my signature becomes an attachment - is there a fix for this?

  • Contact and Mail settings issue ?

Cannot open Contacts anymore after iOS5 upgrade. When I try to set Mail and Contact it crashes to the main screen.  I did a complete restore but the problem is still there.  icloud is not activated.
Also, when I try to sync the contacts with my computer, I get a message sayng that Contact is being used and cannot be accessed.  Any idea on how to resolve this?

I actually discovered that the fix for the iPhone calendar not syncing correctly was either a recent MS update (We are using Exchange 2003) and or adjustment to Sites and Services in AD. So my fix above was not the fix after all. Some iPhone users during the last two weeks all of a sudden noticed their calendars were syncing and events were filled in.
From our Windows IT Admin when I asked them what they did:
“We ran Microsoft updates weekend before last, and we adjusted the Sites and Services part of AD so that our Domain Controllers are associated with their correct location (this change rendered RPC over HTTPS inoperable (it worked about 50% of the time prior to this change, based on which DC you authenticated against)).”

  • I am unable to access mail folders on my mac from my iPad: is this s settings issue?

I keep a selected number of incoming e-mails in subject specific folders on my Mac for future reference. I am able to access all incoming e-mails on both my Mac and my iPad but these mail folders only on my Mac. If this is a settings issue, can anyone advise me how to correct the issue?

If you are using a POP type email account, no, those folders would not transfer over. They only exist on your Mac.
If you are using an IMAP type account, it is still possible you created the folders locally on the Mac rather than on the server. You may need to recreate them and then move emails over to the new folders.

I was having trouble sending to hotmail accounts from my Earthlink account, they had me go into Mac Mail preferences and make changes (because they claimed it was Mac Mail's fault, even though the hotmail error code said it's because Earthlink is blocked by hotmail), now Mac Mail doesn't work AT ALL - any help changing the settings back to correct Mac Mail settings? • Lost mail settings, address book, ichat settings and other prsnl settings!!

Quick question for you. Have you heard of anything in 10.4+ that causes the machine to revert back to startup condition loosing address book content, mail settings, ichat setttings, along with other personal settings??
All of iphoto still has its content. You have any idea? This happened to my parents machine on the eastcoast and I am trying to figure out what happened. Supposedly my father was "doing something" and then they noticed this happened. Is there something he could have done to reset the settings like that? Thanks for any input.
I have read a lot of posts that people are having the same kind of issue, at least with address book.

Hey Jeremy, my iBook is all messed up, too. Somehow it set back to the default settings. Mail, Address Book, iTunes and iPhoto lost their data. However, all music and photo files are still in folders, only all of my emails are gone, which is more or less a catastrophe! Having read your discussion, I somehow have the impression that it has something to do with the user name, I wanted to change the name and then all of a sudden there was a big mess which resulted in having two users now, but all of the folders are mixed up. Can you be a little more precise about the repairing that worked for you, I would appreciate it very much, since I'm not very familiar with Apple products yet.
    Thanks, Daniel

  • How to recover mail settings in Yosemite

I am running a number of mac computers all having the same IMAP email accounts on them. I had an issue with two of the mail accounts where the emails were getting stuck in the outbox. I read a couple of posts that suggested deleting the mail boxes and starting again. I did this, but low and behold, when i inputted the mail settings again they did not work at all. I messed about with it for a day and even tried apple support (I have an apple care pack) but they couldn´t help me. All i want to do is recover my mail settings from the last time I knew they were working fine, I have a time machine (one apple official one and two other external hard drives that I use as time machines, just in case)
any ideas? i´ve searched the forums but no one has had this issue resolved via TM recovery and Yosemite.
    Many thanks
    Dave

Hi Dave, I have this issue too and wondered if you had to call your Internet Service Provider or how you solved your dilemma.

  • 10.5.1 Mail crashes OS (black screen) then wipes Mail settings + mailboxes

So I dragged a PDF to the mail icon to start a new message, Mail creates new message body with PDF but then crashes the entire OS - press the on/off to reboot your system.
Then when the OS comes up again the entire Mail settings are wiped.
Okay so I do a restore from the archived Mail.
    Spaghetti Mail results.
I've now got two sets of archived Mail (this is a new MacBook so I recently imported old Mails from the iBook) nested inside multiple folders... one set of the original iBook to MacBook import - and now a set of the MacBook mail with a set of the iBook to MacBook import inside it.
Problems I have with this: -
    1. Mail crashed my MacBook in the first place
    2. Mail forgot the mail settings even though the mailboxes are still in ~/me/library/mail
    3. Mail double imported archived mail
    4. Mail has no clear and easy way to merge old mail back into a new mail setup.
Now I'm going to resync from the IMAP mail servers to get my INBOXes back... so multiple multiple nests of spaghetti.
    This is pretty unacceptable behaviour.
    Solution: -
    1. Mail should have a back up set of settings to "Clone" settings and mailboxes from an archive
    2. Mail should be smart enough to know that the mailboxes in the users library/mail folder are not alien entities but the data it needs to work.
    3. Mail should have a way to merge archives into the current set of live mail boxes - SENT especially important.
Now I'll be resyncing then dragging and dropping to try to get it to some normality.
Yes perhaps Time Machine is the answer - but that does not resolve the cloning of settings issue... nor help when moving from 10.4
    Awful

Okay - so I've begun restoring the email accounts - I have 5 of them... and it seems to be recognising them and importing the mail from the existing set of mailboxes I'd imported already.
However there is still the issue of Mail recognising that those Mailboxes exist. It should know that they are there and offer to set up the accounts using these mail boxes as a basis.
Not very smart to do it the way it has been done - now I need to delete the archives I've just imported... but that scares me so perhaps I'll just live with them as they are...
Not very impressed with the recovery process.

  • Poll: Mail settings changes by itself

Now I want to make a poll to know how frequent this bug is:
Mail is unexpectedly changing settings in the "Preferences"-"Accounts"-"Advanced" from "Password" to "APOP"
(When this happens Mail is immediately asking for "Password"and nothing works anymore)
This applys to POP-accounts where the ISP-provider tells you that the setting is supposed to be set to "password".
Please reply to this subject to confirm the frequency of this bug.
    Michael

I got this problem after istalling Leopard ( clean). Mail settings for password can´t be saved and changes itself to apop. And then mail asks for password when I open mail. This is a problem specific to pop accounts. Beccause it affects popusers all over the wolrd this is an apple issue BUG!!!!
I have tried all remedys suggested, changing intervals for mailchecking, new account, keychain, etc etc but nothing works. There are many more having this bud.
There are two other topics about this a.o mail not remembering pazzword.
I.M.H.O it could be worth to tell your ISP provider that you can´t use their APOP because Apple is refusing to react about this bug. So we don´t even know if there is a fix going on.
APPPLE officials! -Good morning! It´s time to get up and go to work!!!-

  • The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.

    Hi,
I have SP 2013, and it was working properly. and workflows send emails perfectly. yesterday, i decided to build a fresh site collection so i deleted the old one and created a new one. now, workflows are unable to send emails. i'm sure it has nothing to do
with my mail server cuz no changes happened to it. i'm sure about the settings for outgoing mail on central admin. all i did, was to enter mail server IP in outgoing mail field and email below it.
in the workflow status the status says "error" followed by this message: "The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly."
    Any help please?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you failed to send email after building a fresh site collection.
I recommend to verify that you have entered your SMTP server name correctly.
You can add it as FQDN e.g. ServerName.DomainName.

  • Send e-mail settings to smartphone via service messages?

    Good Day,
Is it possible to send e-mail settings to a blackberry phone via some form of service message so the phone user does not have to manually set it up?
We recently had to reinstall our Exchange server and are now having to change the e-mail settings on all our staff members phone's, however, some of these staff members are not in the same city as I.T. support and as the staff members are not very computer/smartphone literate, it will be difficult for us to walk them through on how to change the e-mail settings, especially if the autodiscovery does not report the settings correctly to the phone and the domain/server settings has to be entered manually.
One staff member in particular, has a Blackberry curve 9300.
Any suggestion's will be appreciated as we would prefer to, as well as in the future, be able to update the phones with the necissary settings by means of some form of service message rather than error prone manual intervention.
    Regards

OK...then the answer is, well, maybe. It would require compromise of your security ethics.
One way to do what you desire is for you to log into the users BIS account on their carriers BIS website and configure the email account there...doing so would, of course, require you to know the users BIS credentials. Of course, this also would require that the carrier actually have such a website...not all do.
Another way would be to ring up the users carrier and impersonate the user, and have the carrier agent configure the email account.
If the employer provides the devices as well as the service plan to the user, then I suppose the security compromise required is less since, technically, both belong to the company, not the user. But, if these are BYOD devices and/or the carrier account does not belong to the employer, then you would be in essence hacking into the users account to accomplish this.
    Good luck!

  • Erase Mail settings and import mailboxes

I'm having trouble with Apple Mail 3.5 and think that it's isolated to my personal settings within the home dir. Often, when I receive attachments on my IMAP email account, they come through as plain text rather than an attachment. The same message w/ attachment is received properly on my laptop, so I know it's isolated to my desktop computer. Since my home directory is network based, I tried logging into another desktop on the network and experienced the same issue. I'd like to wipe all my mail settings and set-up the accounts fresh. The IMAP messages are not a problem, but I need to know how to properly back-up and import my old messages that are stored on the hard drive?
I don't know what else to do to solve the problem? I've tried deleting all cache and repairing permissions, etc. It must be something with the mail preferences or settings!?!?!?
    Thanks in advance

Close Mail, move the file com.apple.Mail.plist from the folder <home>/Library/Preferences to the Desktop and re-start Mail. It will start up as if it has never been configured before and ask you to create your primary email account. If you have more than one email account you can add them via Mail Preferences after Mail loads.
Your old messages (the ones under "ON MY MAC") are stored in the folder <home>/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and should remain unaffected but if you are a bit nervous about losing any of those messages then drag the folder <home>/Library/Mail to your Desktop so that you can import the messages after you have set up your accounts as per above.

5 crashes after upgrade to ios my address book immediately and I can not access emails, because the password is wrong and when I go to mail settings crashes the application immediately from

Same issue also. Occurring both on my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 after upgrading to ios 5
By the way, Mattban and Sancasslano, are either of you also experiencing any of the following issues:
    * Problems with Contacts either crashing or listing no names
    * Problems with turning iCloud on or off for application under Settings->iCloud... On both mine I just get a pop up saying that iCloud is being turned off but Contacts then just locks up.
    * General problems when trying to synch applications on the iPad or iPhone over iCloud?
I am wondering if all these issues are in someway related to and whether it is worth trying to turn off iCloud somehow, though I cannot work out how this can be done once set up.

  • I can't open mail settings in ios5

When I go to 'mail, calendar, and contacts' in settings, it hangs.  My company has active sync enabled and i had setup my sync with exchange prior to upgrading to IOS 5.  Now it won't load any mail or mail settings.  The calendar for some strange reason seems to work.  Anyone else having this issue?

    Re:: to my previous post....
It turns out, after I have disabled iCloud on my MacMini ( I deslected all options, and signed out from iCloud ) and ater restoring the phone one more time to iOS5.0, now everything is working just fine.
I am pretty sure, I didn't have to restore the phone
(turn off the phone, then enter DFU mode by pressing power+home button for 10seconds untill black  screen, then release power button and keep holding home button for another 10 seconds, doing all this with iTunes started)
and it would have been sufficient to just disable all iCloud settings on my Mac and sign out from iCloud but I can't be now 100% sure which one did it.
During the restore, I chose "Do not use iCloud" when asked.
I have deleted iCloud from phone prior to all these actions, but it did not help. It might be necessary though, to sign out from iCloud from your devices.
Now, Mail settings can be accessed, I have setup my Gmail and Yahoo accounts with no issues. Everything works just fine.
Now, I will have to search for iCloud documentation, because it definately needs better understanding.
iCloud takes presedence over all your settings and it is not clear in what manner it is doing it.
I hope this helps, and good luck..
