TS3276 No matter what I do (Previous Recipients), I cannot delete an old e-mail address

I have one e-mail address, that no matter what I do, I cannot delete it from my list. I have tried previsous recipients, but it won't show up so that I can delete it. But, whenever I send an e-mail to this person, their old address comes up as a choice. I want it to go away.

That was the problem. I thought the only way to get rid of it was in "Previous Recipients". Thanks.

  • HT4623 The update to iOS 7 is frozen at the Terms and Conditions page and will not move no matter what I click on.  I cannot access my iPad as it is frozen on this screen.

The update to iOS 7 is frozen at the Terms and Conditions page and will not move, no matter what I click on.  I cannot access my iPad as it is frozen on this screen.  How do I remedy this nightmare?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Then try updating the software again.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Address Book Contacts and Mail Previous Recipients Missing/Empty/Deleted

At one point yesterday, I was happily catching up on some email using Mail. All was well. I toggled a message as Junk and went to forward it to [email protected], which was, of course, in my Previous Recipients list. Only this time it wasn't. I noticed, too, in iChat, that all of my buddies had reverted to their IM screen names from their normal Address Book-based First Name/Last Name. So I opened Address Book (which had not been running), and it was empty!
To the best of my recollection, though I have a .Mac account, there was no syncing that occurred during any of this. Worse, when I did a manual Sync to see if .Mac would restore my contacts, it didn't. My Address Book remained empty. Fortunately, it didn't propagate its emptiness to .Mac, which I checked via the Web.
When I fired up my spare iBook, everything seemed fine, and a sync there didn't blow away anything.
I found a few posts that recommended replacing my now empty AddressBook.data file with AddressBook.data.beforesave, which was large enough to seem like it might still have a lot of my contacts. I did this, and my Address Book and Previous Recipients were partially restored. The only problem is that the beforesave file was dated June 2004 and is missing all contact information over the past year and a half.
What the heck happened?! Is there any better solution out there? Any thoughts on why .Mac wasn't able to restore the file? Also, what does Previous Recipients have to do with the Address Book data files?

Is your iBook the way you want it? all of your addresses? if so maybe you could back up that database and replace the old one thats fallen to pieces. If you try that though theres no real chance I think of rebuilding that old one as far as I know. My entouage database was an all in one type of deal. when it fell apart, you lost everything. I went to the mac mail and address book after that. everything is in seperate folders with that stuff. usually I've only seen this on older running installs of OS X. Like there is a bunch of directory probs. then things gradually get goofier over time.
Thats strange it doesn't want to import contacts to your computer.
    I'll ask around

  • IPhone Mail  'previous recipients'-can't delete

If one mistakenly tries to send a message to an e-mail address that does NOT exist, that recipient continues to show up as a future possible address when creating new e-mails. In other words, when I later create a new e-mail and start typing the person's name, in the field below where it is searching through my Contacts, it will ALSO show that previous incorrect address. On my computer, one can go into Mail>Window>'Previous Recipients', and I could delete it...however...there is no way to do that on the iPhone. Note that I have already tried to reset my iPhone by deleting the Mail account and then reactivating...and I have also tried to go to a Mac that syncs with the iPhone to go into the Mail program and delete it from 'previous Recipients', but those do not show up. Thanks. Ken

since you have a mac you can do this:
    1. Quit Mail, AddressBook, and probably all other apps would be a good idea.
    1. Delete the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/mailrecents-v4.xxxxxx file
    2. When deleting this file, I had to type my admin password.
    3. Restart Mail
    4. Go to the Previous Recipients window.
    5. Select one previous recipient and delete it, or do the following to empty your list:
    6. Go to Edit>Select All
    7. Delete the entire list
Now when you quit Mail and then restart it, the list should stay empty.
I just searched it for you and this is what others did. I like keeping all other recipients in my phone , if I use them or not.

  • How do I fix my MacBook Pro that continues to abruptly turn off, no matter what I am doing? Even after deleting items/trying resolution methods?

How can I fix my MacBook Pro? I have a relatively recent model of the MacBook Pro. I’ve been running Mavericks.
For the past few days, it has been randomly clicking off by itself, I guess crashing. I would be online or just doings on it, sometimes nothing at all, and the screen would go black, the computer would turn off. Then, I would proceed to try to turn it back on, and it won’t turn on for several minutes, no matter what buttons you push. I tried doing an SMC reset for myself. It did not help much. I deleted all my personal files, including plug-ins, especially flash player. I thought that helped, but the computer proceeded to turn off minutes later. Then, out of frustration, (as I have done twice or so before since having the computer) I did what may be called a factory reset for my computer. I erased the current operating system information/memory in disk utility, and then went on to reinstall OS X. This was working fine, and then, a few minutes into the downloading process, my computer turned off once again.
Now, I have no system to operate on. I keep turning the computer back on to try to do it again. But now, the computer tries to do a remote or internet recovery, and tries to re-download an operating system using my WiFi. I’m sure this would be successful, but the computer can’t function for more than a minute or two without crashing/turning off.
I am fairly certain that my power button is NOT stuck.
I did earlier notice the fan making noise, before doing the SMC reset.
The computer did seem to say there was no batteries available at one point.
(But all of this was okay after some point, and I was just doing the reset to try to correct the turning off the system was still doing)
A week or two ago, I did have a glitch where my desktop picture was flashing and acting weird, and other functions on my computer keyboard not working, like volume, keyboard brightness, etc. But I did fix it.
I have not ever had much on this Macbook pro. I do not download applications. I do not store nearly any files on the computer. I usually only use the flash player plug-in. This computer is only used for doing work/business, and for personal use online.
I can’t see why I would have so many problems.
Is it possible that erasing the memory twice or so before is causing an error or issue in the drive?
What is the root of this problem, and how can I fix it on my own?
I can’t really make any progress on the computer since it turns off after only a minute or two no matter what you are trying to do.
    What do I do now?

    kapots3v4,
if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it.

  • Previous Recipients will not delete - have tried everything

I've removed from Previous Recipients list in the address line, in the drop down menu... I have removed the email addresses from the Address Book and still they keep coming back.  On several occasions I'll delete it repeatedly from all areas and it keeps coming back as if I did nothing... It's like Groundhog Day....

Hi... As mentioned, I have tried everything - probably about 30 times... Have removed from Menu/Window/Previous Recipients, removed from Mail address, removed from contacts...

  • Mail app's Previous Recipients-how to delete the file?

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to Remove From List all the items in Previous Recipients, but they always return after I quit Mail and relaunch. I need to find the file that contains these stragglers and delete them forever. Anyone know where it is to be found?

    Daniel,
The source of the Previous Recipient data is the AddressBook folder within the Application Support folder of your User folder (Home)/Library. It is in a file named MailRecents. In the Finder, you can delete that, but be sure for any backup source you may have in operation.
If only due to some corruption, the date last modified will stale on the MailRecents file.

  • Firefox is now hard to load, and no matter what I click on for a web page, or even my mail I get the connection was reset and I have to hit the try again button 5 - 6 times usually to get the page to load.

I updated internet explorer also changing my server provider so that my web page contact emails would go thru. I have quest broadband and could not use my yahoo accounts as they are not compatible, had me open a q.com email will transfer to outlook for my web pages. That all works, but now firefox is acting up.

Many business users chose to use the downgrade option to XP until Windows 7 had been out awhile longer ,which may be what happened on your machine. Where I work, most all of the machines still run XP.
Recovery Disks contain the OS and all drivers/software for a specific model. A plain Windows disk contains just the OS.Not sure which you have, but a true Recovery Disk set will not work on any machine.
It really sounds like you have a Windows Repair disk which requires a backup image to repair an installation.Could you confirm what exact disk you have?

  • Ok, I have changed the names of my iPads to each be different- but no matter what I do, the Apple ID comes up the old email address on the old iPad and will not let me update Apps, purchase , etc,

I have used your info to give my two iPads different names. My problem is that my old iPad still has the old email in the Apple ID pop up so it will not let me sign in. I checked my info in the manage my account page and there is my email as primary, which allows me to sign in for apps, etc on the newiPad air, but when I try to update or buy an App on the old iPad, the old email is in the pop up and will not let me sign in.
How do I change the email in the old iPad to match the new iPad????
The Old email is on my manage my account page as a verified ALTERNATE email.

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you created a new account or updated your existing account ? All content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so if you have created a new account then all of your existing downloads will remain tied to your old account.
If you've updated your existing account then try tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and log out of it and then log back in with the updated id so as to 'refresh' the account on it.

  • When i check yahoo mail on iPad i have numerous empty messages with a 12/31/69 sent date that contain nothing.  they do not show on my mac though...what is going on?  i cannot delete them either....

When i check yahoo email on my ipad2  there are numerous messages dated incoming on 12/31/69 that are empty.  They do not show up on my mac.  Also, if i try to edit emails on my ipad2  it will not allow me to delete them.  what is going on?

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
