TS3276 safari mail is not responding

cant send or rreceive messages, cant quit mail.Ihave no idea what happened, this is in mountain lion safari mail,I can use Firefox mail with no problem at all.I cant even shot down iMac it says have to quit Mail in Finder but the option is grayed out

Safari doesn't have Mail. It is a Web Browser.
Mail is the email client installed in OS X.
Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do and what happens when you try?
For instance, what web-based email are you using?
If Mail is running but won't quit, try force quitting by holding down the option key and right-click on the Mail Icon in the Dock. Choose Force Quit.

Restart the machine in Safe Mode and attempt to open each app. Also please explain exactly how you are attempting to open the apps. For example, "When I click the Safari icon on the Dock it bounces but does not open." To start in Safe Mode hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone unitl a progress bar appears.

Regarding #1, your post says you have a beta version of Firefox 4. That may well be incorrect, but that is why the site says you do not have the latest version.
Losing graphics on the bookmarks toolbar and not having a working back button are not normal, but I'm not sure whether you want to troubleshoot Firefox 4, roll back to Firefox 3.6, or just move on.

Mail server not responding. Need help how to verify my account

There are instructions on this page for how to create a new account without giving credit card details (the instructions won't work with existing accounts) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Unless an account is created via those instructions then credit card details will need to be entered on it before the account can be used.

  • Safari is constantly not responding

Safari is constantly not responding, especially when loading java, uploading videos etc. Can I do anything about it? Can I somehow restore the safari (I have tried to rest it, but nothing was improved). thanks

You need to update to 10.5.8 to allow Safari to work at its best.
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Open DNS also provides an anti-phishing feature: http://www.opendns.com/solutions/homenetwork/anti-phishing/ )
Wikipedia also has an interesting article about Open DNS:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • Incoming Mail Server Not Responding

    Hi from a Mac Newbie...
I am trying to set up multiple email acounts to be accessed by Mail, and keep getting the "The POP server “mail.hotmail.com” is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Incoming Mail Server” field. If it still doesn’t respond, the server might be temporarily unavailable". The same for just hotmail.com. Once I get this to work I need to set up gmail, too.
Am I typing something in wrong?
    Thanks

Has it worked before on the pad.  If it has in the past, and does not now that means either the server is down or busy,  just wait a while.    or some how you have altered you name or password or some other server parameter inadvertently.
Third choice is you have dropped your Internet connection.  Is anything else on the Internet working?
Try the same account from safari using web, ail, or from another computer.  If it is down, it will be down there as well.  If it works there, but not from the pad, recheck the parameters and your connection again.

  • Mail Server Not Responding

I have my own mail server.  When my iPhone is on the local WiFi, it can log in and read mail.  When it is on the 3G connection, it gets the message 'The mail server "intellexcorp.com" is not responding.  Verify that you have entered the correct account info in the Mail settings.'  The setttings are unchanged.  There is no firewall on the server computer.  I can't see why the same settings would have a problem connecting.  No other services, including mail and remote access have a problem accessing this computer by name or by IP.
Please, do _NOT_ suggest that I check my settings.  As I have said the same settings work fine on Wifi.
    Randy Kaempen

Reception is fine.  Already tried a reboot.  This is an ongoing problem over a period of months.  I can't undestand why the 'outside of network' connection can't get to the server while the 'inside the network' can, since there is no firewall and the exact same settings.  The mail server is not showing that it is blocking anything.  Puzzling.

  • Safari freezes and not respond, Chrome works great why?

I just upgraded to Yosemite, and Safari keeps freezing and not responding I have tried everything from removing aches, remove web history but keep freezing. On the other hand, Chrome works fantastic so needs to be something only related with Safari. Apple says Safari goes 6x faster than other web browser, well in my hands in can prepare my lunch and finish it before it opens one page, so 6x faster maybe in Cupertino because not in my laptop. Any suggestions of how to fix the Safari????

    Hi ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
No open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Mail does not respond when trying to set up new account

I'm trying to set up my brand new @me.com email account on my brand new Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.1. I open Mail and it prompts me to write my name, email adress and password, which I do. Then, without fail, it says 'Searching for mail servers from the specified email address...' for a few seconds before freezing, with that message still displayed. I have to force quit Mail, which is said to be 'not responding'. Anyone know how to fix this?
