TS3297 Error message: 'Cant connect to the itunes store. An unknown error occured (-3212) please check you have an active internet connection and try again'. Help !

Can someone help me please ? I was using itunes (downloading albums etc) just half an hour ago. I had a pop up asking me if i'd like to download the latest version of itunes, which i accepted. When the update had finshed downloading, i then restarted my computer, as i usually would. Tried to re access the itunes store, and received the following error message: 'Cant connect to the itunes store. An unknown error occurred (-3212) please check you have an active internet connection and try again.
Needless to say, i have an active internet connection and cant see any reason why this would be happening, it has never happened before ?
Any help would be appreciated.

    Excellent it worked for me.
    First I tunes was unable to update software so I removed then deleted installed program folder location after that properly performed clean installation for itunes64.
    When tried to sign in received this message. Even restart the pc did not help.

    I've tried the Advanced troubleshooting and eliminated the following "probable causes":  Internet connection and Firewall.  Any ideas?

    Error 11556:
    This alert occurs when iTunes is trying to do something not allowed by the iTunes Store in that country.
    The most common example of this is iPhone ringtone creation in a country other than the U.S. or trying to sign in while limited to iTunes U by Parental Controls.
    If trying to create ringtones outside iTunes Store (U.S.), either switch to the iTunes Store (U.S.) and use an iTunes Store account for the U.S. or access the iTunes Store on an iPhone using iOS 3.1 or later to buy ringtones.

    While syncing my phone, it get stuck at step 3 while connecting to the iTunes store.  Trouble-shooting states that I do have an internet connection but not a secure connection to the iTunes store.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
    If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Cannot connect to the iTunes store. Get 'Error 11222'. Claims it is being blocked by Windows Firewall when it is allowed through.

    When an external application tries to connect to it through iTunes I get 'Error: 11222'. When I try to connect through the iTunes app it just continuously loads but nothing appears. Diagnostics says that Windows Firewall (Which is being managed by McAfee) is blocking it, even though it is allowed through both firewalls I have. Even when I turn WF off iTunes claims it is being blocked by it. I have done almost everything Apple's support pages have suggested but nothing has worked. I'm using it on an Acer Aspire laptop, and the main PC can use iTunes without trouble so it isn't the ISP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice. Here is a full diagnostics:

    The 11222 errors can sometimes be produced by LSP trouble. One of the suspects with that is some versions of McAfee Family Protection. For troubleshooting advice, see the following document:
