I downloaded songs that now will not play completely on my touch. There were no error messages, and I see them fine on my touch. They get to a certain point in the song and jump to the next song.

Do they play ok on your computer's iTunes ? If they do then try deleting them from your iPod and then re-sync them back to it.
If they also don't play on your computer's iTunes, then depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Ios 4 3gs Now will not play through my usb/ipod connection on car stereo

With new ios4 I cannot get my 3gs to play through my car stereo's ipod connection (usb)anymore. os3.1 or whatever the old os was worked fine. The car stereo controlled the tracks, artists, etc.. Now I plug the phone in and get a message saying it is not optimized to work with the stereo and may be subject to noise and interference, then the only option to click is "dismiss" and will not work. The method used to recognize the USB device has a clever bit of code in the firmware to improve the connect time once the initial handshake with the device has been established. So after the update to iOS4, the host device (Car Stereo) still thinks that it is connecting to the un-updated client device (iPhone prior to updating to iOS4) The updated client device (Your iPhone with iOS4), must fool the host device (Your car stereo), into believing that it is an entirely new device. This is done by connecting your iPhone to the stereo head USB port with the iPhone switched off completely. This is achieved by holding down the top power button on the iPhone until the red slide bar comes up and prompts you to shut the iPhone down. Do this and then with the car stereo switched on, plug the iPhone into the USB socket and wait till the iPhone starts of it's own accord. If it does not start, press the top power button on the phone until it starts. This will force the host device (Your car stereo) and the client device (Your iPhone) to re-negotiate the handshake between the devices and get you back to where you will once again be happy.
Now we can all stop beating up both the Car Stereo manufacturers and Apple and focus on being civil gentle folk that enjoy discussions about how clever we all are to be able to use amazing technology to get ourselves over-stressed and irritable.

Sounds like a good plan, you can never be to safe and having a second External HD is safer than one.
The only thing that I would do different, is setup the 3T as my TimeMachine Backup and then erase and move my Photos, Videos and perhaps even iTunes Media to the 1T. That way you will have room to backup both the Internal Hard Drive and the 1T External Hard Drive to the 3T using TimeMachine.
Take your time, study and use the > Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions if you get stuck or aren't sure how to make the move.

One song will not play completly

I have one tune in my itunes that will not play completly when put into my i pod.
It plays for 40 seconds and quits but will play fine from i tunes.

Is this song from the iTunes Store?
If so, see this:
iPod does not play purchased content from the iTunes Store
Or, if this is a song that you've imported from a CD, you might want to just re-import the song, then re-load that copy of the song file onto your iPod.

iTunes has recently began corrupting my Music and some of the Podcasts. An exclamation mark appears at a random selection of songs - about a thoussanad of them - and they will not play as iTunes says that it cannot locate the file. This also has happened on a number of Podcasts. Any one else encountered this?

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, if you are running Windows (you've posted in iTunes for Windows, but your sig mentions Mac OS X...), and as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

It will play when connected to the computer...but that makes it hard to take it on a walk with me I thought it might be a synching problem so tried that--still doesn't work. How do I fix this problem with out restoring it to the factory setting? I do not want to lose all my music content as some of it I cannot replace easily. Please help with suggestions and advice. New MacBook Air, iTunes was working at first, now will not play anything

Brand new Macbook Air and after an unnecessarily complicated setup I finally had music playing the first day. Now it will not play music or podcasts. Cleared cache, restarted, up to date. I press play it changes to the pause icon but no time movement, no sound. I went through all the steps to fix the problem of not downloading any of my purchased music, but now that I have it downloaded it won't play, when it had originally.
Downloaded a podcast, won't play. Yay, back on the Apple forum once again.
The original selling point of Apple was simplicity and reliability, now it is more convoluted, un-intuitive and unreliable than any windows product out there and I never thought I'd say that.

if so, next let's explicitly doublecheck your precise
itunes version number. in itunes, go "help > about
itunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up
from the bottom of the screen. (for example, mine
says "itunes 6.0.5.20") 6.0.5.2
if you've got an itunes version 5.0.0.35, 5.0.1.4,
6.0.0.18 or 6.0.1.3
... first let's check on this possibility:
iTunes for Windows: Audio files do not play in
iTunes 5 or 6
if you've got an itunes version 6.0.2.23 or
higher, or the compatibility settings thing wasn't a
factor for you
... then first we'll try a careful standalone QT 7.1
reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone
installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install
from there rather than online.) switch off
antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the
install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes
play audio properly again? Yes, this did the trick!

Purchased 14 Jimmy Buffett songs from "Fin City" and four will not play. All remedies suggested on Apple Support have failed.

If only some of the tracks from the album are throwing authorisation errors at you, that suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

This has been an ongoing problem for me too. With my iPad 2 I buy a tv show or rent a movie and it does not show up in the Video App. This is very frustrating (= very upset Apple customer) You spend money to see something remotely, wait along time to download it, potentially incur or use precious minutes with your limited data plan and in the end can not view it. Additionally, the entire process has some severe usability issues. Why do you have to go to another App to see your movies. When you click purchase you should be first presented a download time bar and then either as it is in the midst of being downloaded be able to start watching it and/or after it has been downloaded you should be provided the movie to view it. Not bumped to the landing page of the iTunes App. how stupid is that. So you are there at the landing page for iTunes. Your first inclination is to try to navigate within iTunes to see it. If it is a,TV show that you rented your first inclination is to go to the TV show section. Then form there you will like deduce that you need to go to Purchases. but when you click Purchases it instead takes you first to Music purchases. Then you might see or realize that there is a,TV show tab in the Purchases section, so you go there and and as opposed to showing you a chronological list of most recent individual purchases is defaults to a list of full seasonal TV show purchases, so then you see the seasonal show and it show an iCloud butont to download then entire season, hmm that would suck to then download the entire season, use all your minutes and then not be able to view any show cause even thoses don't show up in the Apple video App. I mean come on this really terrible, TERRIBLE useability.
So I have gone to the Apple Video App and nothing shows. I have done a search from the Apple search you can access when swiping right from the initial page of App icons. I actually see the TV show name listed from the title name search I do. And indeed it shows an associated Video App icon but when I click it momentarily (split second looks to be loading the video App and then crashes? And takes me back to the first screen of App icons.
So I simply can not watch any show with ITunes.
Netflix on the hand make the entire process a one click experience.
