Ok, so I just worked out that itunes communicates through your browser so it's a cookie in the browser not PC direct that fixes this.  Bit of a convoluted route but for me it was IE>Internet setting>privacy>sites, then allow all activity from apple.com/itunes.

  • TS1424 Message "your request could not be completed...make sure computer date is correct and will accept cookies from ITunes Store"

Attempting to purchase music on ITunes Store which I have done for years, now get message "your request could not be completed, make sure your computer date is correct and computer accepts cookies from ITunes Store." I have changed nothing. Of course the date and time are correct and my browser accepts cookies.

Now the apple support team won't even e-mail me back. Not even saying no. This is rediculus.

  • I loaded in Lion - but my time capsule will not back up. I get an message: couldn't complete backup due to a network prolem. Also it says "make sure your computer and back up disk are on the same network, and that the backup disk is turned on.

I installed Lion on my Mac Pro laptop. Regarding Time Capsul - I get a messaage as follows: couldn't complete backup due to a network problem. Make sure your computer and back up disk are on the same network and that the  backup disk is turned on. Then try again to back up. I have time capsul turned on. bill

I have exactly same problem with my MBP and MBA, after upgrading to Lion. I've tried to fix this issue while cheking key chain issues and network setup, even formating hdd and time capsule firmware upgrade (ver. 7.6.1.). Nothing can help. It is very annoying.

  • Backup failed . Make sure your computer and backup drive are on the same network. What does this mean?

Backup Failed.  Comment is "Make sure your computer and backup disc are on the sme network and the backup disc is turned on".  What does this mean?

    Just back from the dentist.
Did a hard reset and when i asked time capsule to do a backup it tells
    me
"Time Machine could not complete the backup. The backup disk image is already in use"
I think I misunderstand how this back up device works.
Is it to be plugged into the back of the router with an ethernet cable?
I have the Time capsule sitting beside my Imac.
The cable modem and router are in another room
I am new at this stuff.  Thank you for patience and help

I have inadvertently changed a file permission setting. When opening Aperture I get the following; "Aperture cannot access this library. To use this library make sure it's file permissions are set correctly". I am an old dude new to Mac OS. Looked in settings but have no idea how to allow file sharing to myself. I have been using Aperture actively for 6 weeks. I'm the only one using this Mac. What up?

    Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. You can demote it back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ 2> /dev/null
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

how can my computer accept cookies from itunes music store

Well on a Mac, you enable cooks in your Safari browser....
    But you're on Windows?

  • Make sure your computer hard drive has enough space before attempting to update your iPhone!

I made the mistake of updating my iPhone 4 last night to 4.3.3, after almost 40 mins of download, updates and veryfying a warning popped up that there was a problem with my phone and that I had to restore it to the factory settings. I did this, then synced my phone again to get all my data back on it. After almost an hour of faffing, it then tells me that my computer didn't have enough space to peform the back up and I ended up losing all my contacts, apps and worse of all, my photos!!!
Why on earth did a warning not come up in the first place that there was not enough room to backup my iPhone onto my hard drive (which is a Power Mac G5 I might add) before it started to update or back it up!
Contacts are easy to get back, music can be uploaded again, apps I can get back from the app store but my photos are gone and they are the things that are irreplacable. I find the whole process of using iTunes and pain in the a*%e and I'm sure I'm not the only person who has had their iPhone wiped and I won't be the last.
So, a warning to all, you have to manually check you have enough space on your hard drive before you plug your iPhone into your computer or you'll lose everything.

Another warning to all is to maintain backups of any data you care about.

  • TS3474 My computer states "make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active" when I try to download the latest updated of Itunes.

I am trying to sync my Ipod Nano (6th Generation).  I am trying to sync my Nike+ workouts, when I click "automatically send workouts" and "apply".  It freezes.  I have to restart my computer.  When I also try to make sure I have the latest Itues updates, I get a message "make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active".  My main question is, I want to upload my Nike+ workouts.  I have an account with Nike+, and have 3 workouts waiting to be uploaded it indicates.

The following document might be worth a try with that one:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

  • My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.

My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later; Have been trying to fix for ages.

Hi Everyone, been struggling all day to restore my settings on my ipod, as my little brother has put a restriction password in place and made me not able to get into Safari, iTunes, Camera which I really need. I have tried everything, resetting my proxy settings, turning off the firewall, changing my network location, ran diagnostics. Everything seems fine on that, I post below my results. I also tried restoring from the device, but with the restrictions code in place I can not do so. And everytime I am dowloading the software update before the restore it comes up with 'Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later'. I have been using google for ages and am not sure what I have missed.
I am using Windows 7 with an Acer Notebook.
