TS3367 I try to facetime someone, and it keeps saying "connecting" then it says "facetime failed". Anyone know why?
My facetime won't connect and it keeps saying "facetime failed". Any word on why and if it will be fixed?
Same here.
Since wednesday night, FaceTime stopped working on all of my devices, MacBook Pro 2011 OSX 10.8.5, iPhone 4 iOS 6.1.3 and iPad 4 with the latest iOS 7.1. I don't want to update my iPhone 4 to iOS7 because the speed issue and the new look. My son is 2 and everyday he would talk and play with my mom through iPad. He has been very upset since wednesday night because he cannot call grandma on iPad!! So today after I tried everything, I thought backed up my iPad 4 and get the factory reset to get the clean start might help, but still, FaceTime just won't connect at all. At the end of day, I completely gave up and turned on Skype instead. It works equally well, even my mom liked the Skype better, she like the Skype's brighter render, the gamma ray is more stable and plesant to use, compare to FaceTime's overly-sensitive gamma control, usually render the screen darker than the real setting.
Everyone take a look here. Apprently this issue is not your ISP's problem, nor it was iOS related. I believe it has something to do with Apple.

I have been trying to update my software in my macbook pro, but every time I go through the motions of updating/restarting my computer nothing happens and it still shows I need a software update. Anyone know why this is happening?
How large is your HD and how much space do you have left?
Check out the following & do the necessary:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
Try SU again.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius. -
i'm trying to redeem my itunes gift card and i get the message "session timed out." does anyone know why i'm not able to redeem my card and why i get this message in stead?
I've been having the same issues too, and thought it was just my outdated computer or account?!
Every time I try to purchase a song, "session has timed out" shows up after I click "agree" to the terms!? I seem to be in the exact same scenario as 'SportsBarn' above: Itunes support have replied repeatedly with the same "solutions" but nothing has helped or even been applicable. I have an older laptop, 2005 Powerbook running OS X 10.4 Tiger so it's not compatible with the latest iTunes 10.5.2 which requires minimum OS X 10.5. I've been using the balance already in my iTunes account (from redeemed giftcards over the past few years) with no problem, until recently (my last successful purchase was October 2011). I wonder if it's the older OS or just a redemption glitch even with newer computers? -
I get the message "unable to sync ipod. Required folder is missing". Never saw this before, and I have synced hundreds of times before. Does anyone know why?
Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder. There may be more than one such folder. For its location see:

When i am using the eraser tool and i take my hand off the mouse all the work i erased instantly reappears, does anyone know why? (i'm very new to illustrator). Thanks in advance for any help.
What Mike says but remember that the eraser is a very crude tool.
As a beginner you should begin by learning how the vector paths behave. Learn how to add and subtract anchor points and work with the bézier handles. -
I'm trying to burn a playlist to a blank CD-R disc at a low speed (12x) and I keep getting the error message "2131." Any idea what this means?
It's usually related to old firmware on your CD/DVD drive, but we'd better have a look at your DVD/CD tests first, just to be sure.
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. -
I'm not receiving emails from 2 places. I don't have rules set up and both senders have the correct address. The messages aren't in my junk folder either. This is for my.mac account. Anyone know how to fix?
That just sounds like the mail headers. Most people don't know (or care) about them so they're usually hidden.
Check Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing -> Show header detail
I'm guessing it's set to 'All'. Switch it to 'Default' or None as you prefer. -

I've used my macbook pro and thunderbold monitor together since purchasing them almost 2 years ago. Today, my laptop will not start up when connected to teh display. It will start up if I disconnect, but will then freeze if I plug the display in. Any ideas why? I'm running OSX 10.7.5
The support article linked below is somewhat outdated. Where it refers to starting up from an installation disc, you should instead start up in Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
If you don't have a current backup of all the data on the startup volume, and you want to preserve that data, then you must try to back up before you do anything else. Ask for instructions if you need them.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to reinstall OS X from Recovery, if necessary. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

I cant get my ipod touch to play through a docking station I have recently purchased. A second ipod touch works fine. Can anyone tell me why it wont play through speakers?
thanksWhat model iPod and iOS works and which does not?
Sometimes a 4G iPod will not fully sead in the dock because its case configuration is different that previous models.
Also, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility.
Have you checked the dock manufactuer's support stie for compatibility?
Sometimes this works:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -

I am trying to FaceTime from my iPhone5 as well as my iPad 2 and it keeps saying that it's connect but then a message saying FaceTime unavailable pops up. How do I fix this?
I am having the same issue... Please advise...
I avidly use facetime DAILY and for about 3-4 days now, whenever I try and send or receive facetime request it hangs up immediately without ever picking up. This is happening on all my devices and with everyone and doesn't matter what network/ wifi I'm connected to. This is definitely a network issue with individual profiles... -
My FaceTime will make the call but will not connect and will sometimes say call failed. What do i do?
don't update to iOS7 just yet if you prefer 6. Many are saying that's the cure, but there are lots of iOS7 users here who can't make Facetime work either.
It would seem Apple has either a big problem on their hands, as this is now a week old, or they don't know how to fix it. Either way, email Apple tech support your concerns

I have just bought a ATI Radeon 9700 pro for my MSI KT4V motherboard. It has not been a happy purchase. It seems that every time I play a Direct 3D game which taxes the video card, my machine will reboot itself as if I just pushed the reset button.

Keep getting "You are not connected to the Internet"
Hi, been scouring the discussion pages for an answer & so far nothing suggested has worked for me... I have a MacBook running OS X 10.6.8 and all of a sudden I can't get Internet from my BT HomeHub2. It's worked fine for the best part of 2 years, wok
