TS3367 Problem: Cannot hear the other caller on facetime?

I have an IPod Touch 4th Generation, She has a New IPad. We facetime. Here's the problem: I cannot hear her at all.
Further, she has successfully facetimed her friends (who have IPhones) without any issues.

hello all.
i had recently upgraded to w7.8 for my phone, and problem started coming.
i cant seems to hear the other person when i get or make calls, and they cant hear me too.
i get this problem quite often, and i tried factory reset, and no data is loss( i wonder do i perform the resetting correectly)
i tried off and on my phone again. same thing still happen occasionally.
what is going on? PLeAse help!!!
the phone is only 2 months old and never drop/bump anything.

If you can't hear the caller THIS may be helpful ..but if the other end can't hear you then may be you need to visit Nokia Care

FaceTime - I cannot hear the other end at times and the mic now has a forward slash in front of it and I can't get it to go away

FaceTime-at times I cannot hear - no audio - the person on the other end. The mic now has a forward slash over it and I cannot get the slash to disappear. At times I hear the other end even though the forward slash is still there. I believe I have checked all of the settings.

If they don't show up on screen captures, it's most likely a hardware failure. Make an appointment at the genius bar.

There have been similar issues with iChat and I will use that as an example first.
In iChat the Mic needs to be On (in the Video menu).
It also needs to be listed in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video section > Microphone Drop down and this needs to match ther Mic set up in System Preferences > Sound > Input.
In addition to this the Mic needs to be "turned up" high enough in the System Preferences to work with the app.
So If you Buddy cannot hear you it is your Problem when it comes to iChat.
If you cannot hear the Buddy it is much more likely that they have not set up the Mic in System Preferences or have the Mic Off in iChat.
Moving to FaceTime you will find a Mic Setting in the Video menu (if you have two or more Mics).
If you do then the System Preferences > Sound > Input and the volume setting there needs to match the choice in the App.
As it is your contact that you cannot hear you need to get them to check their settings first.
As for your end, it will be worthwhile doing a PRAM reset.
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

Hi,
I am using a Skype GE phone 31591GE.
Since couple of weeks, only with the contacts that updated their skype version, the sound stops after couple of seconds of conversation. The other person is still able to hear me when the event happens.
With other skype users, with older SW version, it keeps working well.
On the GE phone, it is shown that it has the last updated version.
Could you please advise a solution?

Thanks for dealing with this issue.
Basicaly, the problem started with the Skype updates from Mid-July. Any Skype version released from Mid-July on, has this issue.
If my understanding is correct, it is the same issue with:

Can't hear the other person on Facetime

Hi guys
So i've been trying to use Facetime but everytime i start up the app, the sound completely cuts and is not recognised. The Sound icon in the top bar turns grey and whenever i try turning up the volume using the keyboard, the Speaker icon comes up with a line through it.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I can see the other party, and they can see and hear me, but i cannot hear them.

just spoke to a tech...if you are using an Ipad...go to settings - general - reset - reset network settings (you will have to re-enter your wifi password). According to tech, this should resolve the problem...if it doesn't, then you will have to reset device to default and reload your backed-up info back onto your device.....I haven't tested it yet because the only person I facetime with is not home yet.

you need to isolate wetyher or not its a hardware issue.
make a voice memo. (if there is sound then, your bottom mic is fine.)
Make a video (if there is sound then your speaker mic is fine.)
if those dont work restore to factory settings and setu p as new, if the issue persists, setup replacement
if you have sound, try resetting your network settings. (settings general>reset>reset network setting THIS WILL DELETE ANY SAVED WIFI PASSWORDS.)

Hi, I have been having similar issue, while calling my family in Uzbekistan. I can send texts only. Audio and video are not going through. So, the Uzbek authorities say it has to do with maintanence work currenly under way and this will continue unitl August 31.

When i make a call i cant hear the other person or its super quiet

If there's no obstruction in front of the headphone speaker and the volume is pumped up to max, the component may be kaput. So yeah, a trip to the Store will be inevitable.
