I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

    Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
    If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation.

    hey i had the same problem, look and i fixed it just slightly tighten the 2 screws on the bottom of the phone with the tip of the knife or a small screw driver!! and now my phone works perfectly

    Software Version:Release 7.5 - 29 Sep 2003
    I know it is pretty old but that is what all our sites are using.
    We have connected up this unit to use IP and are connecting to other sites.
    We can always see and hear them but all they see is a blue screen with name of the unit on it and they also cannot hear us. We have done a series of test,
    dial tone
    loop back test which has come back ok.
    The strange thing is that another newer Polycom using is able to connect to these same sites and both was see/hear are ok. We are using the same WAN pipe.
    No gateway, This is a point to point test just using the WAN Link.
    Please help? What else can I do to troubleshot this and get it working?

    I'm sorry to hear you are having problems - and I haven't come across this issue before.
    If you are seeing a preview of your own camera when you try to make a call, this suggests that your camera is being recognised by the TV. However, it's worth trying this too:
    In Skype, go to SETTINGS and select CHANGE PICTURE, and then VIDEO SNAPSHOT. You should see a preview of your camera. If you can, then your camera is working - and you can exit back to the menu by pressing the RETURN key on the remote.
    Next, on your CONTACTS screen, you should see a contact called ECHO / SOUND TEST SERVICE. Can you try calling this. You will hear a message, then after a few moment you will be asked to speak (just say a few words). Don't press any buttons - after a few seconds, you should hear your own message played back to you before the call ends.
    If you hear your own message back, that shows that your camera is working - at least for audio.
    If both of these work, then it doesn't look like it's a problem with the camera.
    Try an audio call (voice call) with one of your Skype contacts, to see if you can hear them and they can hear you.
    Again, if that works, then it points to a problem other than the camera.
    Let me know how things go with these tests, and I'll try to help further.

    I just got my iPhone 3G yesterday and when I make calls, that person can talk to me and I can hear them, but when I talk they cant hear me. It has nothing to do with the mute button though.     I dread going to the AT&T store like no other, but all of the LA and OC area Apple stores had been out of the 8g iPhone for days and I couldn't wait any longer to get one. I'm hoping this doesn't mean I have to take it there...

    Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
    Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
    BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails and your model has a removable battery, then you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works. If your model does not have a removable battery, substitute holding the up/down arrow keys until the device fully shuts down.
    See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

    I am using a Galaxy 5 and talking to my wife in her ipad 2. I can hear her just fine but she can't hear me at all. There are no setting to adjust any of this . She complained that she could not hear me very well a couple days ago and now 11-19-14 she cannot hear me at all. Mic works just fine in other applications.     I'm not sure exactly what you want me to do with IPNetMonitorX. I see that it offers UDP scanning; which host would I point it at? (and then presumably I would tell it to scan the UDP ports that iChat AV is known to use)
    My port configuration:
    * Time Warner Cable RCA cable modem, they intentionally do not provide configuration access of any kind.
    * Airport Extreme (Apple Base Station V5.6). I had no Port Mapping when I first started having trouble. Then, in an attempt to fix the problem, I've configured the "Port Mapping" section, explicitly listing 5060, 10.0.1.5, 5060, etc where 10.0.1.5 is my Mac's IP address and 5060 is the first of the about 20 iChat AV ports.
    * Firewall was off when I first started having trouble. In an attempt to fix, I turned it on. iChat Rendezvous (5297, 5298) is allowed through.

    Hello, I got a new computer at christmas 2014 and before i got it skype worked perfectly with my other pc, Now whenever i call someone or they call me, I can hear them but they CANNOT hear me. I have tried basically everything i can like checking audio settings,etc. I have razer krakens and my New computer (it's an Asus) only has 1 plug on the back for it. My tower has a green and red plug but whenever i put the plugs in it doesnt work either. there is no speakers on my Tower and i can't hear my friends regardless. I went to skype audio one more time and My Razer kraken microphone is Not there It only comes up with this Microphone here: Stereo mix (realtek high definition audio)   I'm thinking maybe that's the problem Idk But can you guys help me it's really frusterating. I havn't called with my friends for a while now. Thanks! I also went through my pc and it said i don't have a sound card. IDK my specs or anything as i got it for Xmas Is that the problem? (not having a sound card)  

    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.
