can i use the find my iphone app on my laptop ? for instance if i lose my phone i can go on to my laptop and find it ?

The "Find my iPhone" app isn't available for Macs and PCs. However, there's another method to use Find my iPhone to track your devices. Open http://www.icloud.com, log in with your Apple ID, and choose "Find my iPhone"

You can create and use different iCloud accounts on the same computer, whether they are single or multiple user.
There is a limit of 3 accounts you can create from a device but I thought this was only iOS devices - maybe not.
iCloud accounts can only be created using a valid email address, so I guess I'd start there to retrace what accounts you have.

You can't. It has to be on and able to connect to a network or it can't transmit its location.

You can 'ping' your phone and have it play a sound (even if it's muted) from the watch, but it must be in range... That's intended to help you locate it if it's nearby but you forgot where you put it, or it slipped behind a couch cushion or something. -
I lost my iPod today. If I use find my iPhone on my laptop, will it show me where my iPod is even if I haven't used the wifi there before? And will it play the sound if I hit "play sound"? Can they turn the iPod off if it's in lost mode?
No, since it will not automatically connect to an unknown network
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

You can only unlock the device from the device itself. Locking the device does not stop it being tracked. -

You don't need the Find My iPhone app. You need to turn on Find my iPod in Settings > iCloud on your iPod. Then to locate your iPod from your PC, go to https://icloud.com and follow instructions.

Only if the device is connected to the Internet via wi-fi. You can only track the phone if it is powered on and connected to the Internet.

Some one told me today they signed on and they were able to find their iPhoneIf the "Find My iPhone" was enabled in your iCloud Settings on your phone - it does not matter if you had the "App" on there or not. It will report, if it has not been deleted / restored / etc.
Have you tried logging into http://www.icloud.com and see if your device is listed? If it is, then place your phone into "Lost Mode" and put a phone number where you can be reached. -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)
