TS3376 itunes device name is different to same device name on find my iphone

I have a device on itunes which is named correctly. But when I look it up on "Find My Iphone" the device has a different name.To make matters more confusing it has the same name as another device owned by my daughter. How do I get the device name on "Find My Iphone" to match the device name on itunes?
Many thanks.

Check Settings>General>About>Name on your phone.  That is the name that should be identified in Find My iPhone when you sign into your account on icloud.com.  If it's wrong, try turn off Find My iPhone on your device, then turn it back on after a few seconds.

If you had not registered your device on the find my IPhone app, but you know the serial number of that device, could you still be able to track your device

No, you can only potentially track it if you have Find My iPhone enabled on it, you can't do it via the serial number.
If this isn't hypothetical, then if your iPad has been stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc. and contact your carrier.

  • My girlfriends iPad has been stolen and wiped as it no longer shows on her devices list in find my iPhone. Is there anyway it can be traced by the serial number?

Can anyone help me, is there a way to trace a stolen ipad by the serial number? It seems the thief has wiped the ipad as it no longer shows on her devices list in find my iPhone. Can the serial number be used to trace it once it is set up on a different Apple ID?

    No.
Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.

  • If you deleted a  device off of find my iphone.how do you get the device to start back up agian and put it back on find my iphone?

if you deleted a  device off of find my iphone.how do you get the device to start back up agian and put it back on find my iphone? becuase i have delted my dads iphone acedentily of find my iphone and it is nownot working. his phone is just staying at a black screen with a loading circle on it. i need to know how to fix this..like do i go the to apple store or the carrier store or can i fix it at home?

Try these two ways to fix the iPhone (in order).  If neither works, you would have to take it to the store.
    1.  Reset the iPhone.  Hold the on/off and home buttons togehter for about 10 seconds.  If it works, you'll get the Apple logo and then something good should happen.
    2.  Try recovery mode as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If one of these work, you can then re-introduce the iPhone to Find My iPhone by doing Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone = "On" on the device.

  • TS4006 need to add another device to iCloud (find my iPhone)?

    Hi
Please could you tell me how to add another device to icloud -  find my iphone?
    Shelby

To add a device to Find my iPhone, just set up iCloud in your iPhone, Mac, iPad or iPod. To set up it in an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, update it to iOS 5 and configure it in Setup Assistant. To set up it in a Mac, update it to OS X 10.7.2 or later and configure it in Setup Assistant or System Preferences

  • How do I add my child's phone to my device list on FIND MY IPHONE  app on my phone?

How do I add a device?

    Hi Bucknamc,
I would recommend doing one of two things:
    1) As Gail suggested, go to Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone, and turn it on. If you are going to do this, you should also go to Settings > General > Restrictions on your child's phone, and select "Don't allow changes to accounts." This will ensure your child does not enable other iCloud functions, which would cause your data to appear on each other's devices.
    2) This is a better solution, in my opinion, since it does not involve sharing an Apple ID. If your child has their own Apple ID (you can create one at http://appleid.apple.com), you can download the Find my Friends app and add them on there. There is also a setting in the Restrictions menu to prevent Find my Friends from being turned off. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-friends/id466122094?mt=8

  • Can family members added as part of the Family Share feature of iOS 8 really erase other family members devices with the Find My iPhone feature?

I initiated a Chat session with Apple Support to see if this was really possible.  The answer I got was that it DID seem possible at this time.  If this is true, then Apple may want to look at giving the sharing device the option to disallow other family members from erasing that device remotely (or playing sound, entering lost mode).
I would be comfortable allowing my wife to lock my iphone or erase it remotely if needed, but I would not want any of my kids to have that ability.
Can somebody else confirm this could be done?
My case # with Apple is: 668372718

    Find My iPhone
    Good day,
    Ryan

Just tested this.  You have to enter the Apple ID Password for the device you are trying to remote erase.  You CAN put the device in lost mode without the password, but you cannot initiate a remote wipe without the password for the device.

  • If you have multiple devices on the find my iphone how do you prevent someone from accessing those other devices if your device is stolen

I have set up the find my iphone app to be hooked up to my phone, computer, ipod and my family's devices. Thru the find my iphone app you can delete the hard drive of any device to keep a theif from getting your personal information. But lets say my phone is stolen, is there a way of preventing the person who stolen my phone from being able to delete the information on my computer?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your device should have it's screenlock enabled so that this can't happen, but if you haven't set a screenlock, then yes someone could do this.

  • HT204053 How do i add another device to my find my iphone

But the device is not under my account

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
This iPhone, iPad or iPod touch must have your Apple ID in order to use Find my iPhone under your Apple ID. If not, open Settings > iCloud > Delete account, and log in with a new Apple ID. You will lose all the data of your old Apple ID.
Then, go to Settings > iCloud, and turn on Find my iPhone, so you will be able to track it with the Find my iPhone app or through http://www.icloud.com

  • How can I make my device offline on find my iphone?

I Have an iPhone 5s on the IOS 8 software and I am wondering how I can show my device as offline on the Find my iPhone app, I need to know ASAP thank you

Turn the Phone Off. Turn Airplane Mode on. Turn Cellular Data Off. Turn Find my iPhone Off in settings.
Any of these things will render he iPhone unable to communicate with the iCloud servers for Find My iPhone.   Though that essentially defeats the purpose of Find my iPhone.

  • IOS devices restoring tip: Find My iPhone

Whenever you want to retore you device from iTunes, always turn your find my device off. If you don't do so, you restore, you configurate your phone and you don't remember your Apple ID or Apple ID password, you're ******, because they won't exchange it, even though you're still under warranty.
Hope that can help some of you!

  • TS4006 My iPhone 5 will not show as listed under my devices when using find my iPhone. I've tried everything

All other devices that I own like iPads and children's phone will display but my wife's will not.   All settings are identical and can't seem to locate the issue.

  • TS3376 how can i tell if someone is logging into my find my iphone account and how can i find out who it is?

how can i tell if someone is logging into my find my iphone account and how can i find out who it is? Can I add a second layer of password security for Find My iphone?

Nobody can log in to your iCloud account unless you gave them your password. There is no other way.
If you shared your password with someone (not a good idea) and no longer want them to have access to your account, change the password and don't share it again.
