My Apple TV keeps telling me it cant find my itunes account.

I have an Apple TV2 - initially it worked fine and I happily rented movies. However recently I have been having problems. Whenever I go to rent a movie to watch it tells me that it cant find my itunes account or I have entered the incorrect password. I haven't and have checked all the details are correct. I'm glad to see I'm not alone I rented a TV show yesterday from my Mac. I could get to it on my ATV2, but when I tried to play it just would spin and spin. Finally got the message had to log into Home Sharing. Then couldn't reach iTunes store. Basically could never authenticate my account.
Went to my Mac same problems. Tried my wife's with her account and it authenticated.
This morning knock on wood, it's all working, so far...
Would have been nice if there was a known problem for apple to post something. Either on Apple's support site, or better there should be a system notification area in the iTunes store.

We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
If you would look help then you will need to provide some more info as to what you are trying to do e.g. are you trying to redownload your past purchases (what you can redownload will depend upon what country that you are in and whether items are still in your country's store), view your library (if it's a new computer then your library will only show if you copy it onto that computer or redownload it).
If you open iTunes on your PC does the phone then show when it's connected ?

Unable to Create an iTunes account (free usage or otherwise) (iPhone 3GS)

So my father and I just bought our selves iPhones to stay in touch (today is the 24th... well now 25th). I recently wanted to try to get foursquare, skype, and a few other free apps so I decided to try making me an iTunes account. We tried 3 different credit cards to try and make one but they all came back with the same issue "your credit card was declined please try another pay method."
Jump to 2 hours ago I've been trying constantly to make a Free app account, the type where you go to the store, click a free app, apply for an account and say "none." When asked for credit card information, which then allows you to download free apps only. Well using this method I get the EXACT same responce "your credit card was declined please try another pay method."
Is there currently some issue going on with the iTunes store right now?
I should note I've tried making an account through both the iPhone and my PC.

I don't know what "something" you were trying to redeem, but if it was a valid iTunes Store give, go to the main iTunes Store page (within iTunes), click on the "Redeem" link on the right side of the page, and enter in the code from your card. You'll be able to create an iTunes Store account without needing a credit card.

Unable to de-authorise itunes account

Hi, Itunes wont let me de-authorise even though i enered the correct username and password, it still says unable due to incorrect user/pass.
It lets me log in to the store or this forum!
I am authorised on 4 out of 5 computers. (which no longer exist). And am about to build a new one. Hence the reason i want to de-authorise.
is there a way to de-authorise from my account,without using the itunes installed on on the actual computers?
I dont want to end up losing my purchases due to having no authorises left.

Once you have 5 computers authorized (not before), you can Deauthorize all.

If you have any auto-renewing subscriptions then you should be able to see them by going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone, tapping your id and selecting View Apple ID on the popup - if you don't have any auto-renewing subscriptions then it won't appear on your account page.

I have been unable to find the iTunes app for my iPad

I Can only find music and book apps which are great and no problem with those but if I want to buy music or redeem iTunes cards, I have to go to the PC. Can anyone help? I have an iPad 3rd generation.

Check settings> general> restrictions> iTunes store to see if iTunes has been restricted. If you can't find iTunes Store tap redeem at the bottom of the App Store page to redeem gift cards.

I am unable to authorize my itunes account on my new MacBook.

It keeps showing 'unknown error -42408'. I have two Apple IDs and it shows the same error message for both.
It could well be related to the fact I removed itunes 11 from the new laptop and reinstalled itunes 10 because it is significantly better (but it wont be if I can't play any of the music I purchased on itunes!!).

If you simply removed iTunes '11 and reinstalled iTunes 10, then some ressources will be missing, since iTunes comes as part of the system. The best you can do, is upgrading to iTunes '11 again, unless you want to do the full Monty and donwgrade MacOS X as well - reinstall an older MacOS X version and upgrade all but iTunes.

How do I merge my old ipod with my current itunes library. I'm not sure of my previous itunes or apple id..

iPods (except for the iOS-based iPod touch) are not directly associated with an Apple ID. The only way your Apple ID may comes into play is if you have songs on the iPod that were purchased from iTunes Store (using your Apple ID), and you want to transfer those purchased songs (not other songs) from the iPod into your current iTunes library.
If your goal is to transfer all song files from the iPod to your computer, you cannot do that (by design) using iTunes (except for songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "iPod transfer," you should get some links. (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your current iTunes library. If you have songs purchased from the iTunes Store, and they are older purchases from the early days of the iTunes Store (when songs were copy protected), you may need to authorize your computer for the Apple ID used to make the purchases. Otherwise, those songs will not play or sync. Please post back if this is the case...

TS1424 when i try to get on my itunes account i get the error message "New itunes library" and i am unable to open my account.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
