TS3423 How do I apply firmware update 1.9 on 10.6.8?

Hi, I'm trying to update the firmware on my MBP 15" (MacBookPro6,2) but I'm having trouble. I want to update to 1.9 (yes there is  an update to 2.3 or something but this requires lion which I have no intention to upgrade too), this says it requires 10.6.4 so one would assume that thats a minimum requirement but no it seems that 10.6.8 is an invalid system. Is there anyway around this? I think this update might have been missed when I got the machine as it went from 10.6.3 to 10.6.5 and missed 10.6.4. I think this update is the cause of the vain in my system, that is the external screen flickers, as the update says "it improves compatibility with external displays." (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1098)

NVM, it was a hardware problem that was causing the problems

How do I install firmware updates for time capsule?

If you are using the Lion or Mountain Lion operating system on your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
A message will be displayed if there are any available updates. Click to update if that is the case.
If you are using the Leopard or Snow Leopard operating system......
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, the click Manual Setup
Click on the word Version (3rd line on the page) and any available updates will be displayed. Click on Update to proceed.

  • When I try to download update, I save the file as directed. However, the update is not applied. How do I apply the update for Firefox?

I am being prompted to download the update to a new version of Firefox. When I click on download, I receive a window to save the file. I save the file instead of canceling. After the download has been saved, my version of Firefox still has not been update. How do I apply the update?

Thanks Alex, but sadly I already tried that. Neither .docx or .xlsx files show up in the content list. They both show as a Chrome HTML document so changing how Firefox addresses those doesn't help since it thinks its the same type of file. I don't think I can manually add files into the "Content Type" left side nav.

  • Any good reason to apply firmware update 1.2?

Just for those of you with a 2.17 Ghz iMac Intel Core2Duo (purchased December 2006) 20" model, is there a good reason to apply firmware update 1.2? I.e. does it improve compatibility with any other updates? I currently have Boot ROM version IM51.0090.B03. I didn't want to apply it unless absolutely necessary, or if it improves anything. I prefer to say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

a brody...I did apply 1.2 the same day as it came out....wasn't having a problem before and did not have a problem after...saw no change....ain't broke ,don't fix it....for you 2 Al...
    but you are both behind

  • How to install Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 in Lion?

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a 27" iMac with a NVidia 7600GT graphics card.  Knowledgebase article HT3986 says that Graphics Firmware Update 1.0 must be installed first. I downloaded the firmware update  but on running it says the Mac OS X 10.6 is required  but I've already upgraded to Lion.
I was able to install Windows 7 but I have to disable the graphics card for it to boot and use it in VGA mode.
How can I install the firmware update?

I used BC 4.0. I don't remember installing the firmware update and thought it likely that I would skip it as I didn't intend to install Windows.
    Here's the system profile information:
    NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT:
Chipset Model:          NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
      Type:          GPU
      Bus:          PCIe
      PCIe Lane Width:          x16
      VRAM (Total):          256 MB
      Vendor:          NVIDIA (0x10de)
      Device ID:          0x0391
      Revision ID:          0x00a1
      ROM Revision:          3022
I can't find info on what to look for on this iMac to know if it's been updated.

  • How to reinstall SMC Firmware Update?

    Hi,
I've an issue with my fans: after a SMC reset , they're doing fine until I put my MacBook Pro to sleep; then they are stuck at about 2000 rpm, independent of the CPU temperature, so that I've to reset the SMC again to fix it temporarily...
Would like to reapply the SMC Firmware Update to see if this help; does anybody know how to do this, as upon starting the app, it just tells me that I'm already at the right version and there's no Apple Firmware Restoration CD available for the new Macs from late 2008 available (yet).
    Any help's highly appreciated!
    Thanks and best regards,
    Michael

    That's quite normal.
haha oh wow... did you guys actually read what OP wrote?
    @ OP, read here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1823105&tstart=45
obviously there's nothing you can do up to get your mbp replaced to hopefully get a working one. i don't think apple will EVER fix this problem, cuz it exists since release. just like many other issues apple never fixed...

  • How to run a firmware update for buffalo tech NAS

I downloaded a firmware updater for a Mac to run the install of a firmware update to a Buffalo Tech NAS LinkStation.  Mavericks tells me it can't run this because it is from an unidentifed developer.  Nice.. I need a workaround if that is possible.

    Here you go:

  • To make the change from MobilMe I will have to update from System 10.4.11 to 10.7.2.  How many system and firmware updates will I have to do?

To make the change from MobilMe I will have to update fro System 10.4.11 to 10.7.2.  How many firmware and system updates will I have to make

First, see if your system can run Lion:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html
If you have any PPC apps, none of them will work under Lion.
If you meet the requirements for Lion, you can go to Snow Leopard(US $29), then update to 10.6.8, then update to Lion(US $29).
Apple says 2GB's of memory minimum. I wouldn't update to Lion unless you can run at least 4GB's.

  • New iTunes & applying App updates

In the new iTunes, how do you apply app updates as there is no "search for updates" or "update all" buttons anymore?  Previously I could decide which updates to apply.
I have 9 app  updates needing applied but I dont want to apply them all.   I used to apply via computer as some of the updates can take a while

After continuing my search for answer -  I eventually found it  (I have iphone 5,  iTunes 11 and a Windows PC)
    1) Start ITunes (version 11 is most recent).
    2) Plug you Iphone in so it will find it.
    3) When looking at the main ITunes main page... "You can show the sidebar (which was the old way to view ITunes) by pressing Option-Command-S on a Mac or Co ntrol-S on Windows. Alternatively, you can open the View option from the menu bar and select Show sidebar.  I just used Ctrl+S - you will now recognise the ols style of ITunes but will still be Version 11
    4) Near top of sidebar you will  see Apps, and number of updates pending, Click apps - and voila -  you will see the old style... and sync as you did before!!!  I have no idea why Apple made it so confusing and less user friendly, but they did.

  • Pantech UML290 firmware update error wmc802

Firmware update check for the Pantech UML290 using VZAM fails.  The error is WMC802.  Does anyone know what this error means or how to do the firmware update check?  Thanks, Paul

SammuelP, I am having the same issue with my Verizon UML290 with the firmware error: WMC802. In the VZAccess Manager program dialog box, under Options, Preferences, Firmware Update, pressing the "Check for Updates" yields the WMC802 error some of the time, with the UML290 card connected or not connected. Were you able to solve this error for the first user in this thread? Thanks.

  • Firmware updation

I had a problem with my Hp proliant DL 180G5 server, in this server i have  smart array e200 controller. when i  browse this controller through web i t is showing some error in acceleration as
    status                                           Temporarily Disabled
Error code                                    Cache Disabled Low Battery
    Battery Status                            Failed
So, with this message we have replaced the battery, but the error still the same. So my next step is to upgrade the firmware of the controller. Do you think this is the right decision, if so please tell me how to do this firmware updating, and also I need to know that if the firmware is updated any raid configuration is changed.
please help me what to be done.

  • Firmware Update to 7.5.2 TC

How long does the firmware update to 7.5.2 (from 7.4.2) take on a brandnew timecapsule?
Been waiting for a while and the light is still yellow solid :-(
    Thx for your hints.

Yes, I would stop the current update process, and then, give it another try. Start with just one of your AirPorts. If the process takes longer than 5-10 minutes, something is wrong and it should be aborted.

  • My iMac 2011 21" Maverick cannot install iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.9

My iMac 21" mid 2011 2.8GHz Ci& 16Gb OSX 10.9.1 has started to run 'hot'. Even then freshly rebooted, the top left hand side of the computer (with the screen facing you) gets rather warm (very hot if you actually use the computer). I beleive this to be the location where power supply is located.
    I have tried:
    1) resetting the SMC (shutting down and removing the power cable - over night).
    2) resetting PRAM
    3) vacuuming out the vents to remove possible 'fluff' and dust.
    4) threatening it with a hammer...
None of these actions has worked.
I rummaged about on the support forums and notice that there are a few firmware updates that might be worth installing - just to remove firmware bugs as a potential contributing factor. The available updates were - my iMac is running SMC version 1.71f22 and there is a 1.9 version, and an upgrade to the Radeon 6770M graphics Firmware to 3.0.
However the requirements on the web site http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1498 state that I need to be running Lion... I have mavericks installed and the installer alerts with "This software is not supported on your system" when I am cheeky enough to try installing the firmware.
Can anyone please adivse on how to install these firmware updates - without having to downgrade to Lion?
    Many thanks.

I have just checked the MBA (and an old MBP) and they both have the right versions.
    e.g.
    MBA
    Boot ROM Version:          MBA61.0099.B04
    SMC Version (system):          2.13f7
And the MBP 7,1 Mid 2010 (pimped a bit with 8Gb Ram and a SSD)
    Boot ROM Version:          MBP71.0039.B0E
    SMC Version (system):          1.62f7
So everything looks sweet! Silly me for thinking that Apple had over looked this.
Thanks to everyone for their help in clearing up my misunderstanding.

  • Firmware updates without using iTunes

I have had significant problems in the past using the iTunes software and how it interacts with other things on my computer. As such, I won't install it on a computer that I care about these days. On the other hand, I would like to update the firmware on my ipod (like the clock is now screwed up with the timezone changes) but don't want iTunes to do it.
Any pointers on how to do the firmware update without that? I've been digging all over as I used to have an independent installer, but now can't seem to find it anywhere on the web site.
    Marcos

    rrm,
I got to Marcos' post by searching "dialup update." It seems that several others are in the same boat as me--having a dialup connection and faced with a lengthy download for a firmware update--or drag my G3 Imac into work--so there really is no obscrure ftp site where you can download the update, take it home and drag into the library?
