TS3430 I am having iTunes CTD issues

When I open iTunes it crashes to desktop.  A previous work around was for me to make a new playlist and then delete it.  That now does not work.  I am able to open iTunes in safe mode and it functions normally.  I followed the directions about examining any third party plug-ins but none were found - I am set up to see hidden files as well.  Quicktime is updated and runs with no issue.  Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  Here is the error message I received today:

It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes unless its in Safe Mode. You started exactly where I would have started as well, by looking for 3rd party plugins. Use this article for additional troubleshooting steps and if needed, instructions to remove and reinstall iTunes, or create a new library as the case may be:

    You can email Apple for help but the link is for the iTunes store not the Mac App Store. You've inadvertently poasted in the Using Mac App Store forum but that's ok. Billing issues are the same for the iTunes Store.

  • Anyone else having reset loop issues with ipad or ipad mini after IOS 7.02 update ? Based on my research it looks like this release is a total disaster for a lot of users. Locking up phones and ipads. Hopefully 7.03 will fix this mess.

    My Ipad mini is in a constant reset loop since 7.02 upgrade. Did a full recover twice to Factory setting thru Itunes. That did not work. Any thoughts on this release and it's implications. Looks like many people are having the same issues.

    Thanks for your reply.  It sounds like your device is actually in a restart loop, which is different from the process of a soft reset.  Specifically, what I wanted you to try is this:
    Resetting your device
    If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If resetting does not break the restart loop, it sounds like a different direction may be warranted here. Due to the nature of your issue you may find more assistance by using another one of Apple's support resources:

  • 2 iTunes questions/issues

    I had to recently reinstall Snow Leopard, now I have to issues. 1) when I double click on songs in my iTunes the music doesn't play. I have to right click and then hit play, how do I enable double click again? 2) my iTunes is now set as my default internet music player, how do I change this? 3) a General question, my DSL was with Verizon, now that has been transferred to Frontier. When navigating to web sites it seems that there is an issue with Frontier & Safari. How do I know this? I changed my PC to Safari from Explorer and now I am having the same issue on both my iMac and PC...no wonder they were trying to push me to Foxfire. Is anyone else having this issue, and have you been able to resolve it?

    Well, if you don't have enough space, then there's nothing wrong, right?
    You can check available space under Settings> General> About or by plugging it into iTunes and looking at the color-coded bar.

  • Odd iTunes 5 issue

    Hi everybody.
    I'm having an odd issue, though I'm not sure if it's my iTunes 5, or all of my OS needs fixing. I'm having three main problems:
    1. Neither one of my iPods will show up in iPod updater, though they show up normally on the desktop.
    2. They show up as "generic" iPod icons in the iTunes source window, not the proper icons.
    3. The option for "show album art on iPod" isn't under iTunes pref when a iPod Photo or my Nano is plugged in.
    I plugged them both into a friend's iBook to update them, and had zero problems.
    I trashed com.apple.iPod.plist, and iTunes.plist, to no avail. I actually deleted and reinstalled iTunes as well.
    I have no idea what's wrong here, but its quite frustrating.
    I'm on a Dual G5 Powermac running 10.4.2. Both iPods are fully updated.
    Any ideas on what I could maybe do?

    Well, problem solved. After much frustration involving restarts of both machines and a reinstall or two of iTunes on the PC, I did a bit of hunting around on some tech forums, as well as some testing on my home network. Turns out the NIC drivers on my Windows desktop were to blame. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from the motherboard's manufacturer disc did the trick.

  • ITunes/Keychain issue

    ok, I can't get into iTunes and all my purchased music will not play. This is the only computer that I have ever used iTunes and my iPod on, and after wiping the hard drive, I have not been able to get back into it. iTunes is the ONLY application or issue that I am having. iTunes cannot help me, I've tried. I don't even see anything in my keychain related to iTunes. When I try to either sign in or authorize this computer it says "the requested keychain was invalid" it tells me to try the keychain repair and then try again. When I open keychain access and do the repiar it doesn't find anything wrong. I have no idea what to do... Someone helllllp please!

    Hi, michelle. Try reposting your question in an appropriate iTunes forum. Your problem is clearly software-based, not specific to the Powerbook you're using.

  • OSS 3D caused iTunes burning issues

    A bit of information for those that have iTunes burning issues.
    I installed OSS 3D v 1.62, a sound enhancer programme for iTunes on 14/08/06 and started having CD burning issues... iTunes wouldn't burn beyond 2 tracks and then froze before "finishing".
    On uninstalling OSS 3D today 19/08/06, the iTunes problem I encountered were fixed.
    If you have issues re burning check recently installed software.

    update ... ran sfc /scannow as admin.  windows reports 100% integrity.

    While in the process of paying for my items in my cart, I received a website message saying something
    To the affect that this website is being updated. Your items in your cart will be in your cart.
    Then the website's screen kicked me out the door.
    A few days later I accessed the main page of this website with no problem.
    I can read the information on the main web page pertaining to items I need to purchase, etc., with no problems.
    I click and maneuver from on one tab to another from the main page within this website with no issues.
    When I click on the "SHOP section(tab)" within this website to complete my purchase.
    Part of this website an error occurs on this "SHOP tab".
    "Safari can't connect to the server".
    Safari can't open the page "https://and the name of this website" because Safari can't connect to the server "www.the name of this website".
    I click on the reload from the view of the toolbar and I can't access this website's "Shop section(tab) at all.
    I e-mailed the webmaster of this website a few times, but no response.
    In the past I was able to access the "Shop section(tab") within this website many times to purchase items with no issues.
    Now I am at my wits end as I really need to complete my purchase from this website.
    I cannot purchase these items from other websites. Only this website. Good Grief( :

    You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and only cookies from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Is there anyone out there who can help me?

    I have done that several times.  In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly.  I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time.  It never does.  After doing the factory reset and it still not working correctly, they act like they are confused, almost like I am lying.  I did what you suggested above on the slim chance it would work this time but it did not.  I bought two S5's that day and the other one works perfectly fine.  I know I got a bad phone.  Verizon just does not listen.  It is a bad phone.  I just want a new phone that works properly.  Is that too much to ask?  I bought a new phone that has been bad from day one.  Why oh why do I have to spend hours of my time on the phone, in the store, on the computer, trying to rectify this?  It shouldn't be this difficult!  Help please!!!

  • I am having some serious issues with firefox, i can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and I can't use any of the drop down menus on any site

    I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.

    Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

  • I have been using Firefox for many years now and really like it, now the version 4 is extremely slow, anyone else having the same issue?

    I upgraded to version 4 last week and find it extremely slow compared to the previous version - like so slow that some pages do not even load. I have downloaded and gone back to version 3.6.17 and everything is back to the normal I have known for years with Firefox and it is really fast again...so now I know that there is nothing wrong with my computer and that the supposedly very very fast version 4 is much much slower than the previous version 3.6...so what gives? I'm not keen on going back to the new improved version 4, though I know it will not be supported soon...anyone else having the same issue?

    -3.6 worked great
    -I tried the 4 beta, got rid of it because it was so slow
    -When it upgraded to 4 is VERY slow and freezes often
    -Appears especially slow on sites with flash (ie http://www.bbc.co.uk/news)
