As I mentioned before I can't downlaod anything on mo my iPad or PC, even though I still have over $13 on my gift card!
iMessage does not activate over Wi-Fi on a phone, it needs to send a hidden international SMS to the Apple servers for activation. Do you have cellular service on the phone? Do you have an SMS plan? Are you using an Apple supported carrier? If not, then the carrier could be blocking the activation SMS. Have to reboot and it helps for awhile then stalls againThe Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". This probably has nothing to do with your problem, but it'd be worth going to System Preferences > Network and making sure the SOCKS Proxy is not enabled in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet.
Also, it looks like the crashes you're talking about are actually freezes, i.e. Mail becomes unresponsive rather than quitting unexpectedly. In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer, and see whether Mail displays there what it's doing when it freezes. Actually, you may be able to avoid having to force quit Mail by canceling whatever it's doing (by clicking on the red stop icon of the activity).
Reinstalling Mail will probably accomplish nothing, but it might be worth reinstalling the Combo Update for the type of machine and the version of Mac OS X you're using (which you would have to do anyway if you wanted to reinstall Mail):

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, and no applications should be running while installing it. -

You're not going to be able to use Home Sharing, because for that you'd need iTunes to be open in multiple different Windows user accounts on the same computer at the same time. But iTunes for Windows doesn't support Fast User Switching, so you can't do that.

So my iTunes is all messed up and I don't know why.
I recently was given a new PC from my parents, and one of the first things I did was to import my old music library (about 12000 songs on an external hard drive.) When I added the files I kept receiving an error saying that iTunes could not save the library and, sure enough, the next time I opened iTunes there was nothing there. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of itunes in case that was the problem, and after that I couldn't even get it to open, it would always give me a message saying that required files were missing. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 more times and had no luck.
Most recently i decided to just plug in my iPod and see if my pc would recognize what files were missing on its own. Strangely enough, iTunes opened. Unfortunately it still is unable to save my library. It also says that it cannot read the files on my iPod and that I need to restore its settings, but I would hate to erase it (its a full 160G Classic) just to have itunes be unable to put any files back on it.
If anyone has any idea what is wrong I would greatly appreciate the feedback.I should add that as of this morning iTunes appears to opening fine and reading my iPod (which is inexplicable because I haven't done anything with it since my 1st post.) iTunes still, however, will not save my library. I keep getting error message {-1450}. Also, every time i open iTunes, I am asked to agree to the user agreement, as if i had just downloaded the program.

Whew... never buy an iMac or Laptop from Apple without the 3 year extended AppleCare... well 2 years extended... & I think they should be called on this, they should come with a 5 year Warranty, with more available if you want.

Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

I'm having a problem with my Itunes, when i plug in my ipad mini.
I just got a new ipad Mini for christmas and i wanted to sync it with my music on itunes from my computer. I just had to get a new computer because my other one had broke. So i downloaded just a few songs to my new computer that i wanted to put on my Ipad. But now when i plug in my Ipad mini to my c mac to sync it, Itunes begins to load it then crashes. I have tried updated my itunes, my ipad and my computer being new is already fully updated. So why can't i Sync my Ipad mini?

Follow these steps, testing after each:
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPad to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard).
Turn iPad off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Restart your computer. Then reconnect iPad to your computer.

Having a problem with eBooks in my iTunes library.
As the title says, I'm having some problems with the iTunes library not reflecting what's actually on the disk.
I add the ebook and it seems to add ok. The file gets consolidated into /mymusic/books under the author correctly, but the book is missing from the library. The book is in ePub format, and seems to have the right file extension and shows up as a file of "ePub" type in windows explorer.
Any ideas? Is there a way to re-build the library or a portion of it?Hi tony paine,

Can I download music from my PC onto my new iPhone and still have my iPhone sync with my Mac without a problem?

No. You can only music to your iPhone from one computer at a time. If you try to load music onto it from a 2nd computer, it will erase the current content on the iPhone and replace it with whats in the iTunes library you are connected to,

I notice that my new IPad (3rd generation) will not stay connected to the power cord at all, I'm not exagerating, if I plug it in and browse the Internet without fail it will become unplugged and I will have to push the plug back in (Ba-beep). Ive actually grown to despise that sound when you plug your iPhone or iPad in because it reminds me of how much money I spent on something that PHYSICALLY will not charge while I'm using it.
I know the problem with it holding a charge while in use, I get it, the screen is amazing and it takes a lot to run the display, however, it is unacceptable to me that I can't even keep the thing plugged in while I'm using it. I can not even leave it on my Cal King bed overnight because I will wake up in the morning to find that the plug has been jiggled loose in a corner, so it's still attached but not making a connection thus not being charged.
I love the 4GLTE from Verizon and I love the iPad, but I'm actually using my 1st generation IPad while I am at home so I can leave my new $900 iPad on a table to charge free of incident so I can use the 4G while I'm away from wifi during the day. I have been getting more upset about this because I can not even use the Griffin extended cord to charge the iPad and be far from the plug because only the original apple sync/charge cord will have a better shot at staying in. Absolutely none of my non apple cables will stay in the iPad 3 while having it in my hands.
The plug is at an angle, unlike the first iPad, not sure about the iPad 2. Please let me know if they have same issue.
If anyone else is having this problem with the Gen 3 iPad please let me know because I'm tempted to do something about it with apple and I'm hoping that I just for some reason have a bad cable receiver or something and maybe I can get a replacement and enjoy the iPad as I had expected to. There is no reason why I should be even using my first iPad and I have friends that want to buy it but I am not selling it because I'm unable to sell it because I can't handle the new iPad while it's plugged in, that is ridiculous if it's a common issue so please let me know!Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

I have an imac and am using iphoto. Currently I am having a problem with one particular album which shows in the main part of the window a triangle with an exclamation point. The two photos are at the bottom of the main window in the same area where the "info" "edit" "create" area is. I can see the two photos but I can not get them back into the main part of the window. I can't drag them anywhere either. I can't double click or right click on either of the two photos either. All I can do is click on either one and they get a little bigger. Before I saw the exclamation point in the main body of the window all I get is two squares with nothing in them and the entire border is made up of dashes. Can someone help me?
Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.

Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
