My Ipod nano just stopped playing songs and when I connect it to the computer it is not recognised in I tunes. I have done the trouble shooting steps but with no luck. What do I do next??

You should install iTunes.
Go and get it on the Apple website:

If you have WiFi you can download apps directly from the iPod touch - go to the App Store application. -

I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

By calling iPod tech support while you are under warranty. You also have 14 days to return it w/no questions asked for a replacement or your $$$ back.

Hae you tried to do a hard reset of your phone? This will not lose any data. Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the phone turns off ignoring any slide to power off messages. Then power the phone back on.

i bought this ipod off a friend its second hand but it worked before,, my friend cleared it out so my son can put his own stuff in it ,, but when i turn it on its shows only a usb conneting to itunes and when i connect it to itunes it says soft wear not reconignised and that i should reninstall itunes which i have done 3 times and still it wont connect to itunes,,
ok try this out:
turn the ipod off, than hold the home button and than connect it with your computer, keep holding the home button, if it work fine itunes will give you a message that it found a device in recovery mode and you can try to restore it

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation. I see you are having problems with your Ipod Touch, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10sec. or until Apple logo appears (Nothing will be lost, this is just a "Hard Reset")

IPod mini stops playing and beeps!!
My iPod mini will be playing a song, then it will just stop playing and start beeping in this weird pattern. The display still shows that music is playing, but it doesn't start playing until I reset it. My music was playing fine the day I got it (2 days ago) and now my music skips, stops in the middle of the songs, or just stops playing and exits. It was just working and now it wont. What is wrong? Not sure if this will help but a reset is the first thing to try. To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
