If you type in finder search "Migration Assistant" you should be able to restore from TimeMachine backup.

Try here to fix it. I doubt that you will ever find out why it did that.

My Mac Pro had a new hard drive installed. Everything was restored by Carbonite except my photos. Carbonate restored them to a folder and the folder was dragged over the newly installed iPhoto app. The photos are not installing. What next?

Restoring From Broken Time Capsule
I am troubleshooting a Time Capsule problem for a friend and based on what I can tell it's probably broken. If I plug it in and the LED goes solid amber for about 15 seconds, then it powers down. He needs to restore a file from the Time Machine disk inside, but of course this is not currently possible. Assuming the drive is undamaged, if I extract it and plug it into his Mac via USB bridge or through the SATA interface, will the Mac see the drive as a Time Machine drive that can be used for restoring data?
MBJust a warning .. if he used a password on the disk.. it can be messy. Normal security on the TC using the TC login is not a problem.
The backup is inside a sparsebundle so to access the TM files might take a bit more effort but otherwise should be ok.
If it is a gen 1 or gen 2 TC the problem is power supply.. it fails when it attempts to spin up the hard disk.
A fix of the power supply can restore it to working order.

I purchased a Mac book Pro in Aug 2012 with lion and have upgraded to mountain lion. I currently am looking to install the segate 750 gig hybrid drive. I watching video I shows me needing a OSX 10 disk to boot off of when the new disk is in and the use time capsule to restore system from back up drive to new hybrid. Hope I got this correct so far. that being said my Mac Book did not come with a disk therefore is one available, when I get to point of restoring from back up with it be the same mountain lion system I had. Sorr if this sounds redudant.. Thank you in advance
Connect the new hybrid drive to your MBP. Start up your MBP holding the OPTION key, the two HDD icons will appear. Select the 'restore' icon on the right. When you get to the menu where you have 4 options, select Disk Utility. Format the drive and then you can use the option of restoring it from Time Machine.

How to restore from a time capsule backup
Just wondering this - say my 27 inch iMac just died. But I was backing up to my Time Capsule. And then the next day I buy a new 27 inch iMac (same model HD space, etc OR maybe even greater and better). Can the new 27 inch iMac restore EVERYTHING to how it was from the original 27 inch imac? Would all my photos from iPhoto be restored? My music/movies from itunes?

Yes.
An application called Setup Assistant will appear on the new iMac at startup to ask if you if want to setup the iMac from a Time Machine backup. The "new" iMac will look just like the "old" iMac when you do this. -
not sure of my opions. any ideas
Restart holding down cmd-opt-r. It will boot to Internet Recovery. From there you can reinstall the original shipping OS or restore from Time Machine.

My MacBook hard drive is full again. I have a 13in. Aluminum, Late 2008 MacBook, and about 18 months ago (in October 2013), I replaced the original hard drive with a Samsung SSD 840 Pro Series 256GB hard drive. However, my MacBook is now already saying that my hard drive is full again. When I check "System Information," under "Storage," it states the following: Audio 52.02 GB; Movies 33.68GB; Photos 43.13GB; Apps 14.76 GB; Backups 174.4 MB; and Other 96.39GB.
Also, at home, I have an Apple Time Capsule 4th Generation 2TB that I use as my wireless router, and I also use it for automatic backup via Time Machine. And when I first purchased Time Capsule, the first time I connected Time Capsule, Time Machine asked if I would like to use it to back up my files, and I clicked, "Use as Backup Disk." And that's really all I've ever done with Time Capsule.
In addition, I also have a LaCie Porsche Design P'9223 1TB external hard drive. I have copied my MacBook's hard drive onto my LaCie external hard drive.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Obviously the Audio, Movies, Photos, and Apps are taking up a lot of space... Any suggestions re: what I can do with Audio, Movies, Photos, and Apps? And what about the Other? Other is taking up 96.39 GB. What is Other, and what can I do about it?
And what about partitioning my hard drive... Is that something I should do? Should I partition, or configure, my MacBook's internal hard drive differently? And should I partition, or configure, my external hard drive? And if I need to partition, or configure, my MacBook's internal hard drive differently, how do I setup Time Machine to backup per any such changes? Same thing for my external hard drive?

Thank you for your help.Partitioning makes no sense. You have a drawer full of stuff. Split it into two smaller drawers and you have two smaller drawers full of stuff.
Decide what you can store on external storage - your iPhoto/Aperture/Lightroom libraries can all be stored on externals, as can your iTunes Libraries and so on. Do you need to carry 30 gigs of movies with you all the time? You can get portable drives the size of an iPhone these days. -
External hard drive not showing up in devices, even after troubleshooting and checked in preferences.
OK I solved my own problem. My iPhone was plugged into the other USB port in addition to the external hard drive. I took out the iPhone USB and switched the external hard drive USB to the other USB port. The drive showed up in my devices!

Need help with ipod to Computer transfer
You can transfer music imported from cd's to your iphone. This has never been a restriction.
You are having a problem in your individual case.
Have you tried basics fro the manual? restart, reset, restore. -
The fact that it is 8.0.1 tells me that this version is probably not sorted out yet. My experience is proof. I've been using Firefox for years and would like to make it work.

As you have discovered... No.

i just had a new hard drive installed on my iMac (due to the Seagate replacement program) i was able to migrate my back up(i think) but its now acting like a new computer and i can't get past the registration screen. I filled everything out but the "continue" button won't highlight and let me cxontinue.

Ok, You should be able to click on continue twice so to skip it.
What version is the OS you restored? Or did you just perform Migration Assistant on it?
