TS3623 I have a 3rd generation Apple TV. I have purchased and/or rented numerous movies from iTunes previously. Last night we rented a movie, and we were unable to play it. The movie loaded fine; however, it is stuck on the 'Authorizing' screen. Help??!

I cannot get rented itunes movies to play on my appletv. It keeps getting stuck on the "Authorizing.." screen. Movie loaded fine; however, would not start playing. I have an ethernet cable plugged in, so wireless connectivity strength is a non-issue. Any suggestions??

I have had this identical issue (on an Apple TV3) and was helped by Apple Support who guided me to go to the Settings Menu on the Apple TV and did a RESET. You will need to re connect to your WIFI and your iTunes account (passwords etc).

I'm having a similar problem ... just used my iPad 2 to purchase the Bourne trilogy and it downloaded fine but I did not try to play it right away. Then I plugged the iPad into the computer and it downloaded the SD versions of the movie and I used iTunes to sync my movies. Then I tried to play it and it said it could not open the movie. I then did a full iPad restore and did a fresh sync and now I get the Cannot Opne pop up. Did you ever find an answer to your question?

yepp, I have done numerous tests today, skipped router and hard wired betwenn PC and appletv3. same problem.
same network, but from my laptop, works like a charm.. so its not reproducable on all machines.
this seems to be a itunes/bonjour problem, not ATV3 problem.

It's not normal, presuming that the movie downloaded completely, but it has come up from time to time. I've not been able to figure out from the various posts why rentals work for most but in some cases insist on a connection to the iTunes store. Go here:

to report the issue to the iTunes Store. Perhaps they can provide an explanation, though you may just get canned and rather inapplicable replies about how to rent or download.

Hello I have a third gen Apple TV, when I rent a movie it takes about 4 to 6 hrs to download, once it's finally done the MSG you get
Tells you to press play to watch or press menu to watch later. My problem is when you go to watch later it makes you re download the movie again, (another 4 to 6 hr wait. Is there a way to buffer so you don't have to redownload?

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
If you do have a slow connection, you might consider renting the movie on your computer, that way once it has downloaded it will stay there until it expires and you can stream it to the Apple TV at any time once it has finished downloading.

I am having a difficult time downloading HD movies from iTunes. I tried on both my imac and new macbook pro but 95% of the time I get error 8008 (corruption). I can stream HD content from Netflix and hulu w/o problems. I also empty my download folder.

After it started happening on my imac I tried to download on my ne macbook pro but the same thing is happening. I can stream without any ral noticiable problems from my icloud library, Netflix, and Hulu but when I try to download so I can back them up I get the 8008 error code. I have contacted spple support and am still waitin on an answer. Sometimes the error will happen towards the beginning and other times when it is almost downloaded. I can tell it is atarting when the time remaining starts to fluctuate, then the download bar may stop ans start over. It seems to be an icloud problem but I thought I would check to see if anyone else has had the problem and was able to get it taken care of. It should be noted that everyonce in a while I do get a complete download.

These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.

I can't watch any TV shows/Movies/Music Videos unless there on my Ipod . The picture shows up fragmented and when the video does show up the sound is distored.

If you rented it on your iPad then it should have downloaded into its Videos app, and you should be able to watch it without being online - though some people have posted that they need to be online when first starting to watch a rental, so you may want to watch a few seconds whilst you have internet connection (you have 24 hours if you are in the US, 48 hours elsewhere, after starting to watch a rental before it expires).

It's the first time I've bought a movie from iTunes on my PC and it gives me glitches the enire movie aswell as the voices don't match the picture?

I got a new PC. I have an iTunes account on my iPod as well but I set it up properly on here as well this is a Pavilion HP G6 it has windows 8. I dowloaded iTunes onit, it works fine. I bought "We're the Millers" today on iTunes and it gets me upset I can't watch it. Every time I play it it glitches. After the first sevral glitches the voice loses the picture; the character on the screen isn't saying the right words at the right time. I waited till it was fully down loaded and I restarted my labtop twice to see if the was the cause. You cannot access the movie from the Apple TV screen. You would need to use airplay on the iPad to stream the video to the Apple TV.

Where are you physically located? Although I haven't heard of specific instances, if you read the store terms of use they do reserve the right to use technologies to monitor your physical presence in the store's country when making purchases. Even if you have a functioning US account, you are also supposed to be actually in the USA when doing the downloads.

I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?

Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.
