TS3682 Restore content from older device to new device in iCloud

Hi, just got a new device ( iphone5 ) and I need to transfer content from my older device using iCloud. Unfortunately I missed the prompt during the setup of my new device when asked if I would like to restore iCloud back up. Verizon activated my new phone and never bothered to ask me if I wanted this option , they answered no when I really should have said yes. Now I'm trying to restore my old back up and can't since I don't have access to my computer / ITunes. Is there any other way to get this backup using wifi ? Thank you for your time and expertise regarding this  matter. Miguel

  • Transfering content from older model to newer model

I currently use a 20 gb ipod that is almost completely filled. I am planning to get either a 30 or 60 gb model and would like to transfer my current content (stored on my computer)to the new unit. iTunes is on my computer now, and so is a USB connection. Can I do this using my current software and hardware? without having to load any of the new software, etc. In other words how can I transfer all my current content with only plugging my new unit into the current connection?

You just need to connect the new iPod. On connection it will walk you through naming the iPod etc and automatically update from your existing iTunes.

  • How to restore backup from different device

Hallo... seems I have problem with downloading backup from my older ipad mini (16gb) into newer ipad mini retina (32gb)... during the first setup it aksed me if I want to restore backup from older device, but since my older ipad and its backup was on ios 8.0.2 and newly purchased ipad was still on 7.1.2 i needed to skip this and upgrade os first. now I have new device set up and running ios 8 but I can not get into it backup from older device. what to do?

Resetting the iPad back to factory defaults should take you to the setup process and let you restore to an iCloud backup : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes :
You can go through the iOS Setup Assistant again by erasing all the content on the device. Just tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will remove all content from your device, so do this only if you already have a backup. The iOS Setup Assistant is the only way to restore a backup.

    Which password?
If you mean the passcode to your iPhone, here's the solution:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you mean the encryption password to your backup on your computer:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

  • How do you transfer contents from old ipad to new?

How do you transfer contents from old iPad to new?

    Caesar1948-
I'm not using iCloud, so do not know for sure.  I feel as if I have more control by using iTunes on my computer, to determine what is on my iPad, and what gets deleted.
If your wife will share the same Apple ID with you, you do not need to remove everything from the old iPad.  She can share your purchased Apps, music, et cetera.
In iTunes, you can have several iOS devices sharing Apps under a common Apple ID, but you can also "uncheck" specific Apps you do not want on one of your devices.  Each device has an identity so iTunes should remember which App goes on which device during future syncs.
If your wife will have her own individual Apple ID, you need to go to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings.  This will return the iPad to factory defaults, except it will retain the latest iOS version installed.

  • When transfer content from current ipad to new one the apps didn't load

when transfering data from existing ipad to new one using icloud,  the apps didn't download although the screen icons appear on the new ipad. how to fix?

So images of the apps appear on your screen and you cannot open them?
How did you transfer the data? Did you sync the content from itunes or restore the new ipad from the old ipad backup?
The best way would be to backup the old one and restore the new one from that backup

  • I have deleted email and photos from my device but icloud still says I don't have any storage

I have deleted emails and photos from my device but iCloud still says I don't have enough storage to download the latest iOS version

You'll have to delete more data from the device.
Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device.  (Ignore storage on icloud, since that is not part of the equation.)

  • Get all content from iTouch to a new computer.

My problem is very simple to explain, but I find no solution.
My old computer is damaged and I cant use it anymore. So I bought a new one and I want to get all my stuff from the iTouch to iTunes on me new computer. After installing iTunes I actived in iTunes my iTouch for iTunes. In iTunes I get the massage that now two computers are actived (5 are possible).
So I connect my iTouch with the wire to my computer and I get the massage that my iTouch is logical connected with an other iTunes libary. I get the only possibility to delete my iTouch and syncronize it with the content of the new iTunes libary.
*My question is how can I get my content from the iPod touch to iTunes on my new computer?*

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
So, in a perfect world, you would restore your library of valuable music from *your backed up files* to the library on your new PC, you know, the ones burnt to DVD/CD or on an external HD.
This is the way iTunes works, it makes it perfectly clear and actively encourages users to *back up your music*.
The iPod touch is not a back up device (nor is it advertised as one) it is a music player with a volatile memory that could actually disappear at anytime so it should not be trusted as a store for valuable files.
To salvage your music you will have to use some 3rd party application on your PC/Mac (you fail to say) such as [Touch Copy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.html], Google for other options. This is not guaranteed to work but hopefully you will get your music back.
    Then back up.
    Good luck,
    Dud.
*iPod touch* by the way, this an [ITOUCH|http://en.pasen.it/product_detail.php?id=36]

  • Transferring albums from older iPod to newer Mini Mac

How can I transfer some albums from my wife’s old iPod 20 GB model A1059 to our newer Mini Mac. Most of the older albums were transfered to the new computer, but somehow I must have deleted many of the albums, which are still on the old iPod.  How do I transfer those albums?  I don’t want to mess up what I currently have in my iTunes.  Any help or direction would be appreciated.

    Hhi there Vince1942,
It sounds like you have media on your iPod that you want to transfer to your Mac mini. You can use this article to transfer your iTunes Store purchases over:
Re-download or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer
Keep this in mind for media from other sources:
This feature works only for content bought from the iTunes Store. Any items that you imported from audio CDs or received from other sources won't copy from your device to the iTunes library. However, all podcasts from your device's Podcasts app and copies of all PDFs and books from your device's iBooks app will transfer to the computer. Learn how to transfer media to your iTunes library.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Transfer playlists and content from iPod Touch to new computer

I was trying to search for old answers on this topic, but instead the system is forcing me to create a new post.
My old laptop crashed, and the backup I had of my iTunes was outdated.  I have more current music and playlists on my iPod Touch than are available to back up from my external hard drive, including a playlist I created for my dad's funeral.  I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE IT.  I spent hours and hours creating it, and ripping music for it, and facing losing it if I sync my iPod really hurts.  I am afraid to connect my iPod Touch to my new laptop for fear of losing that playlist and the music I ripped from his CD collection to create it.
Can someone please help me to back up my content, including my playlists and rippled music (and ideally apps and other content) from my iPod Touch to the new laptop?  (I also have voice mails in an app on my iPod from a friend who died shortly after my dad, and I don't want to risk losing those, either, as they are the only way I have of hearing his voice.)
Again, because my old laptop crashed between backups, I do not have the option of backing up the iTunes data from the old computer and transferring it that way.  I have to get it off the Touch somehow and get it back into iTunes on the new laptop.
(I hate Apple for making what should be super easy so hard!  Why is data transfer one-way only, from computer to device?  And how can I be certain my iPod Touch won't be erased and set to the content on the computer if I connect it??)
Thank you to anyone who can help me!
