TS3694 Forgotten Ipod touch password -won't restore! HELP!

My daughter forgot her password on her ipod touch. I tried to restore it back to factory settings through Itunes, but that was unsuccessful, as it kept getting error messages at the end. HELP! As she keeps trying to use my phone to access Pets Next Door until the issues is resolved   By the way, I am using the same computer we sync it to, so I don't understand what the issue is. Ideas?

Having sililar problems with one of my 2 ipod touch.
One set up fine. The other however is stuck at the first step!Picture of the itunes logo and the usb cable.
I did manage to set it up fine and get some music on it. However itunes asked that I update the software for the device. I clicked update and now the ipod is back to the start and stuck in that mode.!!

  • Failed Upgrade to Version 3.1.2 - iPod Touch now won't restore - HELP !!

I sync'd my iPod touch (2nd Generation) today and decided to upgrade from V3.0 to the V3.1.2
The upgrade was donloaded but somehow failed to load onto the iPod. Saw the message on iTunes "Updating iPod Software" but after about an hour I gave up and reset the iPod and PC. Now I've tried to restore it but I just get the White Apple logo on the screen and a progress bar that's stuck. iTunes still shows "Restoring iPod software". Tried this about 3 times now and ready to give up !!! Any ideas welcome. Thanks. Gav

  • Lost Ipod Touch password, no backup, please help

My daughter forgot her ipod touch password.  She has never backed it up on itunes before.  She has a lot of games and tunes that she purchased.  Is there a way to recover that password without losing the downloads?  Any help is appreciated!

    Hi debs2014,
You will have to place your daughter's iPod Touch into recovery mode to restore the device to default factory settings.
There is no other way to recover a lost password, but to place the device in recovery mode then restore.
Here's the article for placing the device in recovery mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If your daughter purchased apps and music from itunes she can re-download from the itunes and apps store apps on her device by tapping the icons on home screen, then signing in with apple id and password.
Here an article that can help you re-download past purchases:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If your daughter didn't purchase the apps and tunes from the itunes or apps stores, then she will have to re-download or re-purchase the items from where she purchased the apps and tunes initially.
    Hope this helps.
    Let me know.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.

  • Forgotten Ipod touch password

i baught my son an ipod touch and he keep changing the password for no-what-so-ever reason. now even he dont know the password what to do?

Connect it to iTunes and click Restore. That's the only way to get around the passcode lock. The Restore will wipe all the data from the IPT, but if you are Restoring from the computer normally used to sync the IPT, everything will be restored once you sync.

  • IPod touch (4G) won't restore apps from backup

I just updated my iPod Touch (4th generation) to from iOS 4 to iOS 6. I had previously made a full backup. I've tried restoring from it, but it won't restore my apps and app data. I know I can redownload the apps, but I need the app data; I had some very valuable data saved and I'm very upset. What am I doing wrong?

Synced media like apps and music are not inlcuded in the backup that iTunes makes. If the apps are not in the iTunes library there is not place for the apps data, whic is in the backup, to go.
Download the apps to your iTunes library:

  • 1st Gen iPod Touch stuck, won't restore!

I have an old iPod touch, 1st generation. I plugged it into my computer to restore it to original settings. My computer recognizes it, but says it has detected an iPod that is stuck in recovery mode. So the option is to restore the iPod. When I click that, it begins to go through the "Extracting software" and then "Preparing iPod to restore"...and then, it pops up with an error message that says "The iPod could not be restored. An unkown error has occured (1). I have tried this so many times. I've tried restarting, repowering the iPod on and off. Doing a hard reboot, holding down the menu botton upon start up to get it off the "connect to iTunes" screen. Nothing works. My computer system is current, Maverick. And my iTunes is up to date as well. Can anyone help?? THANK YOU!! Also, the iPod was working just fine before trying to restore it.

Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • My iPod Touch (3G) won't turn on?

I've owned my iPod Touch since June 30th, 2010 (a little over a year). I am no longer under the warranty, so I know that if my iPod is broken, I will have to pay. My iPod has been dropped several times, it has cracks in the screen, but the screen hasn't chipped away like others. It's never been dropped in water, so I don't think water is the problem. I'm also positive the headphone jack is broken, as several pairs of working headphones have not worked on it unless a decent amount of pressure is applied. Anyways, back to the major problem. My iPod will not turn on. I'll hold the power and home button, and the apple logo will come up, but it won't take me to the lock screen, it will simply go black again. It won't charge at all, and the only time I can successfully turn it on is when the iPod is "charging". However, the second I unplug it, it goes all black. All help is appreciated!! Thanks!

Same problem here - Ipod touch 3G won't turn on. I've tried reseting - but absolutely no response and when I try to restore, before it completes the restore, error 1600 comes up. This is my daughter's ipod and we've tried all of this after plugging in to a wall charger overnight and then using a pc and then mac and still nothing. Any suggestions?

  • Ipod touch (2G) stuck in "restore" mode.  Need HELP please

I have contacted Apple support several times since Friday and was just hung up on by an extremely rude lady in customer support. I am really frustrated and just trying to get my 5 yr old little boys ipod touch working again.
The situation is that our son's old computer crashed. So we have a newer computer set up for him. Reinstalled itunes on it. Called Apple on Friday, really nice rep gave me several instructions for transfering purchases, making sure everything was up to date and turning home sharing on. Did all that, got off the phone with him and then the computer tells me that the ipod needs and update.
Clicked ok, and update starts going for a few minutes.....then get an error message that says that the ipod is basically stuck in "restore" mode and needs to be reset to factory settings. It won't let me do anything to the ipod. It won't restore, reset, anything. Just shows a picture of usb cable and says to connect to itunes.
Connect to itunes and it keeps giving me say error message.
Will someone please help me? Apple support sure won't.

Did you try to connect in recovery mode, to start the restore process again? Connecting in Recovery mode is explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
