I was trying to update my iphone 5 to IOS7 and couldnt do it for 5 times then I did the following and was able to update it right away
Clearing your DNS cache may resolve the issue and enable you to connect to the iTunes Store.
The easiest way to clear your DNS cache is to shut down your computer completely and then restart. If you can't shut down, you can clear your DNS cache manually.
Click Start and choose Run.
In the dialog that appears, type “cmd” (don’t type the quotes) and click OK.
After the DOS prompt (C:\), type “ipconfig /flushdns” (without the quotes) and press Enter. Make sure you enter a single blank space after “ipconfig.”

I keep getting "the network connection could not be established" error message when trying to update my iPads and iPhone to iOS 5.1

I keep getting "the network connection could not be established" message when trying to update my iPad, iPad2 and iPhone4 devices using either my iMac or MacBook. The Macs and iOS devices are apparently working correctly otherwise. Problem started about a day ago when I connected one of the iPads to my iMac and iTunes notified my of an update for the device. I tried and got the above message. Tryied other iPad2 and iPhone4 and get the same message. Also, get same message when trying to update using the MacBook. My system SW is 10.7.3 on the iMac and 10.6.8 on MacBook. iTunes is version 10.6. Have gone thru the check list of things to check and have re-started. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Another user named Springbk posted a fix that worked for me as I was having the same problem today:
I Changed my DNS settings to OpenDNS
On a Mac go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK>ADVACED>DNS
change DNS by adding ( + )
208.67.222.222
then
208.67.220.220
click okay/apply after. then try the update. after the update, just delete the two open DNS server numbers. should revert back to your old one.

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

So I tried to update my iPad mini 2 with retina display (wifi) from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8.1.2 using the restore option on iTunes on my mac. I tried it several times and each times it said that the download was corrupt once it was finished. I tried to update it directly through my iPad, but still didn't work. I've also downloaded the appropriate ipsw file and directly put it on my iPad mini using iTunes (right click + option thingy), but it was telling me that it was incompatible. I've reseted my iPad. I've put it into recovery mode (and then restore it), I shut down all the firewalls on my mac. I've even created a new apple id, but still, I cannot upgrade it to iOS 8. What's even more frustrating is that my two brothers who have the exact same model have been able to successfully update directly on the iPad on their first or second try. I was thinking that there might be some extra firewalls on my router but why did it work for my brothers but not me ? I've already been on this (Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes - Apple Support) and many others, and yes my computer is updated and I have the newest version of iTunes.
Any suggestions ?

I'm trying to update my itunes on my iMac G5 but whenever I try to install the update it comes up with
' itunesX cannot be installed on this computer. Please quit iTunes before performing this update'
I know that OS 10.3.9 is required and that is the system that I'm running on so I'm stumped.
I'm extremely frustrated as I've previously managed OK when updating for the families other ipods, now I've bought my husband the 2G shuffle I can't even get the update to get it to work!

Make sure all apps are closed completely then click on the blue Apple (Upper Left hand Corner) Go to Software updates..

If you haven't installed any Adobe applications yet or if you are okay with uninstall and reinstall of installed applications , other than Adobe Creative Cloud. follow below steps.
Navigate to C: > Program Files(x86) >Common Files > Adobe.
Under Common files > Adobe .
Locate the folders named : Adobe PCD , Caps , Backup. and rename them to Adobe PCD-old , Caps-old and Backup-old.
Then try to install CC apps from Creative Cloud desktop application , it shud work.

I have the same problem! Even I changed a computer, changed another usb, changed everything I can change! if u can find 4.0 ipsw I think u can restore ur iPhone back to 4.0, I did, at least I can use my iPhone.
