    After the Apple logo appears, what happens then? Can you hear any sounds or if you tap on the screen, does it seem like apps can open or are you just seeing a black screen? You might have a hardware problem, but you can try restoring the software and see what happens.
    Read this in its entirety before you do anything. Make sure you read the sections at the end about using recovery mode.

    Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Anyone else having trouble with their iPad disconnecting from wifi since 6.0.1 update

    Anyone else having trouble with their iPad dropping wifi about once a week since 6.0.1 update?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    Hi I need to connect to my itunes account with my ipad to manage content. I have an IMac and when iI connect via USB or WIFI itunes doesn't "find" my Ipad. I have had it for over a year and it has always worked before. I have read a lot of the posts on here and tried rebooting both, reinstalling, different leads and USB sockets (iphone picked up fine ) and nothing is working.   • I am having trouble with the iPad seeing WiFi.

    It seems to be getting worse. Has anybody else had this issue and what have you done? Connectivity problems seem to be both with WiFi everywhere not just at my home. Even with a Verizon hotspot right next to it. I get the connected icon on the iPad but when I try to do anything internet connected I get a message that the iPad is not connected to the internet. I have tried rebooting, disabling then enabling the wifi and just aboiut everything else I can come up with.HELP! Anybody else out there with this issue?

    Have you:

    - Restoring the iPad from backup
    - Rstoring the iPad to factory defaults/new iPad.

    You've connected the iPad to your computer's iTunes via the cable ? Did your computer's iTunes recognise the iPad ? If if did then did it not prompt you to reset/restore it ? If not then have you got the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer ?

  • Anyone else having trouble with the iPad cover? Mine just keeps falling off!

    The magnets in the cover appear to have become weak meaning that the cover just keeps Falling off after only having it for a few weeks! The magnets have also left horrible black marks on the back of the iPad!

    I have the SmartCover and have been using it for a month and feel confident in stating that it doesn't fall off or leave horrible black marks in normal use. If your's is doing either of these things, contact Apple for a replacement.

  • Why am I having trouble with my iPad recognizing a new Apple ID?

    I have read the discussions, have followed several suggestions and leads, but when I enter my existing apple id and password (which have been successfully changed online) the iPad still wants the new address to be verified.  It has been and the next screen even tells me the new id has beenb verified, but the iPad still asks for this again.  What a merry-go-round!  I have checked the other apps to see if the old id is still signed in, I have quit all apps, I have restarted, I have verified that the id works using other equipment.  Now what?

    Start with:
    Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo and update.

    ok this is getting a little ridiculous we have 3 ipad mini's and 1 iphone in our household and everyone of the usb cords breaks at the plug that goes into the devices. The latest is my wifes iphone cord and the phone is only 3 weeks old. what gives apple? Never had a problem with the older style cords. Bad thing is they charge a small fortune fo these cords.

    I have three non-working cords as well.  The cable is so flimsy at the connector.  If enough people complain then maybe Apple will try creating a better product!  They should issue some credit or send customers a new cord.
