I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. I am running MAC OS 10.4.11 itunes v. 9.0 and I just want it to be restored. I need help. Oh and its an 8 gb ipod touch.

im trying to restore my iphone and itunes doesnt allow it to restore without updating. problem is that i have the latest update on my iphone so why is it forcing me to wait for a 7hr update download when i already have the update and only need to restore?
Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

I have an iPhone 4 that I just updated today to ios 6, now when I go to back up the phone to my PC, it says it can't because I don't have the latest version of iTunes. But i have iTunes 10. Please advise.
There is an updated version number 10.7.0.21 that is available if you go to the iTunes link here on Apple.com. It won't show up under Apple Software Update and if you check for updates via iTunes it likely won't show either.

I can not sync my IPhone to My Imac. I have the latest version of ITunes on my Imac. I have tried reseting my phone (3), changing ports. Nothing works. I was thinking maybe my phone has the earlier version of ITunes but I can't update it.

I can't connect to the itunes store. I have the latest version of itunes on my windows 7 computer. I can connect to itunes from my ipad and ipod but no my windows computer. i dont get any error message, the bar at the top just says accessing itunes
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I have the iphone 4s. Ive tried to update my phone & its stuck on the connect to itunes screen. Ive tried to even restore my phone then update & i still have a error for both of them. I have tried to update my iPod Touch 4G to the latest update, I currently have iOS 4.1. After the 4 hours an error message appears saying iTunes had lost connection even when I am fully connected to the internet. I have repeated the update 4 times now with not luck. Any ideas?

AdamIf you get a network timed out error, try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and install.

I purchased my daughter the new ipod. I downloaded the latest version of itunes. After syncing the ipod, all my songs appear grayed out. They have an exclamation point next to them. Even the ones I purchased from itunes. How do I get my songs back?
Usually, the exclamation mark tells you that the song was not where the program expected to find it. It may also mean that there was an error with the file itself.
If you click on the exclamation mark, it may give you a reason. You can also double click the file to make it play. If the file is not found, it will tell you. Just follow the prompts to look for the song again. It will ask you if you want to look for the other missing songs in the same folder. You can do it, but unfortunately, the last few updates have made the program blind to the songs that are there and you sometimes have to do the same process for each song.
If neither of these help, I would suggest starting from scratch and reinstalling iTunes. I have had to do that before. Do your best to back up the library and such first.
Sometimes a computer will rename a hard disk (Windows) and all the songs on that disk will be gone to iTunes because it will think it's looking in the right place. It can't recognize that the hard disk or partition has been renamed.
I know that this is a podcast, but the principle is the same. A dialogue box should pop up to tell you just what the problem is.

Update to iOS 4 states "You have the latest version of iTunes"
When syncing my iTouch 2nd Gen 16GB via iTunes, the Summary page tells me to click Update to instal iOS 4, but when clicking on Update I only get a message telling me that I have the latest version of iTunes... which I know already!
However, having scanned the discussions on iSO 4, I get the impression that it is causing more problems than benefits, so it may be better to wait until the kinks are sorted, especially for the more mature status of the venerable 2nd Gen???

Okay, so on your summary page, there is a button "Check for Update". If it is not visible, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes i.e *iTunes 9.2.1.5*

Yes, there are some problems with iOS4 and 2nd Gen iPod Touch, as the processor is not fully compatible with the software and operation becomes a little slower and often, customers and owners of 2nd Gen complain that their device CAN handle the features that iOS4 offers the newer generation of iPod, but are not able to, hence why they turn to jailbreaking to enable such features. -

I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. And if you know of another way that I can access all of my itunes library music on my new phone withouth using itunes, I would love to hear about it.--thanks and again i am so sorry for frustrating you.
