itunes starts to download 6.0.1 to update iphone4 but errors b4 done

I had this same problem and solved it when I realized that the software upgrade download was about 600MB, but I had less free space available on the iPhone.
So I deleted some large music files to make space available, then started the upgrade again and it worked fine.
One caveat: since I had "Automatically fill free space with songs" checked in iTunes, under the iPhone "Music" tab, simply deleting songs from the iPhone's playlist did not clear up the space. Other songs got loaded to fill up the space. I had to uncheck "Automatically fill free space with songs" as well as delete songs in order to free up the space.

TS1424 iTunes error when downloading tv "Download error, tap to retry"

Hi, just bought a tv series from iTunes. The first three episodes downloaded with no problems, the last three episodes won't download and the above error keeps occuring. I have be enable to download on my iPhone 4s but they won't on my iPad! Any ideas please...... Thanks

Usually due to insufficient room on th edevice you are downolading to. Unfortunately the attempted files get clogged in the download que and must be deleted. It is not obviousl but:
I found the answer to my question in another part of this discussion forum. I'm adding it here in case someone else sees my original post and wants to see the solution.
To get rid of the download error, go to the download page and find the small down-pointing arrow icon next to the "download error. Tap to retry." text. Put your finger on the down-pointing arrow icon and flick (quick short swipe) to the left. The down-pointing arrow icon will be replaced with a "delete" button. Tap the delete button. Then confirm the delete in the modal popup window.

Ok... I downloaded a song from iTunes and while downloading I got a "error must shut down iTunes" so I close iTunes and open it back up and the song I was charged for is no where to be found. So I downloaded another song and it shows up but the first won't. Where is the song that i was charged???

Some songs download, but others (most) crash iTunes during purchase. Play around with itunes and try to download "free songs" and see if they stick.
I wish we can find out if this effects more users on Windows 7 (32 and/or 64)

Mac OS X v10.7 Lion Itunes errors when trying to upgrade iphone

Trying to update my ipad and iphone to IOS 5. When I try to update I get an error message that my Iphone and/or ipad COULD NOT BE RESTORED. THIS DEVICE ISN"T ELIGIBLE FOR THE REQUESTED BUILD.

I'm connected through my Sky Wifi, it's extremely quick, and I don't have any problems with it. Yes it asked me for my Account Email, and password as normal, then it did that little annimation where it flys into the Launch Pad, then it's saying "waiting" where it should be saying downloading.

I have tried to install the new keyboard update. Every time I have tried it downloads but will not install. I get an "unexpected error 18:1 has occurred". I have rebooted and tried again and still get the same problem. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have a similar problem, My Iphone has gone into recovery mode since trying to install 3.1. I have correct updated software ITunes 9, QT 7.6.4, Safari 4.0.3. My iPhone is in recovery mode and when connected to iTunes it is indicated that the phone software is up to date. To recover the phone there is no option provided except to update the software which is 306 MB (20 hours download time for me). the first time I attempted I got an error after 10 hours. Is there another way to recover my phone?

I just updated my iTunes to the latest version, and now iTunes will not open and gives me an error stating that I need to attempt to re-download iTunes again. Which I did, and still get the same error.

I had this issue and Apple haven't done anything to rectify this. I ended up removing ALL Apple products and then reloading iTunes, it's a pain, but it's the only way to date that I have got iTunes back!

I keep getting the error above, and when i check purchases it starts but then continues to give me the msg error . Unable to finish download of Song, the file seems to be corrupted, to redownload the purchase, check purchases from the store menu... Then when I try get error msg err=-100008 and nothing happens... Error when syncing or updating iPhone 4S

Since updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0, I have gotten the following error message whenever connecting the phone to iTunes: iTunes cannot read the contents of phone. What can I do to get iTunes to recognize my phone? I have followed all of the steps in the support section and nothing changes.

Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

I think I solved the problem by initiating the update in a different way, from the itunes panel where I can click to start the update, instead of saying yes when asked if I want to update when itunes launches in response to the iphone being plugged into the computer.

To look in the ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile\ Backups folder to find the Manifest.plist folder, and delete entries for apps that might be causing the problem.
I remembered that a little while ago, I had started getting an error message while syncing and updated app (Sleepmaker or something- couldn't remember which, precisely, but knew that it was a white noise app). So, I went to the Manifest.plist folder, and removed the entries for the couple different flavors of the Sleepmaker app that I had installed.
Then, reconnected the iPhone, and clicked "Continue Restore" once again when it reported that there had been an interrupted restore. This time, it went through fully! Took quite a while (~1 hr) to copy all my media onto the phone, but now it's all there! Hopefully this will help others who might in the same situation...

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.
