  • Itunes keeps saying I need to restore to factory settings

I had been using my car stereo ipod usb connection to listen to music from my phone. The last time I used it, it said I had no music. So i turned my phone off and it never turned back on, it was stuck on the apple logo, i tried everything, eventually my phones battery drained. so i looked up how to restore my phone and it said to hold the home button down and plug into itunes and it would begin a complete restore, which it did. i was able to restore my last backup. well today i wanted to download some music and when i plugged in my iphone to itunes it said, i cant remember word for word but basically it was telling me i needed to restore my phone to factory settings. so i figured well maybe it really didnt work last time so i went ahead and did it again. everything went back to factory settings, and when i went to sync my phone i get an error saying something it couldnt sync with this iphone and something about a file and not a folder can be found. so i disconnected my phone and reconnected and again the first thing that pops up is that i need to restore my phone. im so frustrated i dont know what to do! did i kill my phone?!?

To restore your iDevice, you have two options.
    1. Plug into iTunes and select your device and click restore.
    2. On your iPhone, go to Settings>General>Reset, and click which one you would like to use.
If your device is locked up and you can't get into it,
    1. Open iTunes
    2. Power Down your Device
3 hold down your home button and plug in the device to the computer at the same time
    4. Keep holding until your device shows the Plug into iTunes image.
    5. On iTunes, click restore
Wait for the device to restore to factory settings and your done!

My IPhone need to restore, but I want to backup my data first.
Itunes keep telling me you must restore this iphone before it can be used. How I can backup my data?

At this point it is too late. When you restore it will restore the backup made at the time of the last sync. And changes to the phone's content after that last sync will be lost.

  • I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restore bcause there are files that are used by other application. I am having Widows

I am not able to Sync. My iPOD classic 80Gb. It tells that as iTunes can not read the contents-restore to factory settings- after restoring – it tells that it can not be restored bcause there are files that are used by other application. My iPOD appears in My Computer in drive H as a mass storage generick volume

Try disabilng the Enable Disk Use option from under the iPod's Summary tab, applying the changes, and seeing if that helps.
Otherwise, temporarily disabling any antivirus, security, firewall, or file indexing software that may be running on your system and then try restoring your iPod again.

  • How do I restore my itunes library? My computer was restored to factory settings and I couldn't find a restore date that allowed my to get access to all of my files. Now my itunes library is empty minus the songs we've recently purchsed!

MY computer was restored to factory settings. Is there a way to get my previous itunes library back? I don't have an Ipod or other device that I saved my itunes library to.

Restore the media from the backup of the computer.
If it was simply restored via the Windows restore point, no data on the computer should have been affected.
If the computer was formated and Windows re-installed, no data remained on the computer and will have to be added back by the user.

  • IPhone 3G restore to factory settings

I tried to sync my new iphone 3G to iTunes for the first time, but before I could start syncing iTunes asked for update and I started updating. At the end of 2 hours of update, I got a prompt for restoring iPhone to factory settings. I tried restoring but it fails continuously with error message code: 1015. When I referred the Apple website for trouble shooting, Apple suggested to update iTunes, update Windows, restart the system and I tried all these. But none seems to be working. Can anyone please let me know how to accomplish the task?

    TS3694
Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.  Very rarely this error is caused by a hardware issue and requires service.
Delete your ipsw file and let iTunes redownload it.

  • Ipod 5 won't sync with iTunes, says it needs to be restored to factory settings.

Two error messages pop up when I plug it in.
    1) iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod “Katie's iPod touch”. Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings.
    2) The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly, and you must manually eject the iPod before each disconnect. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod’s software.
I can't format my ipod, there's too much stuff on it (and it's not like I can back it up because it won't sync) that I would lose. At first I thought this was because my connect cord was worn out, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting while it was plugged in, but I got a new cord and the problem is still occuring.
Please help! I can't sync any of my apps or information and I can't add any new music to my ipod, which is problematic.

First try to resolve #2 by:
    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests
    - Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
If you can resolve #1 and still get same message for #1 then you have to restore the iPod like the message says.

  • HT1414 Is there any way to recover the backup of your iPhone after restoring to factory settings?

I restored my iPhone4 to factoring settings without realizing it. I need some of the things that were on my last backup before i restored it. I was wondering if there was any way to reverse this.

With an iTunes back up you can find if you have one by following the steps below if you have a PC/Mac.
    Windows:
    Edit>Preferences>Devices
    Mac:
    iTunes>Preferences>Devices
With iCloud follow the steps below.
    1. Go to Settings>iCloud
    2. Sign In
    3. Tap Storage & Back up
    4. Manage Storage
This will show back ups made on iCloud.
If you have a back in iTunes or iCloud restore from that back up and see whatdatat comes back on the phone.
    Hope this helps

  • I wanted to updated Ipad Mini to 6.1 but it froze on "Connect to Itunes" display and as I connected to Itunes, it only suggested me to Restore To Factory Settings. Anyone with the same issue?

... and currently, it is on Ipad Recovery Mode, meaning, I problably lost evertyhing unless is on the cloud.
Wasnt the new Upgrades without the need of a computer?

Sometimes it can be as simple as quitting iTunes, restarting the Mac and restarting the iPad and it will work again. If restarting everything doesn't work, look through both of these.

Can I recover my pictures to my Iphone after restoring to factory settings on of via iTunes ?

Possibly... contact the photo center and ask them if they offer such a feature or app.
This is not an iPhone, iOS, or Apple issue.
