I tried to restore, update and back up my ipod touch. once it said it was successful i clicked on the label of my ipod in itunes and it had written, "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." now whenever i click on the label it just says that and on my ipod it tells me to plug into itunes when it already is. i didnt update restore or back it up with the latest version, so i downloaded the latest version, how do i start the process again so my ipod works!! help this is gay !!
Hmm, well... iTunes trys to activate your iPod using the Apple server to make sure you have bought it legit.
Two things come into my mind:
1) Your iTunes can't access the internet.
2) Apples activation servers are down.
That's just my cents, maybe anyone else has an idea. -

I have the same problem after updating to the latest iTunes. I purchased an iPhone 4S this past summer and gave my 3GS to my 6 year-old minus the SIM card-- an instant iPod Touch. Things were fine until the latest version of iTunes 11.0. Until I updated to 11.0.1, iTunes would not even "see" the iPhone.
How do I get past the insistence to activate the phone? Right now, it's a useless brick. -

original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

I bought a new iPhone 4s from a electronics shop here in Norway today with a norwegian network. When I tried to activate my iPhone, I got this message:
"We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time"
I also tried to activate the iPhone from the phone itself, but it gets stuck when I try to type in the PIN-code and tells me that I have to write in the PUK-code, even though I haven't typed in the wrong PIN-code. I've tried to hard reset the phone, reboot the computer and turn off the firewall, but nothing worked.
Could this have anything to do with the fact that I've changed network provider, and it's going to take about 10 days for the new SIM-card to work?Hope you already found a solution, if not try this:

What's to do next? Thanks, LuAnhSame issue, and here is one solution.
for some reasons the hosts file (in windowsSystem32driversetc on the computer I was using was redirecting the apple certification address to something else.
I just had to reset the hosts file on windows, and it eventually worked fine !
Trying from another desktop/laptop would have fixed the issue as well. -

What does this mean as the iphone will not connect?It means your phone was hacked to unlock it and has now been bricked. Buy a new phone.

I unlcked my iPhone via Telenor like 1 hour ago, and it says i have to restore the phone thru iTunes, when i try to do that and are wrtiting my pin.code after its done, i get this msg. we're sorry we are unable to continue with your activation at this time.

Sorry but i have seen your reply in this same issue in a lot of thread by keep saying this is jailbreaking or unlocking problem,
but this issue happen on Factory Unlock Phone and even iTouch and iPad...
So i don't think u actually are helping by keep saying same thing again n again, while the problem could be from another thing...
