TS3694 restore/recovery update Problems
Halfway thru recovery/restore update. after extracting records etc, as it is prepairing for restore, I get the following msg, 'The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1). When I re-connect the Ipod i get the same al over agan. Have looked at the errors page, but nothing seems to cover it...
I too have not seen a soltion for error 1.
Try
- disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
- DFU mode and then restore

- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
- Then try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

im trying to restore my iphone and itunes doesnt allow it to restore without updating. problem is that i have the latest update on my iphone so why is it forcing me to wait for a 7hr update download when i already have the update and only need to restore?
Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.

I am in the process of updating my iPhone 5S and all it shows now is a picture telling me to plug it into iTunes. I have plugged my cord into my USB and my iPhone has done nothing. My iTunes is up to date. Is anyone else having this problem?
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.
Make sure your iTunes is version 11.1.5.5 or higher. -

Yes, I'm having the same problem. My iPad Air worked great on OS 7xx but since updating to 8.01 and now 8.1, the display went crazy. Now, I'm also stuck in the restore loop and the iPad is useless. Oops, it finally looks as if it is going to restore as I'm writing, we will see what happens. All my data was erased as well.
All for nothing, itunes says the device has been wiped but it will not start (the screen glows and that is all.) -
My iphone is in recovery mode, and when i connect it to my computer it makes the connected noise and itunes finds it, it starts to restore and update but it gets to the point where it says waiting for iphone. What is the cause of "error 1015" when you're trying to restore and update an iphone 3gs? My iphone is currently in recovery mode and can not get out of it. All the information about my iphone shown on itunes is only marked as- N/A. How can I get my iphone out of recovery mode and get it to recover and update?

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
In other words, either your phone is jailbroken and you are sadly out of luck or you are trying to downgrade iOS. -

- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

i restored and updated my iphone 4 to the latest version of 5.1.1 and after that when i connect my mobile to i tunes all i see is a big rectangle and a apple logo on left and a small lock on right side please help me fix this problem.I sloved this issue by resting my phone from settings>general>reset>reset all settings...the problem will be fixed

I forgot my password and am trying to reset my ipod, but it won't work.It says that my ipod is in recovery mode and that I must restore it. I click ok, and then click on restore and update. Then it says connecting ipod software update server and a screen pops up with ipod software update on the top and iOS 5.1. It lists a bunch of stuff this update contains and on the bottom it says next, which I click and nothing happens, it just goes back to the ipod restore page. Help, what am I doing wrong?

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. My phone was put into recovery mode and I know that not all data is deleted it just puts the phone into a sort of hibernation in order for the files to stay uncorrupted. I went to http://www.recovery-ipad.com/iphone-stuck-in-recovery-mode.html downloaded the software it unlocked my phone in a matter of minutes. Calls, messages, photos, apps, and voicemail was all there as if it never happened If you leave it unregistered you don't have to pay for it works for either windows or mac. Hope this helps!

My iPhone 5s is stuck in recovery mode and won't turn on, I've tried to restore and update it to iTunes and its finding my phone, but saying an error has occurred and won't work, the software is up to date, it just automatically switched itself off and when I try to turn it on, it shows the White background with the apple logo asif it's going to turn itself on but then switches off after a couple of seconds, what can I do? ive already taken it to a shop and he's looked at it, but said he can't fix it, thanks.

I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.
Fixed it!
1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
3. Connected to itunes
4. Pressed restore and update ipod
