TS3694 unknown error 2001

The battery in my iPhone 4 drained really fast today. When I plugged it in I just got the itunes logo on the screen.
When I try to restore the phone now i get unknown error 2001
Anyone else had this problem?

Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

  • Unknown error (2001)

I'm sorry if this question has been posted and answered before. I've been having problems with iTunes. At least i think it is ITunes because all of the iPods in my household seem not to be able to connect with iTunes. Anyways my problem: i downloaded the new update for my touch that lets me run apps. While installing the update iTunes suddenly stopped citing an unknown error. When i went to Restore and Update to get my touch running again, it gives me the unknown error (2001). So now currently i can not do anything with my touch because it will not restore. I have reinstalled itunes too many times, and still it does not help. And now currently my computer will not even recognize the device. Any help would be appreciated in getting my touch working again with the update.

    Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

  • Cannot Restore Unknown error 2001

iTunes says it cannot restore my iTunes and has an Unknown Error 2001. It all started after it failed the new update. Any ideas?

    Hi amigos:
Same happen to me as soon as the new release (1.1.3). Sounds weird but the only think you have to do is plug and unplug your iPod 3 0r 4 times.
I can assure you that after 4 or 5 tries everything will be ok.
    Why is happening that?
Think Apple sold so many iPod (4,000,000) and we are trying to get it at the same time, so they cant handle to manage all of them. Maybe there is not as much slot as they need for everyone to download the new version. Because you cant download the new release your iPod don't get the new software while the old one is deleted.
Believe me, try to plug/unplug 4 or 5 times at the problem will be solve. Or much better, just next time don't try to upgrade as soon as the new release is on iTunes and wait 1 week

  • IPhone 5 stuck at recovery mode. Can't recover, unknown error (2001).

I've upgraded my 3GS to an iPhone 5 about 3 weeks back, and I was resonably happy with the 6.0.1 installed.
After upgrading to 6.0.2, the battery in my iPhone 5 began to drain and could only last for a maximum of 4-5 hours. I've tried it all, tweaking the settings to conserve power, even tried some solutions posted on other forums, restoring back to factory settings, doing a soft reset, hard reset, even tried redownloading the iOS 6.0.2 and I think the worst just happened ...
Battery died (cuz I'm out of power right.)
Charged it to Apple's USB power outlet.
Stuck at Apple boot logo, wouldn't proceed but instead it tries booting again, and again, and again....
So I tried a hard reset, and put it into DFU mode, hopefully it will be stable again after recovery.
Plug my iPhone back to my Mac OSX 10.8.2, iTunes tries to unpack the OS and attempts the restore...
Instead, it's now stuck at the recovery mode, and iTunes gives me, "The iPhone cannot be restored. an unknown error occured (2001)."
And then, the iPhone attempts to restart, goes back to connect to iTunes mode (DFU) and the cycle then repeat itself again.
Any of you guys having the same issue? I can't seem to find a fix anywhere

I've sent it in to my local telco to get a replacement because I simply can't find another way around it.
Has anyone tried with the new iOS update to 6.1.0? Let me know if it works. I'm still waiting for a replacement from Maxis (Apple's Authorised iPhone after sales support here in Malaysia).
They have a stupid policy of waiting up to 2 weeks before I get a replacement. At the meantime, Maxis just expects me to be phone-less for 2 whole week although they have prepared back-up iPhone5 stocks for a 1on1 exchange. Their reason: Oh, we cannot read your IMEI no, we need to send it back to the distributor.
This frustrates and furiates me. Why can't Apple Malaysia be more professional about it like how it's done in U.S.?
    Gahhhhhhhh....

  • TS3694 Unknown error occured (6)

During update I received "Unknown error occurred (6). How do I get my phone to work again?

The answer is in the knowledge base article you were reading when you posted your question: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error6
Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 1000, and 9006
Follow the steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or phobos.apple.com isn't blocked by a firewall or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under "Advanced steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)" below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.

  • TS3694 unknown error occured 3194

I just can not restore my iPhne 3GS. There is no os in it . When it is started, it displays the message" recovery mode, restore immediately" I have tried many time to restore but unknown error 3194. Please help to restore my iPhone.  Thank you very much.

The article steps for this are:
    1.  Insure you have the latest version of iTunes (11.0.2.26)
    2.  Check security software (Either disable, or temporarily uninstall the software).
    3.  Check the hosts file:
The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. FollowiTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
    4.  Try to restore from another known good computer and network (Make an appointment at the genius bar)
    5.  If the error persists on another computer - Device may need service.
My bet would be Security software.  If you uninstall - you can choose to keep your settings for a reinstall.  Reboot the computer after removing the software.
    HTH, and best of luck.

  • TS3694 unknown error 3004

Hi I'm trying to restore my iphone and I'm having problems.  I put it in DFU mode just to try to get it cleanly updated but when I shift and select the ios 7 ipsw for the iphone 5 gsm, it says unknown error 3004.  Now I can't get that far because iTunes says unable to contact update server.  I'm not running a firewall or any third party except for Vipre anti virus (the version without the firewall), and whatever the default Windows 7 64-bit firewall configuration is.

    Hi cypherx,
Do not worry about firewalls or anything like that. When you install iTunes it automatically opens the firewall to the correct ports. If it did not you would not be able to update iTunes.
The fix is very simple.  It is in your hosts file.  It sounds like you have a bad IP address for gs.apple.com.
    1. From the start menu click on computer > C: > windows > system32 > drivers > etc
    2. Copy your hosts file to your desktop.
    3. Open your hosts file with notepad.
    4. Look for gs.apple.com.  If there are IP address numbers before gs.apple.com
    Example::
    74.208.105.171     gs.apple.com
    79.208.10.249     gs.apple.com
    17.171.36.30     gs.apple.com
Put a hashtag before each IP address as below.
    #74.208.105.171     gs.apple.com
    #79.208.10.249     gs.apple.com
    #17.171.36.30     gs.apple.com
After doing this press "ctrl-S" to save the file then move it back to the following folder or cut and paste it.
    computer > C: > windows > system32 > drivers > etc
Your iPhone, iPad, iPod will restore at this point. We effectively removed bad redirects from your hosts file.
