TS3694 unknown error occured 3194
I just can not restore my iPhne 3GS. There is no os in it . When it is started, it displays the message" recovery mode, restore immediately" I have tried many time to restore but unknown error 3194. Please help to restore my iPhone. Thank you very much.
The article steps for this are:
1. Insure you have the latest version of iTunes (11.0.2.26)
2. Check security software (Either disable, or temporarily uninstall the software).
3. Check the hosts file:
The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. FollowiTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
4. Try to restore from another known good computer and network (Make an appointment at the genius bar)
5. If the error persists on another computer - Device may need service.
My bet would be Security software. If you uninstall - you can choose to keep your settings for a reinstall. Reboot the computer after removing the software.
HTH, and best of luck.

I'm trying to restore an iphone 3GS before selling it. I've already erased everything by going into settings and clicking on erase and restore. The phone says to connect to iTunes and iTunes says "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (3194)." It is not jailbroken and all of the apps were deleted when I erased the phone. How can I get the phone ready for sale? Appreciate any advice you can give to this iPhone newb, please and thanks!
Things I've done:
- updated itunes software
- force restart on iphone by holding the home and the power buttons
- ran windows troubleshooter- no problems detected.http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error3194

How do I restore my ipod. Right now can not access it at all . Picture of itunes icon and my cable all that is showingThis device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

message that "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)."
How can I fix it?Usually that means the iPhone was hacked to unlock it from the original
carrier .
Updating the operating system locks it back to that original carrier
You could try this
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
However if the iPhone was hacked it is probably a paper weight now
and as this is an Apple hosted forum you can get no further help here -

IPhone could not be restored. An Unknown error occurred (3194).
My battery is sort of messed up, the phone dies at any time it wants. I asked at the apple store and they told me to restore the phone and check for improvements. I've backed it up but when restoring the phone, before it restarts the message "iPhone could not be restored. An Unknown error occurred (3194)." appears. how do i fix that?
Hello, Aaljandel.
Thank you for the question. Here are the troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when receiving error 3194 on a restore.
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
