the error code 1015 appeared when i tried to restore original setting of my 3g i phone. i tune recommended to update software version. when it did so, a message showed that system had to be restored. while restoring, the error appeared on i tune. now, i can't use my phone. i tune was updated as recommended by the site to eleminate one of the factor that might be the cause of the error.
for those who encountered the same problem, would u plz HELP. thanks in advance.

Google it and you can find a remedy. Sounds like your iPhone has been jailbroken or hacked, or someone has used TinyUmbrella on your computer.

Don't panic and don't worry. Your problem is basic. This error happens when your downgrade or upgrade your iDevice once apple stop signing the firmware.
DON'T use Tinyumbrella or others jailbreak utilities.
Steps:
1. Goto Windows/System32/Drivers/etc
2. Open "Hosts" file with Notepad.
3. Delete gs.apple.com (everything - all traces) then save it.
3A. And also delete the Tinyumbrella notepad file.
4. Plug-in your iDevice to PC, start iTunes and Restore.

Error 1015 is most often given if the iPhone has the iPad Baseband 6.15.00 installed. There is now finally, a week ago, complete fix for this problem. Restores the iPhone GPS and iTunes Restore function back to normal. Search the Web for help.

If this is the case you will have to Search the Web, a complete fix can be found, including correcting the baseband so iTunes will work normally again and your GPS Chipset will function like normal again.

Our ipod got splashed with water in the bathroom (8 year old brings it everywhere). Now it doesn't work at all. Plugged it into the computer and it says detect unknown ipod, in recovery mode - do we want to restore it. I choose "restore & update" but it gives the error of 3194 and the apple site doesn't say any specifics about this error. Is our ipod dead???? It is only just over a month old so we have the 1 year warranty. If my son got it wet, will apple do anything for us. What is the cause of "error 1015" when you're trying to restore and update an iphone 3gs? My iphone is currently in recovery mode and can not get out of it. All the information about my iphone shown on itunes is only marked as- N/A. How can I get my iphone out of recovery mode and get it to recover and update?

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.
In other words, either your phone is jailbroken and you are sadly out of luck or you are trying to downgrade iOS.

I suspect you meant 1015, not 1051. You have a jailbroken phone. you can't get help here.

Yes, if it has been jailbroken, then there is probably nothing that you can do and you will never be able to use it, so ditch it and buy a new phone.
If it's an iPhone 3g, then it is a very old phone anyway and you shoud consider buying a new one.
