Network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. or try again later." and next to the file it has err = -3259. I have tried this 17 times and it won't work. My iTunes is completely up to date. I have made sure that my connection is fine and I have tried turning my firewall off with no avail. This has happened to me before but usually the update will go through after 2-3 tries, never to this extent. I don't know what to do. Help!

I don't have a jailbreak. This is a genuine model. When I connect with Itunes it starts with a menu which asks if I want to upgrade to iOS5. after making a back-up I get the message it went wrong with code 3194. I disabled the firewall and tried again. I closed my PC and tried again, and it still gives the same result.
The apple website has not a version which you could download to your PC to use without I-Tunes. Perhaps a bypass would work....?
I found a forum where it was told you could download iOS5 wireless... But I don't have a button software update in my general menu (as the show you to use)
It would be nice if you could give an solution without all the technical details...I'm a simple user, not a programmer :-)

You did not mention iTunes being up-to-date. Just make sure you are running iTunes 10.5.3. Just incase.

I have done several "attempted downloads, and see the full file download, typically taking 30 minutes to complete, and then something goes wrong.
I am happy to suspend AV and FW software, but would like to know if it is a good fix or not first?

I haven't been able to update Firefox since 10.01 or 10.02 because every time I try I get the same message the "7-ZIP File" is missing. Then the update fails. I've submitted this problem to Mozilla Firefox and, got an immediate reply of " they are researching your problem".
Well, you can tell how long that has been. Is there anything I can do, or any where I can go to get the file I need?
Any constructive help would be very much appreciated! I'm not sure If I'll ever be able to find where this is located. But I do appreciate help just the same.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes installing work.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
