My iMac at start up goes to the apple logo with the spinning symbol under neath it.
After a while it goes into a screen with a prohibited symbol.
I can't boot it into safe mode or single user mode only thing I can do is press the control, option and p,r keys and that leads me to a locked screen with a bar under neither it for me to type a password or something I've tried my admin password many times and nothing happens

Sounds like you have a firmware password set.
As you can't do that accidentally, you surely must know the password (which is different from your admin password)?

You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you. -

Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
Delete the app.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.
If the issue persists, then you may want to try and sync the application to your iOS device using your computer by following the information in this article, under the section "Download previous purchases on Mac or PC":

There is only one thing that happens -- the Server does not respond.
Your mac concludes that you must have entered the wrong password. That may happen once, but then other issues become more likely, and it keeps asking for a new password.
Sometimes the Server is down for maintenance. Sometimes something is configured wrong. Some services do this on purpose to get you to use WebMail (pick up your Mail with your Browser) so they can show you some ads. -
I have recently bought a new laptop with windows 7 and when i have tried to install and open itunes i keep getting the message 'itunes has stopped working' itunes then shuts down before i can do anything to fix it. This happens every time I try to open itunes. I have tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it, starting itunes in safe mode. Nothing seems to work. Please can anyone help.
If and when I finally manage to open it, as soon as I click on a movie to watch, the message "itunes has stopped working" comes up.

An update from Apple appeared on my iPhone so I downloaded it, it was an IOS update. The screen said to swipe to open, then enter a 4 digit number, which I did then it went to a screen asking for my network info which I entered (except I guessed at the security as being "WPA2", I have not idea, I entered my password and now the only screen that will appear is one stating it is Joining my stated Network??? but nothing is happening and I can't use any of my iPhone features at all? Help
Go back to the previous page. If there's no available wireless networks listed except "Other" which is manually putting the wireless network information, see if you have "activate using cellular" or "connect to iTunes" option.

Intel imac 2009. Grey screen with question mark folder. Changed harddrives 3 times now. Tired 5 keyboards on all Usb ports and a hub and keyboard wont boot to startup or safemode of anything but hub gets power. disc drive wont eject or accept a disc cuz keyboard commands not being sent to computer. Help?
Keyboards must be connected directly to the USB port, not through a hub.
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/. -

There's no way anyone here will know the password to that network. If this is your own home network, the password would be whatever you set up on the WiFi router. If you've forgotten it, you'll have to reset the router. Consult the router documentation. If this is a commercial WiFi network you're trying to access, contact whoever runs the network.

Hi My windows 7 professional did an update 2 days ago as i logged out of windows to go back into os x and since then i get a BSOD when i go into windows which flashes so fast I can't see the error message- -I've tried system repair, restore, image, safe mode, booting off my bootable USB with windows 7 install disk on it- nothing will get past BSOD!!!
I'm on a macbook air OS X 10 and windows 7 professional - any ideas besides completely wiping hte bootcamp partition using disk utility and reinstalling windows how I can roll back that update please?!

I use reFit to boot into Windows so after my last time shutting down from Windows it did an update- since then when I go into windows i get the splash screen a pause then a flash of BSOD and the whole mac restarts (back to reFit menu!)
I tried doing F8 in the windows and did every option- repair, enable boot logging, scan, safe mode- no joy
I plugged in bootable USB (i installed from bootable USB originially also but the current USB im using I installed Windows 7 from onto a Dell no probs last week so its fine!) - went through F8 options on that too (booting into the USB windows via reFIt again) - but same issue!
When I do the system image it just doesnt see the USB drive at all with the backup on it -

I have not lost my phone but this morning I see "activation required" so I slide open and see I have to put my Apple ID and password, I do that and nothing happens. I go to Apple online and change my password and try again, nothing happens. What is going on with my phone? It says "this phone is locked by user d******* (which is me) or it says the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I know I have "find my phone" activated but it won't do anything when I enter my password, even after I confirmed the new one.
When I try to connect my phone to Itunes it tells me "a session could not be started with the phone", whatever that means! The summary page is correct but the apps only say loading device (which it never does).
I tried turning it off and back on again but since I did that, it also says "no service" "activation server unavailable" and to contact apple support if the problem persists??For some reason I wasn't able to log in to ICloud. I don't understand because my original iphone was stolen and findmyiphone is activated for the stolen phone so I should be able to log in and check the status. As for my new phone, I was usign IOS 7 beta and was able to do a restore on it so its working fine now. However, I still don't understand why I can't log in to ICloud. Each time I try to log in the screen blinks and goes right back to the log in screen again?? If you don't mind and know why that is happening I would really appreciate it. I know I won't get my stolen phone back but it would be nice to know I can disable it.

If it is an Apple cable it should have come in a white Apple box with an Apple label. If it didn't it is not an Apple cable. You can buy Apple cables at any Apple store or Apple's online store. There are also high quality cables from some of Apple's business partners such as Griffin.
For a 3GS most cables should work, Apple or not. This is not true for the iPhone 5 and later. So the problem may not be the cable; inspect the connector on the bottom of the phone; if it is full of lint, dirt or moisture try cleaning it. Also look for bent pins. -
When I try to update my iPad 3 4g to iOS 5.1.1, i keep getting error trying to find software update, I've tried several things already, but nothing seems to work.
Perhaps, iTunes can't communicate with the Apple uodate servers. Temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software would help. Take a look at this.

Was that message showing a s dialog when selecting the tv connection as a sound output device? I ask because I don't know the exact context of that message and never heard of it before.
It may be helpful to take a screen shot of both that message and also the list of the sound output devices while the tv is connected.
You never specified your model (year) of your imac so I don't know its limitations. Maybe some version doesn't support sound through the mini-displayport (hard to believe any model wouldn't with mini-displayport). But if that is the case you may have to resort to analog stereo from you stereo line out output jack to your tv.
One final thing. The mini-displayport adapter you have may not support audio. That was a possibility a few years ago. That is why most places that sells these things also explicity specify whether the adapter supports audio. For example, monoprice's adapter:

Note both these adapters explictily say they have audio support. -
I try to log in to password protected sites and nothing happens but works fine on Internet Explorer. Can't get past log in page. I even had to use Internet Explorer to login to ask this question!
On the page where you enter username and password after entering and pressing "Log in" the page just stays in place. If you look at the error log you see
