IChat Mac-to-Mac xyz did not respond

Hello, I have a very strange case: when trying to connect to X we do not get iChat working, this is what happens:
- Select the person from the buddy list
- Connecting
- did not respond message
I have tested this also with another Mac user Y and iChat works fine. When Y connects to X it works fine too. However when Y connects to me and tries to add X then we cannot get him in the same chat "did not respond".
How is this possible and what can we do to solve it?

Where do I go for help if my mac Mail will not respond from Applications? I can move it to the dock but it does not respond. Beach ball turns---

Help! My Mac screen is not responding!

This morning I turned on my mac and it suddenly powered down. At first I thought it had gone to sleep but the screen is not responding. I checked the contrast, tried hooking up to power, taking out the battery, force shutting down and restarting, resetting the Pram, doing a safe boot and hooking it up via firewire to another mac. None of this helped. I can hear the fans running and the sleep light is still on but nothing else seems to be working. I am traveling so I can't get to mac store for a while but I need the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Welcome to Apple discussions.
Have you tried resetting the SMC? To do so, disconnect the power cord, shut the computer off, take out the battery and hold the power button down for 7 seconds. Reinstall the battery and AC cord and turn the computer on. There's an outside shot that may fix it.
If not, the fact that the computer won't mount in FireWire Target Disk Mode is suspicious. It implies that your computer has experienced a large hardware failure -- not just the display. I would take the computer to your local Apple store and they'll probably ship it off for repairs.

Help with new Mac Mini dock not responding!

Good day to you all. I took delivery of a shiny new Mac Mini on Friday and not having too many problems.....ish
The main problem is the dock not magnifying, it is set too, and having to click icons in the dock twice. All was working fine when I switched it off last night.
Any assistance gratefully accepted thanks

OK. I have installed flip for mac, firefox for mac, msn for mac, snapNdrag and real Player for mac. The keyboard and mouse are a non apple wireless usb kind, recognised straight away and working fine(I think)

HT5225 .Mac mail is not responding! Had to go through the whole "Move to iCloud" *twice because iCloud/Apple "acted all brand new" as if I hadn't taken care of this days ago! .Mac mail still not responding! What gives, Apple?

Like it says in the title, I already transfered to iCloud days ago, and now I go to check my e-mail and VOILA! Apple/.Mac/iCloud are acting all brand new, like I never did any thing!
So I go through the palabra again to continue using my .Mac e-mail, part of the whole *Family Pack* set-up I paid for each year circa $200 for the whole nine yards for the past six years, only to be told that in their infinite wisdom dwelling in their cushy bubble in Cupertino, Apple will no longer have the service I've been paying for, and "oh, don't worry, you can still have your e-mail"...
Still no e-mail. Still no consistently working .Mac service. Congratulations, Apple. Y'all are starting to look more and more like Microsoft, and no, that is not a complement.

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
exit disk utlity
at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue

My Mac notebook is not charging

I cannot charge my notebook. I have been to the Apple store, only to have it charge while there. I was sent an email on how to reset the SMC, but that is not working.

was your AC adapter used at the Apple store to demonstrate that your MacBook Pro was charging, or was a different AC adapter used? That is, could the problem be with your AC adapter?

How do I completely uninstall BB Media Manager on the Mac / PocketMac is not responding

After installing the preview of the media manager on my Mac I read the fine print that Missing Sync and PocketMac will no longer work (that should be in bold).
What are the steps to completely remove the Media Manager?

Hi I dwnload PocketMac Sync Manager for my BB Curve 8900.
I made the first sync succesfylly but now I want to update changes between devices and this is the error message I get.

Download error: Adobe Reader could not open 'pdfBill-7.do' because it is not a supported file type. This message occurs on my iMac - this same file is easily opened by Firefox on my Mac Notebook, and by Safari on my iMac.

Details above - this occurs when i try to generate an invoice on a Fairfax County website via Firefox. it generates fine using firefox on my Mac Notebook but not using Firefox on my iMac. Also opens easily using Safari on my iMac.

My I Mac, at work, not responding to any keys, Except Option, on start-up.
While pressing option key, it asks for password. Nobody knows how it came there. The acceptable password at boot disk selection manager is a domain user login password and the user doesn't have permission to change any system preferences.
We are unable to find the DVD at boot disk selection to boot from the Disc. also none of the startup shorcuts are working.

User does not respond

I am posting this question with hopes of a personal response from Ralph Johns or Defcom... seems like they are the resident experts on this business. If any one else has ideas I would be happy to hear from you too. I know that there are many other posts on this topic but I have tried all the stuff that I have read and I still can't connect with my dad.
I changed the streaming preferences in Quicktime, I opened the ports that are listed on the support sheet and turned the firewall off, I called into the AIM appleu3test01 buddy and got video back, and we have tried to viideo chat using a different program and were able to. My dad has done all the same things.
The messages that I am getting in connection doctor are as follows:

Dad and I are both using OS 10.3.9 and iChat 2.1. I have a Siemens SpeadStream 4200 modem and no router and dad has a Dlink modem and an airport.
The very first time that I set up the isight I was able to do a one way video chat with him and there were no dramas. The next couple of times we started the video chats and after a few seconds it would cut out. Now we can't get anything at all. Unfortunately I do not know what the settings were when it was working and a couple of things have changed since then: I have since installed the iSight 1.0.3 upgrade and I have upgraded my internet connection from 512kbps Cable broadband to 1500kbps DSL broadband.
I can't think of anything else to try. Please help!

Thanks for the advice guys... but I am not exactly sure which will lead to the quickest solution.
I went to the Speadstream setup page to put the modem into bridge mode as Ralph suggested. Under the Mode menu there were 3 choices: Optus Bridge (Optus is my ISP), NAPT and Full Bridge. Optus Bridge is selected, so I think that the modem is already in bridge mode??? If I changed it to Full Bridge mode it said that I wouldn't be able to access the setup page any more so I didn't do that.
I tried messing around with few of the other settings (ie. disabling DHCP) and I just lost my internet connection all together, so I am not too game to fiddle around with all of that again without some good solid instructions.
So at this point would the best solution be to change the settings on the Airport or is there an easy way to change my modem that I did not see??
Also when I followed the link to see how to change the Airport into a Wireless Access Point the page had moved... so if that is the solution please advise me on how to do that so I can forward it to my dad.

I-chat 2.1 not responding error

When contacting my buddy it gives a "did not respond" error. The connection doctor shows this:

It used to work. The strange thing is we are still able to text chat.

I see it is a SIP device.
Do we know if the person is actually using that side of things ?
If not is it something that the ISP charge extra for ?
As it seems to be SIP aware it might pay to see if it can be Unbound from port 5060.

The IP will be the one for the Gigaset. The info Tony posted says it will do Telnet.
