    Do you have a profile lock file in your profile folder? If so, delete it and see if TB runs properly:

    i have restarted my computer and i have uninstalled firefox and re-installed it but i still get the same message i have also tried safe mode and it still has not worked, and i have recently gotten rid of a trojan virus

    When I click on Firefox I get a window that says: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. I restarted the comuter and I shut down the computer. I also ran a full scan of the computer.

    Firefox will be hanging for some reason. The quick solutions to kill the process and try again. The next step is to try to see if it will start and exit normally a couple of times, if so the problem is solved. If not the reason needs further investigation.

    I had a computer expert try everything and we cannot get it to open.

    Look for the firefox process firefox.exe and kill it with for instance task manager. it is also worth watching for plugincontainer.exe.

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

  • Wont start. says is running but not responding. open taskmanager but no firefos under processes. restart computer and get same.

    when i click the firefox icon to open firefox it pops up a box that says that firefox is running but not responding. i open taskmager to close the firefox process but there is no firefox process listed. i restart my computer and get the same result. firefox appears to still be running but not responding even after a restart. i even tried a cold boot ad got the same results. performed a full virus scan and excep for some tracking cookies it came up negative. i deleated the firefox kernal and downloaded a new copy and installed it. got same problem.

  • Once I turn off the browser and then try to use it later, I get a message saying its already running but not responding. tells me to close it which I cant do since its already closed. Forces me to restart my computer

    I make some changes with cookies and cleared my history for today...and then restarted my computer...now firefox will not open...will not respond...should I uninstall firefox and then reinstall it?

    Does Firefox starts up when you first open it after rebooting the computer but hangs the next time you try to start it? If so, then there's a [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1005487 bug] in Firefox 29 where Firefox hangs on exit when the setting "Clear history when Firefox closes" is selected, so that you get an "already running but not responding" error the next time you ttry to start it. In that case, end the firefox.exe process in the Windows Task Manager (or reboot the computer) then reset your Firefox Privacy options and UNCHECK the option "Clear history when Firefox closes".     I go on the internet, the web site works, but then maybe when I try to go to another web site I get a message saying that Firefox is already running, but not responding and I need to close it or restart my computer. I do not know where to go to close that site so have to restart the computer!

    There are reports of similar behavour but generally it is due to battery connections.   Is the indicator light working steadily or does it blink or even not function.   Here is the Apple document dealing with some of the problems.

    Is your machine within the guarantee period or under Apple care.   If so, return it to any apple retailer for examination and possible replacement.
