TS3772 is there a fee to install QuickTime on Windows 8 laptop?

update

Yes, but you'll probably have to partition your HDD. I have Sol7 and Win2000 installed on a 20Gb HDD on a notebook. I can't remember which I installed first, but I used my Windows startup disk to boot from the A: drive and then fdisk to create the partitions. In the end I have my Solaris partition set as the active partition as that has the boot loader to allow me to select what I want to boot into, Sol7 or W2K.
I don't think you can get away without partitioning.
Good luck
Carl

I recieve the following error message when trying to install Quicktime for Windows "Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."  I just trying to get the latest version of iTunes.  Thanks

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Need Help Installing Quicktime For Windows

I bought Quicktime Pro for Windows and want to install it.  When I reach the permissions dialogue box in Windows 7 to grant permission to install the software my mouse freezes and I can't move it to select "Yes" and proceed.  Any thoughts on a way around this issue?
    Thanks,
    Bob Z.

i get a prompt saying "the feature you are trying to use is on a resource that is unavailable." and then it goes on to say.. "Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'quicktime.msi' in the box below."
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing QuickTime again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Can't install Quicktime on Windows 7

Whenever I try to install Quicktime, I get the following error message:
    "Quicktime Installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for Quicktime could be completed.
To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again."
I tried running the installer in Safe Mode, and I deleted the C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Temp directory.  The error persists.
Any idea what's causing this behavior?
    Sam.

I agree.  I have wasted two days trying to get this problem figured out, and have been told when I call support that it does not work with Quicktime anymore.
My problem is that on my computer, the 'Apple Application Support' isn't being recognized and is creating an error half way through the install. I have tried everything to fix or work around the problem - spent time reading I don't know how may forums.  Even cleaned out my registry, among other things.  Ended up doing a system restore this morning to start again at square one.
Now, I am on my daughter's computer, which has Quick Time installed but isn't registered. After having deleted all of Quicktime from my computer, using Revo and a restore, I have tried to put the registration number I paid for yesterday into this Quicktime. It won't work - I am unable to use Quicktime Pro on either computer, and Apple Support doesn't give a rip.  They have taken my money and will not ensure the use of the product.

  • Trouble installing itunes onto Windows 8 laptop

Hi, I'm having issues installing itunes onto my windows 8 laptop. It downloaded fine, eventually after I found the right folder! But when I go to open the setup file it doesn't do anything. I looked in the task manager and saw the itunes installer was actually there but still not doing anything?? I've tryed running it as an administrator, deleting it all and starting again etc. Running out of ideas as I'm at the limit of my knowledge, any help would be great.

    Hmmmm.
Any better luck if you try a manual uninstall of the GEAR drivers prior to the iTunes install?
For a link to instructions, see solution 3 from the following document:

  • ITunes will not install on my Windows 8 laptop

I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 on it.  I have tried installing iTunes a bunch of times (with different browers) and have also tried to follow the instructions that Apple usually posts in response to these complaints...but no luck.  It looks like it starts to install and then it stops and gives me an error that it cannot complete the installation.  I have no idea what is going on and I am getting very frustrated.  Please help!

Although you're getting a different error message, try the procedure from the following user tip with that one:

  • Installing J4680 on Windows 7 Laptop

This one is driving me crazy!!!!
I have a relatively new J4680 connected to my home wireless network.  I currently have 4 computers successfully printing to it:
2 Dell Windows 7 desktops (which are connected via ethernet to the access point), 1 Windows XP laptop (which is connected wirelessly), and 1 Linux desktop (which is connected wirelessly).  All of these computers work perfectly for printing on the J4860 (not as much with scanning, but that's another issue ).
I'm attempting to add the printer to my daughters Laptop (Dell D610, Windows 7, wireless).  It's absolutely a NO-GO!  When I run the driver installation programs (downloaded Windows 7 32 bit from HP support site), they takd a really really long time (like 2 hours) to run and then end with a message that they failed to install--I've followed the release note suggestion to remove the driver and use the desktop icon to add the device.  The same thing happens.  I've tried removing all the HP software and plugging the printer in via USB.  Windows attempts to load the drivers (about 4 of them ), one of which fails and the process terminates.
I'm pretty much at my wits end.  I'm reasonably computer literate.  I've got the printer working with both wireless and wired computers, running 3 different operating systems!.....But no matter what I do I can't get the laptop to work with the J4860.
I would very much like some assistance if possible!!!!
    Thanks!

I ran into an issue like yours when I installed Windows 7. I came across a site that says the Windows 7 has a driver that will work, limited, with the printer.  In trying it I had several failures but did get it to work.  I had to delete any trace of the printer I had on file.  I started Windows7 let it boot up, then went to the control panel and told it to add a printer. It found the 4680. I selected it and hit next and it did the rest.  It appears to work just fine, but the controls are different then the normal HP solution.

  • Problem installing CS5 on Windows 7 laptop

I have CS5 on my Windows 7 desktop. Now I want to install CS5 on my Windows 7 laptop. Since it's an upgrade, it won't install. I have a CS4 upgrade, and a full version of CS3. Do I need to install the full CS3 version first, then the CS4 upgrade, and then the CS5 upgrade?

You can directly install the CS5 upgarde , no need to have the CS4 and CS3, all you need is serial Number of the CS4 to install the upgrade.
